Stock Retention Incentive Scheme Payment Review Committee

PURSUANT to section 13 of the Department of Agriculture
Act 1953, I hereby appoint
Ernest Albert Lee (Chairman) of Christchurch,
Eric William McCallum of Hawera, and
Malcolm Leitch Cameron of Wellington
for the purposes of section 12 of the said Act to be members
of a special committee (to be known as “Stock Retention
Incentive Scheme Payment Review Committee”)—
(a) To investigate such cases as are referred to it of pay-
ments made or to be made under the Stock Retention
Incentive Scheme which is intended to supplement
sheep farmers’ incomes and thereby assist the sheep
industry to preserve its productive capacity, and
(b) To recommend the action it considers should be taken
to realise the intention of the scheme in the cases
it investigates.

Fire District.

His Excellency the Governor-General has announced that
The Queen’s Commendation for Valuable Service in the
Air has been awarded to Mr Peter Allan Tait, of Nelson,
in recognition of exceptional flying skill and personal courage
in transporting by helicopter an injured Russian fisherman
from a Russian vessel off Westport on the 12th day of
July 1971.
