The Motur Launoh (Manawatu River) Notice 1970-Manawatu County Council
Pursuant to the Motur Launch Regulations 1962*, the Minister of Marine and Fisheries hereby gives the following notice:

  1. (a) This notice may be cited as The Motor Launch (Manawatu River) Notice 1970.
    (b) This notice shall come into force on the date of its publication in the Gazette, and shall remain in force for a period of 2 years after that date.
  2. Subject to the conditions set forth in the Second Schedule hereto, regulations 11 and 12 of the Motur Launch Regulations 1962 shall not apply with respect to the area described in the First Schedule hereto.
  3. The Motur Launch (Manawatu River) Notice 1966+ is hereby revoked.
    FIRST SCHEDULE
    ALL that area of water in the Manawatu River extending upstream for not more than 1 mile from the upstream side of the Whirokino Trestle Bridge.
    SECOND SCHEDULE
    THE area shall be marked as follows:
  4. On both banks of the Manawatu River at the Whirokino Bridge there shall be placed notice boards measuring not less than 2 ft 6 in. by 2 ft, painted bright orange with black lettering in the following form:
    "NOTICE
    MOTOR LAUNCH REGULATIONS 1962
    Motor launches and water skiers may travel at speeds greater than 5 miles per hour from this bridge upstream to the notice boards erected on both banks not more than 1 mile distant."
  5. On both banks of the river at a distance of not more than 1 mile measured upstream from the Whirokino Bridge there shall be placed notice boards measuring not less than 2 ft 6 in. by 2 ft, painted bright orange with black lettering in the following form:
    "NOTICE
    MOTOR LAUNCH REGULATIONS 1962
    From this point downstream to Whirokino Bridge motor launches and water skiers may travel at speeds greater than 5 miles per hour."

The Motur Launch (Waihao River) Notice 1970-Waitaki Valley Acclimatisation Society
Pursuant to the Motur Launch Regulations 1962*, the Minister of Marine and Fisheries hereby gives the following notice:

  1. (a) This notice may be cited as the Motur Launch (Waihao River) Notice 1970.
    (b) This notice shall come into force on the date of its publication in the Gazette and shall remain in force until further notice.
  2. Subject to the conditions set forth in the Second Schedule hereto regulation 11 and 12 of the Motur Launch Regulations 1962 shall not apply with respect to:
    (a) The area firstly described in the First Schedule hereto on any Sunday after 12 noon, except those Sundays between the 10th day of April and the 10th day of June inclusive and between the 1st day of September and the 10th day of October inclusive; and
    (b) The area secondly described in the First Schedule hereto except between the 10th day of April and the 10th day of June inclusive, and between the 1st day of September and the 10th day of October inclusive.

FIRST SCHEDULE
FIRSTLY, all that area of water in the Waihao River in the County of Waimate bounded on the sides by lines commencing at a common point on the west bank of the Dead Arm at its junction with the river proper:
(a) The first of such lines running eastwards to a point on the north-eastern corner of the Waihao Box Reserve; and
(b) The second of such lines running due southwest to a point on the opposite bank of the river from the commencing point.
Secondly, all that area of water of approximately 2 miles in length in the Dead Arm of the Waihao River in the County of Waimate between the following lines:
(a) At the south, the first of the lines described in the area firstly described in the First Schedule; and
(b) At the north, the line commencing on the eastern bank of the Dead Arm of the river at a point approximately 2 miles north of the Box, where the Dead Arm first turns inland from the sea coast, and running due southwest to a point on the opposite bank.

SECOND SCHEDULE
(1) During the times in which the above regulations are not operative by virtue of this notice, the reserved area shall be marked as follows:
(a) 8 ft transit posts painted with 12 in. bright orange and black bands shall be erected on the banks of the river at the end of the appropriate boundary lines.
(b) On each transit post there shall be fastened a notice board measuring not less than 2 ft 6 in. by 2 ft painted bright orange with black lettering in the following form:
"NOTICE
MOTOR LAUNCH REGULATIONS 1962
For a distance of approximately 2 miles from this notice in the Dead Arm of the river parallel to the sea coast the speed limit of 5 miles per hour shall not apply."
(2) At the public launching ramp near the Waihao Box there shall be placed a notice board measuring not less than 2ft6in. by 2 ft painted bright orange with black lettering in the following form:
"NOTICE
MOTOR LAUNCH REGULATIONS 1962
Except between 10 April and 10 June and between 1 September and 10 October the speed limit of 5 miles per hour shall not apply in the area of river and Dead Arm defined by notice boards:
(a) On any Sunday after 12 noon for a distance of 2 miles northward of a line drawn south-west across the river from a point on the west bank of the Dead Arm at its junction with the river proper;
(b) On any day for a distance of 2 miles northwards of a line draw east across the river from a point on the west bank of the Dead Arm at its junction with the river proper."
