His Excellency the Governor-General has been pleased to approve the following appointments, promotions, cancellation of commission, extensions of commission and age for retirement, transfers to the Retired List, amendments and transfers of officers of the Royal New Zealand Air Force, pursuant to section 15 of the Royal New Zealand Air Force Act 1950.

REGULAR AIR FORCE

GENERAL DUTIES BRANCH

Appointment

Flight Lieutenant John Barry Clements (79293) to be Temporary Squadron Leader, with effect from 17 August 1970.

Promotion

Flight Lieutenant Ian Samuel Ritchie (897890) to be Squadron Leader, with seniority and effect from 17 August 1970.

Cancellation of Commission

The commission of Acting Pilot Officer Lester Stephen Mason (84412) is cancelled, with effect from 2 July 1970.

TECHNICAL BRANCH

Appointment

Engineer Division

Squadron Leader (Acting) Noel James Work (70890) to be Temporary Squadron Leader, with effect from 1 August 1970.

Extension of Commission and Age for Retirement

Squadron Leader (temp.) Johnston Vivian William Thomas, M.B.E., B.E.M. (71831), is granted an extension of his short-service commission and age for retirement for a period to expire on 1 January 1973.

Transfers to the Retired List

Group Captain Bertram Colin Thomas Fitzgerald, O.B.E., R.E.A. (70213), is transferred to the Retired List “A”, with effect from 15 September 1970.

Signals Division

Squadron Leader Alex Fraser Johnston (71298) is transferred to the Retired List “A”, with effect from 20 July 1970.

ADMINISTRATIVE AND SUPPLY BRANCH

Appointment

Secretarial Division

Flight Lieutenant David Ian Proctor, A.C.A., A.C.I.S., A.N.Z.I.M. (74678), to be temporary Squadron Leader, with effect from 20 July 1970.

Amendment

The notice published in the Gazette, No. 46, 6 August 1970, p. 1367, related to Squadron Leader Graham Mead (71141) is hereby amended to read “Squadron Leader Graham Bernard Mead (71141) is transferred to the Retired List ‘A’, with effect from 3 June 1970.”

Extension of Commission and Age for Retirement

Special Duties Division

Squadron Leader John Robert Wiltshier (82513) is granted an extension of his short-service commission and age for retirement for a period to expire on 15 December 1978.

RESERVE OF AIR FORCE OFFICERS

Transfers

Flight Lieutenant John Leslie Wood (79365) is transferred from the General Duties Branch, Regular Air Force for a period to expire on 31 May 1974.

Flight Lieutenant John William Nightingale (131265) is transferred from the Administrative and Supply Branch (Special Duties Division), Regular Air Force for a period to expire on 20 April 1974.

Transfer to the Retired List

Flight Lieutenant John David Saunderson Cooper (74962) is transferred to the Retired List “B”, with effect from 18 September 1970.

Amendment

The notice published in the Gazette, No. 46, 6 August 1970, p. 1367, relating to Flying Officer (temp.) Graham Alexander Worsfold is hereby amended to read “Flying Officer (temp.) Graham Alexander Worsfold to be Flying Officer, with seniority and effect from 17 May 1969.”

Inspector of Narcotics Appointed

PURSUANT to section 13 (1) of the Narcotics Act 1965, the Minister of Health hereby authorises Barry Rice Haycock, Public Health Pharmacist of Hamilton, to enter the premises of any person who carries on the business of a producer, manufacturer, seller, or distributor of any narcotic, or who otherwise undertakes the supply or administration of any narcotic, and to demand the production of, and to inspect any books or documents relating to dealings in any narcotic, and to inspect, weigh, measure, and record the stocks of narcotics.
