SPECIAL ORDER

IN pursuance and exercise of the powers vested in it in that behalf by the Counties Act 1956 and subsequent amendments and of all and each and every other power and authority thereunto enabling it, the Levels County Council, acting on behalf of the County of Levels hereby resolves by special order to transfer the property contained in the Schedule attached hereto from the Claremont Riding to the Otipua Riding of the said Levels County.

SCHEDULE

ALL that area in the Canterbury Land District, County of Levels, containing 12 acres 2 roods 30 perches, more or less, bounded by a line commencing at the easternmost corner of Lot 2, D.P. 18967, in Block I, Patiti Survey District, and proceeding south-easterly along the north-eastern boundaries of Lots 5 and 6, D.P. 22702, to the left bank of Saltwater Creek; thence north-westerly generally along that bank to a point in line with the south-eastern boundary of Lot 2, D.P. 18967; thence north-easterly to and along that boundary to the point of commencement.

This special order was passed at a special meeting of the Levels County Council held on 7 April 1971 and confirmed at an ordinary meeting held on 5 May 1971.

Special Order Made by Malvern County Council Altering Riding Boundaries

PURSUANT to section 88 of the Counties Act 1956, the Secretary for Internal Affairs hereby publishes the following special order made by the Malvern County Council.

SPECIAL ORDER

IN pursuance and in exercise of the powers vested in it by the Counties Act 1956 and all amendments thereto and all other Acts (if any) enabling in that behalf, the Malvern County Council hereby resolves by way of special order as follows:

That the Malvern County Council, pursuant to section 23 of the Counties Act 1956, hereby resolves, by way of special order, that:

  1. The present division of the County of Malvern into five ridings is revoked and in lieu thereof the said County shall be divided into six ridings to be called respectively, Courtenay Riding, Hawkins Riding, Waimakariri Riding, Homebush Riding, Selwyn Riding, and Tawera Riding, which said ridings are respectively described in the Schedule hereto.

  2. The Malvern County Council shall consist of 12 members, who shall be elected as follows:

The electors of the Courtenay, Hawkins, Waimakariri, Homebush, Selwyn, and Tawera Ridings shall each elect two Councillors.

  1. The alteration hereby made shall take effect on and after 30 June 1971.

WAIMAKARIRI RIDING

ALL that area in the Canterbury Land District, Malvern County, containing 32,000 acres, more or less, bounded by a line commencing at a point in the middle of the Waimakariri River in line with the north-western boundary of Lot 2, D.P. 6892, Block VIII, Kowai Survey District, and proceeding south-easterly generally down the middle of that river to a point in line with the middle of Bloak House Road, Block III, Hawkins Survey District; thence south-easterly and south-westerly to and along the middle of that road to the middle of West Coast Road (No. 73 State Highway); thence north-westerly along the middle of that road to a point in line with the middle of Deans Road (No. 72 State Highway); thence south-westerly to and along the middle of that road to the middle of the Hawkins River, Block I, Hawkins Survey District; thence north-westerly generally up the middle of that river to the middle of Barrs Road, Block XVI, Kowai Survey District; thence south-westerly generally along the middle of that road, Bluff Road, Pig Saddle Road, and Wyndale Road and northerly along the middle of that road and Springfield Road and easterly along that last-mentioned road to a point in line with the middle of the road forming the north-eastern boundary of Lot 3, D.P. 3817, Block XI, Kowai Survey District; thence northerly to and along the middle of that road to a point in line with the south-western boundary of Rural Section 18936; thence south-easterly and north-easterly to and along that boundary and the south-eastern boundaries of Rural Sections 18936, 37145, and 32030 and the production of the last-mentioned boundary to the middle of West Coast Road (No. 73 State Highway); thence north-westerly along the middle of that highway to a point in line with the eastern boundary of part Rural Section 3712, comprised in certificate of title, 4C/875; thence northerly to and along that boundary and its production, passing through part Reserve 2806 to the middle of the Kowai River, Block XI, Kowai Survey District; thence north-easterly down the middle of that river to a point in line with the middle of Rubicon River; thence north-westerly up the middle of that river to a point in line with the middle of Rubicon Road, Block VII, Kowai Survey District; thence north-easterly generally to and along the middle of that road to a point in line with the western boundary of Rural Section 11084; thence northerly to and along that boundary and easterly along the northern boundaries of that Rural Section and Rural Section 9609 to and north-easterly along south-eastern boundary of Rural Section 31866 and its production to the middle of Kowai Road; thence north-westerly along the middle of that road to a point in line with the north-western boundary of part Rural Section 9937 comprised in certificate of title, 407/270; thence north-easterly to and along that boundary and south-easterly along the north-eastern boundary of that rural section and its production to the middle of the West Coast Railway; thence north-easterly along the middle of that railway to a point in line with the north-western boundary of Lot 2, D.P. 6892, and continuing north-easterly to and along that boundary and its production to the point of commencement.

HAWKINS RIDING

ALL that area in the Canterbury District, Malvern County, containing 45,450 acres, more or less, bounded by a line commencing at a point in the middle of the Waimakariri River in line with the middle of Bloak House Road, Block III, Hawkins Survey District, and proceeding south-easterly down the middle of that river to a point in line with the middle of Cooks Road, Block IV, Hawkins Survey District; thence southerly generally to and along the middle of that road, Creykes Road, Miles Road, Ansons Road, Stranges Road, and Coaltrack Road to Two Chain Road; thence south-westerly along the middle of that road to the middle of the Selwyn River; thence north-westerly generally up the middle of that river to a point in line with the middle of McLaughlins Road, Block XIII, Hawkins Survey District; thence north-easterly generally to and along the middle of that road, Clintons Road, Homebush Road, West Coast Road (No. 73 State Highway), and Bloak House Road and its production to the point of commencement.

COURTENAY RIDING

ALL that area in the Canterbury Land District, Malvern County, containing 55,000 acres, more or less, bounded by a line commencing at a point in the middle of the Waimakariri River in line with the middle of Cooks Road, Block IV, Hawkins Survey District, and proceeding south-easterly down the middle of that river to a point in line with the eastern boundary of Rural Section 9616, Block V, Rolleston Survey District; thence southerly to and along that boundary to the northern boundary of Rural Section 12536; thence easterly along that boundary and its production to the middle of Intake Road; thence southerly generally along the middle of that road, Station Road, Halkett Road, Sandy Knolls Road, and Aylesbury Road and its production to the middle of the South Island Main Trunk Railway; thence south-westerly along the middle of that railway and its production to the middle of the Selwyn River; thence north-westerly generally up the middle of that river to the middle of Two Chain Road; thence north-easterly along the middle of that road to a point in line with the middle of Coaltrack Road; thence northerly generally to and along the middle of that road, Stranges Road, Ansons Road, Miles Road, Creykes Road, and Cooks Road and its production to the point of commencement.

ALL that area in the Canterbury Land District, Malvern County, containing 65,850 acres, more or less, bounded by a line commencing at a point in the middle of the Selwyn River in the middle of Wairiri Road (No. 72 State Highway) in Block VIII, Hororata Survey District, and proceeding south-easterly generally down the middle of that river to a point in line with the
