Boundaries of County of Otorohanga Defined
PURSUANT to section 16 of the Counties Act 1956, the
Secretary for Internal Affairs hereby defines, as set out in
the Schedule hereto, the boundaries of the County of Otoro-
hanga, the boundaries having been altered by Order in
Council made on 4 October 1971, and published in Gazette,
7 October 1971, No. 73, page 2053.
SCHEDULE
COUNTY OF OTOROHANGA
All that area in the South Auckland Land District, Otoro-
hanga County, containing 488,240 acres, more or less,
bounded by a line commencing at a point in Block I, Kawhia
North Survey District, where the southern shores of the Aotea
Harbour meet the sea coast, and proceeding generally north-
easterly along the southern and eastern shores of that harbour
to the south-western corner of Moerangi No. 3D1, in Block
II, Kawhia North Survey District; thence generally easterly
along the southern boundary of No. 3D1, the south-western
and south-eastern boundaries of part Moerangi No. 3D2, the
original southern boundary of Section 2, Block III, Kawhia
North Survey District, as shown on S.O. Plan 17999, the
eastern boundary of Section 1 of the said Block III, the
south-eastern and eastern boundaries of part Section 7, Block
XV, Karioi Survey District, the southern boundary of Section
8 of the said Block XV, to and along the western side of
Koponui Road to the angle in that road nearest the south-
western corner of Section 4, Block IV, Kawhia North Survey
District; thence along a right line to that south-western
corner; thence along the southern boundary of Section 4
aforesaid, and the western, southern, and eastern boundaries
of Section 7, Block I, Pirongia Survey District, to the angle
in that last-mentioned boundary in line with a right line,
bearing 295° 51' from the south-western corner of Section 6
of that Block I; thence along that right line to that last-
mentioned south-western corner, along the southern boundary
of the said Section 6, the western, southern, and south-eastern
boundaries of part Moerangi No. 4, and the north-eastern
boundary of part Pirongia West No. 3A, to Trig. Station 1922
(Mahaukura), in Block III, Pirongia Survey District; thence
south-westerly along the north-western boundaries of
Mangauika B2 No. 2 and the north-western boundary of
Section 6, Block III, Pirongia Survey District, to the western-
most corner of that section; thence generally easterly along
the south-western boundary of the said Section 6, the eastern
boundary of Section 18, Block VII, Pirongia Survey District,
the northern boundary of Part Section 3, Block VII, afore-
said, the western boundaries of Kaipiha 1C, 2, 3, and 4, the
western and northern boundaries of Kaipiha 5, the western
boundaries of Sections 10 and 9, Block IV, Pirongia Survey
District, the northern boundaries of that Section 9 and Section
11, Block IV, aforesaid, and the last-mentioned boundary
produced to the middle of the Mangauika Stream; thence
generally northerly down the middle of that stream to, and
southerly up, the middle of the Waipa River to a point in
line with the northern boundary of Ouruwhero 3E1A in
Block XII, Pirongia Survey District; thence generally easterly
along a right line to and along the northern boundary of the
said 3E1A and the production of that boundary to the eastern
side of Te Awamutu Bartons Corner Road, the northern
boundaries of Lot 1, D.P. 23897, and Part Lot 10, D.P. 23042,
the original northern boundary of Ouruwhero 3E5B, the
northern boundaries of Lot 2, D.P. 15110, Lot 1, D.P. 6657,
Parts Ouruwhero 3°3, 3°2C2, and 3°1, the western and
southem boundaries of the land on D.P. 22692, the southern
boundary of Part Section 1, Block X, Puniu Survey District,
to the western side of the North Island Main Trunk Railway;
thence northerly along that western side to a point in line
with the northern boundary of Part Ouruwhero 3Y2C; thence
generally easterly along a right line to and along the last-
mentioned boundary, the northern boundary of Part Lot 2,
D.P. 12868, the western and northern boundaries of Section
7, Block X, Puniu Survey District, the northern and eastern
boundaries of Lot 1, D.P. 12868, to the southernmost corner
of Tokanui C2B; thence north-easterly along a right line to
the north-western corner of Lot 2, D.P. S. 2050; thence
generally easterly along the northern boundary of that Lot 2
and the generally northern boundary of Lot 1, D.P. S. 2050,
and that boundary produced to the eastern side of State
Highway 3; thence generally northerly along that side to
and thence easterly along the southern boundary of Lot
2, D.P. 24431, to the southernmost corner of the said Lot 2;
thence generally north-easterly along a right line to the con-
fluence of the Mangapaia Stream and the Puniu River in
Block XI, Puniu Survey District; thence generally southerly
up the middle of the Puniu River to a point in line with the
produced north-eastern boundary of Lot 1, D.P. S. 891 in
Block II, Wharepapa Survey District; thence south-easterly
along the said produced boundary, the north-eastern boundary
of Lot 1 aforesaid, the north-eastern boundaries of Parts
Sections 1 and 6, Block II, Wharepapa Survey District, a
right line across the Waipari River, the north-eastern
boundary of Lot 1, D.P. S. 2900, and the north-eastern
boundaries of Lots 1 and 2, D.P. 37228, to Trig. 1593
(Whatauri); thence generally north-easterly along the north-
western boundary of Section 9, Block VI, Wharepapa Survey
District, the north-western and northern boundaries of Part
Wharepuhunga 16B5, and the production of the last-
mentioned boundary across Aotearoa and Karaka Roads, the
northern boundaries of Sections 7 and 8, Block III, Whare-
papa Survey District, and the production of that last-
mentioned boundary to the middle of the Waikato River
(Lake Arapuni) in Block IV, Wharepapa Survey District;
thence generally southerly up the middle of that river, to and
up the middle of the Waiteti Stream to its approximate
source at peg CXXX in Block XI, Ranginui Survey District,
as shown on S.O. Plan 20946²; thence generally southerly along
the western boundaries of Pouakani No. 2, as shown on M.L.
Plan 20091, Section 1, Block XVI, Ranginui Survey District,
and part Pouakani B No. 11 to the north-eastern corner of
part Maraeroa A No. 3A; thence westerly along the northern
boundary of the said part A No. 3A to its intersection in
Block XIV, Ranginui Survey District, with a right line
between Trig. Station 1641 (Rangitoto), in Block IV, Pakau-
manu Survey District, and the source of the Ongarue River,
near Trig. Station 1390 (Pureora), in Block III, Hurakia
Survey District; thence generally north-westerly along that
right line to its intersection, in the said Block XIV, with the
south-eastern boundary of Rangitoto A No. 31B; thence
north-easterly along the south-eastern boundary of that block
to its easternmost corner; thence generally north-westerly
along the south-western boundaries of part Rangitoto B
to the easternmost corner of part Rangitoto A34A; thence
generally northerly along a right line to and along the
north-eastern boundaries of Lots 2 and 1, D.P. S. 7133 and
the eastern and northern boundaries of part Lot 1, D.P.
35582, to the westernmost corner of that last-mentioned
