Tariff and Development Board Notice No. 198—Public Inquiry into Import Duties and Import Licensing Affecting Glucose, etc.

  1. The Tariff and Development Board has been requested by the Minister of Customs to inquire into and report on the nature and degree
    of the protection, if any, which is considered appropriate in respect of goods classified within the Tariff items set out in the Schedule to this
    notice.
  2. The Board will, in accordance with its normal procedures, conduct a public inquiry in the Boardroom, First Floor, Law Society Building,
    26 Waring Taylor Street, Wellington, on Tuesday, 27 April 1971, commencing at 10.30 a.m.
  3. Any person who intends to tender evidence should lodge 12 copies of a typewritten statement of the evidence, both public and con-
    fidential, to be presented under oath at the public inquiry, at the Board’s office no later than Tuesday, 13 April 1971. In preparing this evidence
    the “Notes for Guidance of Witnesses” prepared by the Board may be of assistance. Copies of these notes may be obtained from the Board’s
    office.

Tariff and Development Board Notice No. 199—Public Inquiry into Import Duties Affecting Wooden Tool Handles

  1. The Minister of Customs has requested the Board to inquire into and report on the nature and degree of protection it considers ap-
    propriate on the goods set out in the First Schedule to this notice. This will include the question of import licensing as it affects these goods.
  2. The Board will, in accordance with its normal procedure, conduct a public inquiry in the Boardroom, First Floor, Law Society Building,
    26 Waring Taylor Street, Wellington, on Tuesday, 4 May 1971, commencing at 10.30 a.m.
  3. Any person who intends to tender evidence should lodge 12 copies of a typewritten statement of the evidence, both public and confidential,
    to be presented under oath at the public inquiry, at the Board’s office no later than Tuesday, 20 April 1971. In preparing this evidence the
    “Notes for Guidance of Witnesses”, prepared by the Board, may be of assistance. Copies of these notes may be obtained from the Board’s
    office.
  4. Following receipt of a report from the Emergency Protection Authority, the Government has accepted the recommendation of the
    Authority that urgent action is necessary in relation to the importation of certain of the goods subject to the present inquiry. These goods,
    and the nature of the temporary measures taken pending inquiry and report by the Board, are described in the Second Schedule to this notice.
