Pursuant to the Public Works Act 1928, His Excellency the Governor-General, acting by and with the advice and consent of the Executive Council, hereby directs the sale of land described in the Schedule hereto, such land being no longer required for the purposes for which it was acquired.

HAWKE'S BAY LAND DISTRICT
ALL that piece of land containing 2 roods and 32.6 perches situated in Block III, Motuotaraia Survey District, Waipukurau County, Hawke's Bay R.D., being part Lot 2, Deeds Plan 553, being part Block 59, Waipukurau Crown Grant District. Part certificate of title, H.B. Volume 61, folio 7, Hawke's Bay Land Registry; as the same is more particularly delineated on the plan marked M.O.W. 21965 (S.O. 5391) deposited in the office of the Minister of Works at Wellington, and thereon coloured orange, edged orange.

Directing the Sale of a Leasehold Estate in Land in the City of Wanganui

HIS EXCELLENCY THE GOVERNOR-GENERAL IN COUNCIL
Pursuant to the Public Works Act 1928, His Excellency the Governor-General, acting by and with the advice and consent of the Executive Council, hereby directs the sale of the leasehold estate in the land described in the Schedule hereto held from the Whanganui College Board of Trustees by Her Majesty the Queen for a term of 21 years from the 29th day of January 1968, under and by virtue of Memorandum of Lease No. 745960, Wellington Land Registry, the leasehold estate in the land being no longer required for the purpose for which it was acquired.

WELLINGTON LAND DISTRICT
ALL that piece of land containing 31.32 perches situated in the City of Wanganui, Wellington R.D., being Lot 9, Deeds Plan 379, being part Whanganui Industrial School Reserve; as the same is more particularly delineated on the plan marked P.W.D. 120575 (S.O. 21217) deposited in the office of the Minister of Works at Wellington, and thereon coloured orange.

Pursuant to the Local Elections and Polls Act 1966, His Excellency the Governor-General, acting by and with the advice and consent of the Executive Council hereby makes the following order.
ORDER
For the purposes of regulation 14 of the Local Elections and Polls (Special Voting) Regulations 1968*, all special votes in respect of the triennial general election of members of the Chatham Islands County Council, held on the 9th day of October 1971, shall be deemed to have been received by the returning officer before the close of the poll if they were posted at any post office in any part of New Zealand other than the Chatham Islands not later than 4 October 1971 and were received by the returning officer not later than 16 October 1971.

Pursuant to the State Services Act 1962, His Excellency the Governor-General, acting by and with the advice and consent of the Executive Council, hereby makes the following order.
ORDER
-
Title and commencement-(1) This order may be cited as the Public Service Salary Order (No. 3) 1971.
(2) This order shall be deemed to have come into force on the 15th day of January 1971. -
Salaries of members of the State Services Commission-
(1) The salaries of the members of the State Services Commission shall be as follows:

Officers of Government of Ross Dependency Appointed
ARTHUR PORRITT, Governor-General
WHEREAS, by the Order in Council dated the 30th day of July 1923*, made under the British Settlements Act 1887 of the United Kingdom Parliament, the Governor-General and Commander-in-Chief of New Zealand for the time being (therein and hereinafter called the Governor) was appointed to be the Governor of the Ross Dependency, and all the powers and authorities which by the said order were given and granted to the Governor for the time being of the Dependency were thereby vested in him;
And whereas the Governor was thereby further authorised and empowered to make all such rules and regulations as might lawfully be made by Her Majesty's authority for the peace, order, and good government of the Dependency;
And whereas, by regulations made by the Governor on the 14th day of November 1923β , it was enacted that all persons appointed by the Governor for the time being of the Dependency should have such power and authority as might be granted them in due course of law, and might be empowered to do such things as might be necessary or desirable to ensure that the laws in force in the Dependency are duly observed and complied with in every respect, and to do all things necessary or expedient for the peace, order, and good government of the Dependency, and to safeguard and preserve Her Majesty's rights and sovereignty over and in respect of the Dependency;
And whereas it is expedient that the persons hereinafter named be appointed officers of the Government of the Dependency;
