No. M. 163/71

In the Supreme Court of New Zealand
Wellington District
(Wellington Registry)

IN THE MATTER of the Charitable Trusts Act 1957, and IN THE MATTER of “THE L. B. WOOD TRAVELLING SCHOLARSHIP FUND” and IN THE MATTER of a scheme for variation of the mode of administering the said fund:

PUBLIC notice is hereby given that the L. B. Wood Travelling Scholarship Board has prepared a scheme under the provisions of Part III of the Charitable Trusts Act 1957 for variation of the trusts arising under the will of Lawrence Berry Wood, of Fendalton, near Christchurch, in New Zealand, retired inspector of schools, deceased. The scheme provides:

(a) That the scholarships shall be awarded as the board thinks fit at any university or university institution in Great Britain;

(b) That any person graduating within three (3) years from a university institution in New Zealand shall be eligible;

(c) That the value be not fixed;

(d) That one (1) year is to be spent at the University of Edinburgh;

(e) That the board is to include the chairman of the University Grants Committee and that Board members may appoint deputies;

(f) For regulation of board meetings and payment of travelling expenses.

The scheme has been prepared because the terms of the will are such that the board considers the scholarships cannot now function in accordance with the intentions of the deceased.

The application of the board for approval of the scheme is to be heard in the Supreme Court, at Wellington, on Wednesday, the 21st day of July 1971, at the hour of 10 o’clock in the forenoon. Any person desiring to oppose the scheme is hereby required to give written notice of his intention to do so to the Registrar of the Supreme Court at Wellington and the L. B. Wood Travelling Scholarship Board and the Attorney-General not less than 7 clear days before the said 21st day of July 1971.

The address for service of the L. B. Wood Travelling Scholarship Board is at the offices of Messrs Chapman, Tripp and Co., Solicitors, 20 Brandon Street, Wellington.
