Tariff and Development Board Notice No. 187—Public Inquiry into Import Duties and Import Licensing Affecting Certain Armoured Suction and Delivery Hose for the Conveyance of Oil Products (Ex T.I. 59.15.09)

  1. In its report No. 98 of 8 October 1969 to the Minister of Industries and Commerce the Tariff and Development Board recommended that, in view of the need for more time for development and testing, involving both the New Zealand manufacturer and the user industries, the question of duties and import licensing in respect of armoured suction and delivery hose of internal diameters up to 6 in., suited for the conveyance of oil products (Ex T.I. 59.15.09) should be reviewed by the Board after 12 months. This recommendation was accepted by Government.

  2. Following consultations with interested parties the Board will conduct a public inquiry in the Boardroom, First Floor, Law Society Building, 26 Waring Taylor Street, Wellington, on Thursday, 18 February 1971, commencing at 10.30 a.m.

  3. Any person who intends to tender evidence should lodge 12 copies of a typewritten statement of the evidence, to be presented under oath at the public inquiry, with the undernamed no later than Tuesday, 2 February 1971. In preparing this evidence the “Notes for Guidance of Witnesses” prepared by the Board may be of assistance. Copies of these notes may be obtained from the under-named.

Tariff and Development Board Notice No. 185—Public Inquiry into Import Duties and Import Licensing Affecting Audio-frequency Electric Amplifiers and High-fidelity tuning units

  1. The Minister of Customs has referred to the Tariff and Development Board for inquiry and report the question of protection for the goods described below:

“That part of a radio broadcast receiver which incorporates the radio frequency, mixing, intermediate frequency and detecting stages but does not incorporate the output or power amplification stage and which:

(a) is designed to receive frequencies from 495 KHZ to 1650 KHZ, and
(b) has a band-width of at least 7.5 KHZ ±3 decibels.”

  1. In the course of its inquiry the Board will consider the provisions of the tariff items involved, the rates of duty and the application of different rates to particular classes of goods. The Board will also consider the question of import licensing as it affects the goods under inquiry.

  2. The Board will, in accordance with its normal procedures, conduct a public inquiry in the Boardroom First Floor, Law Society Building, 26 Waring Taylor Street, Wellington, on Tuesday, 2 February 1971, commencing at 10.30 a.m.

  3. Any person who wishes to tender evidence should lodge 12 copies of a typewritten statement of the evidence, to be presented under oath at the public inquiry at, the Board’s office no later than Friday, 15 January 1971. In preparing this evidence the “Notes for Guidance of Witnesses”, available from the Board’s office, may be of assistance. Twelve copies each of both public and confidential evidence are required.
