Decision of the Indecent Publications Tribunal

IN the matter of the Indecent Publications Act 1963, and in the matter of an application by the Comptroller of Customs in respect of the books Sex, Pornography, and the Law, vol. 1 and 2, by William Edward Sprague, published by Academy Press, San Diego, California, and Oral Sex and the Law, vol. 1 and 2, by Alfred Ellison, published by Academy Press, San Diego, California.

There was no appearance by the applicant, nor of the publisher’s representative in New Zealand. Accordingly no submissions were made.

DECISION OF THE TRIBUNAL

THESE books are introduced as serious studies of the topics given in the titles. In each case, however, the text serves as the vehicle for presenting profuse illustrations of sexual
