NORTH CANTERBURY ELECTRIC POWER BOARD
RESOLUTION MAKING SPECIAL RATE
I, Louis Seager Carpenter, Chairman of the North Canterbury
Electric Power Board, do hereby certify that the following
resolution was duly passed at a meeting of the North Canterbury
Electric Power Board, held in Rangiora on the 21st day
of July 1970:
"In pursuance and exercise of the powers vested in it in that
behalf by the Local Authorities Loans Act 1956 and by all
other powers enabling it thereto, the North Canterbury Electric
Power Board hereby resolves as follows:
"That, for the purpose of providing the interest, repayment
of principal, and other charges on a loan of $150,000, authorised
to be raised by the North Canterbury Electric Power
Board under the provisions of the Electric Power Boards Act
1925 and the Local Authorities Loans Act 1956, for the purpose
of supplying and distributing electrical energy for the benefit
of the North Canterbury electric power district, and for such
purpose to do all or any of such matters and things which the
Board is empowered to do by the Electric Power Boards Act
1925 and its amendments, and by all other powers and authorities
it enabling, the North Canterbury Electric Power Board
hereby makes and levies a special rate of one fifty-fifth of a cent
in the dollar on the rateable capital value of all rateable property
in the North Canterbury electric power district; such
special rate to be an annually recurring rate during the currency
of the said loan, and be payable yearly on 1 August in each and
every year during the currency of the said loan, being a
period of 20 years, or until the loan is fully paid off."

ASHBURTON COUNTY COUNCIL
RESOLUTION MAKING SPECIAL RATE
Methven Pensioners' Flats Loan 1970, $10,000
PURSUANT to the Local Authorities Loans Act 1956, the
Ashburton County Council hereby resolves as follows:
"That, for the purpose of providing the annual charge on
a loan of ten thousand dollars ($10,000), authorised to be
raised by the Ashburton County Council, under the abovementioned
Act, for the purpose of providing accommodation
for old people at Methven, the said Ashburton County Council
hereby makes a special rate of 0.000456 of one cent in the
dollar ($) upon the rateable value on the basis of the capital
value of all rateable property in the Ashburton County; and
that the special rate shall be an annual-recurring rate during
the currency of the loan, and be payable yearly in one sum
on the 1st day of September in each and every year during
the currency of the loan, being a period of 40 years, or until
the loan is fully paid off."

ADVERTISEMENT OF CANCELLING
Notice is hereby given that the Registrar of Friendly Societies
has, pursuant to section 70 of the Friendly Societies Act 1909,
by writing under his hand dated this 22nd day of July 1970,
cancelled the registry of Court Lady Glasgow No. 8261 of The
Wellington District of the Ancient Order of Foresters Friendly
Society, Register No. 144/28 held at Wellington, on the ground
that the said court has ceased to exist.

NOTICE OF CERTIFICATE OF PROTECTION
In the matter of section 164 of the Mining Act 1926, and
in the matter of regulation 66, Mining Regulations 1926,
Reprint 1968/28; and in the matter of an application by
James Cyril Hille Chapman, of Kurow, company director,
for certificate of protection in respect of extended quartz
claim 10626, and special claims applications Nos. 150, 151,
and 152/70 in the Warden's Court at Cromwell:
Notice is hereby given that at a sitting of the Warden's Court
at Cromwell, on the 14th day of July 1970, on summary application
by the said James Cyril Hille Chapman, the Warden
Mr J. D. Murray, S.M., prescribed that a certificate of protection
shall apply to all the above claims above an altitude of 2,200
ft above sea level between the 1st day of May and 31st day
of October (inclusive) in each year, such prescription to be
notified by publication in the New Zealand Gazette.

NOTICE OF PRIVATE BILL
THE ROMAN CATHOLIC BISHOPS EMPOWERING AMENDMENT BILL
The Roman Catholic Bishops of New Zealand hereby give
notice that they intend to apply for leave to bring in the abovementioned
Private Bill during the present session in Parliament.
The object of the Bill is to enable the Archbishops and
Bishops (who are registered as proprietors of various interests
in land and have various powers of sale and lease and otherwise
under the Roman Catholic Bishops Empowering Act
1954) to grant perpetually renewable leases, leases taking effect
at a future date more than 6 months after the date of the
lease, or leases conferring an option to purchase and the power
to require payment for goodwill or of a fine, forfeit, or premium
in respect of a lease: And it is desired that such powers and
the power to delegate such powers should be conferred upon
those Archbishops and Bishops.
The promoters of the Bill are the Roman Catholic Archbishop
and Bishops of New Zealand.
Communications or notices to the promoters may be sent
to Messrs Foot, Lee and Foot, Solicitors, 217 Lambton Quay,
Wellington (P.O. Box 702).
A copy of the Bill may be inspected at the offices of Messrs
