Authorising the Construction of the New Plymouth - Bell Block Motorway in the City of New Plymouth and the County of Taranaki
ARTHUR PORRITT, Governor-General ORDER IN COUNCIL At the Government House at Wellington this 26th day of October 1971 Present:
His Excellency The Governor-General in Council
Pursuant to section 3 of the Public Works Amendment Act 1947, His Excellency the Governor-General, at the request of the National Roads Board, and acting by and with the advice and consent of the Executive Council, hereby authorises the construction of a motorway to be known as the New Plymouth-Bell Block Motorway, commencing at the intersection of Chilman Street and Waiwaka Terrace, in the City of New Plymouth, and proceeding in an easterly direction to cross the Waiwhakaiho River and Queens Road and thence approximately parallel to the southern side of Atiawa Street to Smart Road; it will run parallel to and then cross the New Plymouth - Wellington railway, then cross Katere Road and proceed generally in a north-easterly direction to cross Egmont, Henwood, and Paraite Roads, thence parallel to and to the south of No. 3 State Highway and terminating on this highway approximately 15 chains east of the junction of the highway with Brown Road in the County of Taranaki.
