Amending Declaration of Land in the West Coast
Acclimatisation District to be a Wildlife Refuge

A PROCLAMATION
PURSUANT to section 14 of the Wildlife Act 1953, I, Sir
Arthur Espie Porritt, Baronet, the Governor-General of New
Zealand, acting on the joint recommendation of the Minister
of Internal Affairs, and the Minister of Forests and the Minister
of Lands (being the Ministers charged with the administration
of the departments of State having the control of the
land of the Crown affected by this Proclamation), hereby
proclaim as follows:
- (i) This Proclamation may be cited as the Lake Haupiri
Wildlife Refuge Declaration.
(ii) This Proclamation shall come into force on the day
after the date of its notification in the Gazette. - The Proclamation made on the 14th day of August 1957*,
declaring the area described in the First Schedule hereto to
be a wildlife refuge for the purposes of the Wildlife Act 1953,
is hereby revoked. - The area described in the Second Schedule hereto is
hereby declared to be a wildlife refuge for the purposes
of section 14 of the Wildlife Act 1953.
FIRST SCHEDULE
LAKE Haupiri, situated in the County of Grey, Westland Land
District: all that area situated in Block III, VI, and VII,
Kopara Survey District, known as Lake Haupiri, and the area
included within a line parallel to, and 20 chains distant from,
the shores of the said lake.
As the same is shown on plan marked I.A. 52/131 deposited
in the Head Office, Department of Internal Affairs, Wellington,
and thereon edged red.
SECOND SCHEDULE
WESTLAND LAND DISTRICT—GREY COUNTY
ALL that area containing 915 acres, more or less, situated
in Blocks VI and VII, Kopara Survey District, bounded by
a line commencing at a point, being the north-eastern corner
of Rural Section 4793, situated in Block VII, Kopara Survey
District, and proceeding westerly along the northern boundary
of Rural Section 4793 aforesaid, to its westernmost point; thence
north-easterly along the south-eastern boundary of Rural
Section 3264 to its intersection with a line 20 chains distance
from and parallel to the shore of Lake Haupiri; thence
northerly generally along the last-mentioned line to its intersection
with the southern side of the road fronting Rural
Section 3264; thence easterly generally along the southern
side of the said road and the Nelson Creek Kopara Road
to its junction with the northernmost corner of Rural Section
4799; thence south-westerly along the north-western boundary
of the last-mentioned Rural Section to the point of commencement.
As shown on a plan marked I.A. WIL 34/26/2 deposited
in the Head Office, Department of Internal Affairs, Wellington,
and thereon edged red.

14th day of October 1971.

Acclimatisation District to be a Wildlife Refuge
ARTHUR PORRITT, Governor-General
A PROCLAMATION
PURSUANT to section 14 of the Wildlife Act 1953, I, Sir Arthur
Espie Porritt, Baronet, the Governor-General of New Zealand,
acting on the joint recommendation of the Minister of Internal
Affairs and the Minister of Lands (being the Minister
charged with the administration of the department of State
having the control of the land of the Crown affected by this
Proclamation), hereby proclaim as follows:
- (i) This Proclamation may be cited as the Jacobs River
Hundred Wildlife Refuge Declaration;
(ii) This Proclamation shall come into force on the day
after the date of its notification in the Gazette. - That part of the Proclamation made on the 12th day of
May 1960*, declaring the area described in the First Schedule
hereto to be a Wildlife refuge for the purposes of the Wildlife
Act 1953, is hereby revoked. - The area described in the Second Schedule hereto is
hereby declared to be a Wildlife refuge for the purposes of
section 14 of the Wildlife Act 1953.
