Warrant Vesting Control of the Puwhenua Bridge, Whakatiwai,
in the Franklin County Council and Apportioning the Cost
of Repairs and Maintenance Thereof
ARTHUR PORRITT, Governor-General
PURSUANT to section 136 of the Public Works Act 1928, I
Sir Arthur Espie Porritt, Baronet, the Governor-General of
New Zealand, hereby vest in the Chairman, Councillors, and
Inhabitants of the County of Franklin (hereinafter called
the Franklin County Council) the care, control, and manage-
ment of the Puwhenua Bridge, Whakatiwai, and fix and
determine that so long as the said bridge stands on the
boundary between the County of Franklin and the City of
Manukau one-half of the cost of repairing and maintaining
the said bridge shall be provided and paid for by the
Franklin County Council and that one-half of the cost of
repairing and maintaining the said bridge shall be provided
and paid for by the Mayor, Councillors, and Citizens of
the City of Manukau (hereinafter called the Manukau City
Council), provided that the contribution hereby required to
be paid by the Manukau City Council shall not exceed $200
yearly without the consent of the Manukau City Council
except where a greater contribution is required for urgent
works on the said bridge needed to ensure the safety of the
public or the stability of the structure; and I further direct
that the contribution hereby required to be made by the
Manukau City Council shall be paid to the Franklin County
Council 1 month after written demand therefor has been
made by the Franklin County Council.

General this 12th day of May 1972.
