Tariff and Development Board Notice No. 284—Inquiry Concerning Protection for the New Zealand Industry Producing Copper Tubing—
Public Hearing
- Following receipt by the Minister of Customs of a report from the Emergency Protection Authority the Government has accepted the recommendations of the Authority that a separate item code be created in the Import Licensing Schedule for seamless tubes and pipes and blanks therefor, of unalloyed copper, of sizes not exceeding 3 inches in external diameter, with an allocation of “C” and with basic licences 50% of imports under 1971 licences.
- In accordance with the Tariff and Development Board Act the Minister of Customs has requested the Board to inquire into and report on the nature and degree of protection, if any, it considers necessary to protect the New Zealand industry producing copper tubing classified in the Customs Tariff as follows:

- The Board will, in accordance with its normal procedures, conduct a public hearing in the Hearing Room, Eighth Floor, Cumberland House, Upper Willis Street, Wellington, on Wednesday, 25 October 1972, commencing at 10.30 a.m.
- Any person who intends to tender evidence should lodge, in typewritten form, 14 copies of public evidence and 12 copies of confidential evidence, to be presented under oath at the public hearing, at the Board’s office no later than Wednesday, 4 October 1972. In preparing this evidence the “Notes for Information and Guidance of Interested Parties” prepared by the Board may be of assistance. Copies of these notes may be obtained from the Board’s office.
