PURSUANT to the Public Works Act 1928, His Excellency the Governor-General, acting by and with the advice and consent of the Executive Council, hereby directs the sale of the land described in the Schedule hereto, such land being no longer required for the purpose for which it was acquired.

ALL that piece of land containing 7 acres 2 roods 1 perch, situated in the Borough of Whakatane, being Lot 30B 2E, No. 1, Rangitaiki Parish. All certificate of title, Volume 620, folio 3, South Auckland Land Registry.

As the same is more particularly delineated on the plan marked P.W.D. 71786 (S.O. 24750) deposited in the office of the Minister of Works at Wellington, and thereon edged red.

PURSUANT to section 175 (3) of the Harbours Act 1950, His Excellency the Governor-General, acting by and with the advice and consent of the Executive Council, hereby authorises the Waitemata County Council to reclaim from the Waiwera Estuary an area of 9 acres and 39 perches, more or less, as shown edged red on plan marked M.D. 13998 and deposited in the office of the Marine Department at Wellington.

PURSUANT to the Navy Act 1954, His Excellency the Governor-General has approved the following appointments, promotions, and terminations of appointments in the Royal New Zealand Navy.

Commander J. I. Quinn is released (age) and placed on the Retired List, to date 27 December 1970.

Commander W. R. Williams is released (at own request) and placed on the Retired List, to date 1 December 1970.

Temporary Commander A. R. Mitchell, engagement is extended to 20 January 1976.

Lieutenant Commander C. M. Herbertson is granted the temporary rank of Commander, to date 4 August 1970.

Lieutenant Commander H. C. G. Richards, RN, is entered into the RNZN in the rank of Lieutenant Commander with seniority of 1 April 1967, to date 1 October 1970.

Temporary Lieutenant Commander J. A. Barnes is promoted to the rank of Lieutenant Commander, to date 1 September 1970.

Temporary Lieutenant Commander I. M. McGibbon is promoted to the rank of Lieutenant Commander, to date 1 November 1970.

Temporary Lieutenant Commander R. B. Follas is promoted to the rank of Lieutenant Commander, to date 1 November 1970.

Lieutenant D. L. Douglas is promoted to the rank of Lieutenant Commander and reposted, to date 1 September 1970.

Lieutenant R. I. Woodroofe is promoted to the rank of Lieutenant Commander and reposted, to date 16 September 1970.

Lieutenant J. H. Steer is granted the temporary rank of Lieutenant Commander for the period 30 June 1970 to 11 October 1970 inclusive.

Lieutenant P. R. E. Brown is granted the temporary rank of Lieutenant Commander, to date 25 September 1970.

Lieutenant D. R. Reyburn is released (age) and placed on the Retired List, to date 17 April 1971.

Sub Lieutenant J. E. Greenwood is promoted to the rank of Lieutenant and reposted, to date 1 September 1970.

Sub Lieutenant M. A. Smith is promoted to the rank of Lieutenant and reposted, to date 1 October 1970.

Sub Lieutenant P. G. Muir is granted the temporary rank of Lieutenant, to date 1 September 1970.

Midshipman S. A. Lee is released (appointment terminated), to date 24 August 1970.

Midshipman M. McKinley is released (appointment terminated), to date 6 July 1970.
