Amending Declaration of Land in the Nelson Acclimatisation District to be a Wildlife Refuge (Lake Matiri)

A PROCLAMATION

PURSUANT to section 14 of the Wildlife Act 1953, I, Sir Arthur Espie Porritt, Baronet, the Governor-General of New Zealand, acting on the joint recommendation of the Minister of Internal Affairs, and the Minister of Forests and the Minister of Lands (being the Ministers charged with the administration of the departments of State having the control of the land of the Crown affected by this Proclamation), hereby proclaim as follows:

  1. (i) This Proclamation may be cited as the Lake Matiri Wildlife Refuge Declaration;
    (ii) This Proclamation shall come into force on the day after the date of its notification in the Gazette.

  2. That part of the Proclamation made on the 3rd day of September 1957*, declaring the area described in the First Schedule hereto to be a wildlife refuge for the purposes of the Wildlife Act 1953, is hereby revoked.

  3. The area described in the Second Schedule hereto is hereby declared to be a wildlife refuge for the purposes of section 14 of the Wildlife Act 1953.

FIRST SCHEDULE

LAKE Matiri and surrounding land, in the County of Murchison, Nelson Land District: All that area in the Nelson Land District, Murchison County, situated in Blocks I, II, V, and VI, Matiri Survey District, containing by admeasurement 1,305 acres, more or less, and known as Lake Matiri, and the area of State forest included in a line running parallel to and 40 chains from the shores of that lake.

As the same is more particularly delineated on a plan marked I.A. 52/211 deposited in the Head Office, Internal Affairs Department, Wellington, and thereon edged red.

SECOND SCHEDULE

NELSON LAND DISTRICT—WAIMEA COUNTY

ALL that area of land situated in Blocks I, II, V, and VI Matiri Survey District bounded by a line commencing at a point on the eastern side of the formed track along Bay Creek 2 chains distant from the shore of Lake Matiri and proceeding north-easterly, southerly and north-westerly along a line parallel to and 2 chains distant from the shore of Lake Matiri to its intersection with the eastern side of the formed track along the western side of Lake Matiri; thence generally northerly along the eastern side of that track to the point of commencement.

As the same is shown on plan numbered S.O. 10946 and marked I.A. Wil. 34/10/3 deposited in the Head Office, Department of Internal Affairs, Wellington, and thereon edged red.

Given under the hand of His Excellency the Governor-General, and issued under the Seal of New Zealand, this 26th day of September 1970.

Land Taken for the Ngauranga-Basin Reserve Motorway in the City of Wellington

A PROCLAMATION

PURSUANT to the Public Works Act 1928, I, Sir Arthur Espie Porritt, Baronet, the Governor-General of New Zealand, hereby proclaim and declare that the land described in the Schedule hereto is hereby taken for the Ngauranga-Basin Reserve Motorway.

SCHEDULE

WELLINGTON LAND DISTRICT

ALL that piece of land containing 20.8 perches situated in the City of Wellington, Wellington R.D., and being Lot 5, D.P. 549, being part Section 92, City of Wellington. All certificate of title, Volume 71, folio 65, Wellington Land Registry.

Given under the hand of His Excellency the Governor-General, and issued under the Seal of New Zealand, this 22nd day of September 1970.
