PURSUANT to section 32 of the Customs Act 1966, I, Maurice Teasdale Leech, Acting Comptroller of Customs, hereby revoke the appointment* of the place described in the Schedule hereto as a temporary examining place for the purpose of that Act.

Consenting to Raising of Loans by Certain Local Authorities

PURSUANT to section 3 of the Local Authorities Loans Act 1956 (as amended by section 3 (1) of the Local Authorities Loans Amendment Act 1967), the undersigned Assistant Secretary to the Treasury, acting under powers delegated to the Secretary to the Treasury by the Minister of Finance, hereby consents to the borrowing by the local authorities mentioned in the Schedule hereto of the whole or any part of the respective amounts specified in that Schedule.

The Life Insurance Act 1908—Proposed Release of Deposits

———

THE Phoenix Assurance Co. Ltd. has given notice to the Public Trustee that it has ceased to carry on life insurance business in New Zealand and that it proposes to withdraw the deposit which has been made by it pursuant to section 3 of the above-mentioned Act.

The Public Trustee therefore gives notice, pursuant to section 12 (2) of the above-mentioned Act, that being satisfied that no moneys are insured or contracted to be insured by the company in or by policies and other contracts issued, granted, or entered into in New Zealand by the company and still in force he proposes to release to the company on or after the 30th day of December 1972 the deposit made with him by the company.

Any objections to the release of the deposit should be lodged with the Public Trustee at the Public Trust Office, Lambton Quay, Wellington 1, on or before the 30th day of December 1972.

PURSUANT to section 26 of the Municipal Corporations Act 1954, the Secretary for Local Government hereby defines, as set out in the Schedule hereto, the boundaries of the City of Invercargill, County of Southland, and the Waihopai, Awarua, and Wallacetown Ridings of Southland County; the previous boundaries having been altered by Order in Council made on 20 March 1972, published in Gazette, 29 March 1972, No. 29, p. 666.

CITY OF INVERCARGILL

ALL that area in the Southland Land District containing 13,759 acres, more or less, bounded by a line commencing at the south-eastern corner of part Section 33, Block XV, Invercargill Hundred, and proceeding northerly along the eastern boundaries of that part Section 33 and Lot 1, D.P. 4400, to Bay Road, along a right line to and along the eastern boundary of Lot 3, D.P. 6960, to a point 500 links south of the northern side of Heywood Street; thence westerly along a right line to a point on the western boundary of Lot 1, D.P. 6960, 500 links south of the north-western corner of that lot; thence northerly along the western boundaries of Lot 1, D.P. 6960, and Lot 1, D.P. 6686, to a point in line with the northern boundary of Lot 16, D.P. 4265 (Grasmere Domain, New Zealand Gazette, 1955, p. 1767); thence easterly along a right line to the north-western corner of that Lot 16; thence northerly along the eastern boundary of Lot 1, D.P. 6686, and its production to the middle of Renfrew Street; thence easterly along the middle of Renfrew Street to a point in line with the middle of Sussex Street; thence northerly to and along the middle of Sussex Street to a point in line with the southern boundary of Section 52, Block XV, Invercargill Hundred; thence westerly to and along that boundary and the southern boundary of Section 53, Block XV, Invercargill Hundred, to the western boundary of that section; thence northerly along that boundary and its production to and along the western boundary of Section 38, Block XV, Invercargill Hundred, to the southern side of West Plains Road; thence easterly along that roadside to the middle of Sussex Street; thence northerly along the middle of Sussex Street produced to the middle of West Plains Road; thence easterly along the middle of West Plains Road to a point in line with the western boundary of Lot 8, D.P. 5824; thence northerly along a right line to the south-western corner of that Lot 8; thence easterly along the southern boundaries of Lots 8 and 9, D.P. 5824, along a right line to and along the southern boundary of Lot 10, D.P. 5824, to its easternmost point; thence northerly along the eastern boundary of the said Lot 10 to the southern boundary of Lot 4, D.P. 2323; thence easterly along that last-mentioned boundary and its production to the eastern side of No. 6 State Highway; thence southerly along the western boundary of Lot 2, D.P. 4209, and its production to a point in line with the western boundary of Lot 1, D.P. 3739; thence along a right line to the north-western corner of that Lot 1; thence easterly and southerly along the northern and eastern boundaries of Lot 1 aforesaid and the last-mentioned boundary produced to a point in line with the northern boundary of part Lot 26, D.P. 5; thence easterly to and along that boundary to the western boundary of part Section 15, Block IV, Invercargill Hundred; thence southerly along that boundary and the western boundaries of Lots 1 and 2, D.P. 431, and part Section 15 aforesaid to a line parallel to, and 250 links north of, the northern side of Bainfield Road; thence easterly along that line to its intersection with the production of another line parallel to, and 250 links east of, the eastern side of Queens Drive, as defined on D.P. 2176; thence southerly to and along that line and lines parallel to, and 250 links east of, the eastern side of Queens Drive, as defined on D.P. 2498, to the north-eastern boundary of part Section 10, Block IV, Invercargill Hundred; thence south-easterly and southerly along the north-eastern and eastern boundaries of part Section 10 aforesaid to the generally northern boundary of Section 89, Block I, Invercargill Hundred; thence easterly generally along that boundary and the right (north) bank of the old Waihopai River to its intersection with the centre line of the new channel of that river, defined as Section 59 on S.O. Plan 6730; thence easterly along that centre-line and its production to its intersection with a line parallel to, and 300 links north-east of, the original centre line of Racecourse Road, as defined on S.O. Plans 6356 and 200; thence south-easterly along that line to the south-eastern boundary of part Section 2, Block II, Inver-
