Honours and Awards

His Excellency the Administrator of the Government has announced that The Queen’s Commendation for Brave Conduct has been awarded to Station Officer Trevor Henry Sampson and Fireman David Allan Weir, of New Plymouth, in recognition of their gallant services during rescue operations when two men were trapped in an excavation at New Plymouth on 22 December 1969.

Assignment of Foreshore Licence for Jetty and Shed at Taieri Mouth, on the Taieri River

PURSUANT to the Harbours Act 1950, the Secretary for Marine hereby gives notice that the licence granted to Colin Desmond Ward on 9 November 1967* to use and occupy part of the foreshore and bed of the river at Taieri Mouth as a site for a jetty and shed is hereby assigned to David Ernest Shanks.

Setting Apart Maori Freehold Land as a Maori Reservation

PURSUANT to section 439 of the Maori Affairs Act 1953, the Maori freehold land described in the Schedule hereto is hereby set apart as a Maori reservation for the purposes of a meeting house, dining hall, and recreation ground for the common use and benefit of the Taiwhakaea hapu and all other Maori people in the locality.

Temporary Protection of Industry

NOTICE is hereby given that the Emergency Protection Authority has been requested to undertake an inquiry, in terms of the Tariff and Development Board Amendment Act 1967, and to report, in terms of section 10D of that Act, concerning the following goods:

Artists’ oil colours; water soluble colour tablets; and modellers’ enamel, falling within Tariff item ex 32.10.09.

PURSUANT to section 26 of the Municipal Corporations Act 1954, the Secretary for Internal Affairs hereby defines, as set out in the Schedule hereto, the boundaries of the City of Hastings, the County of Hawke’s Bay, and the Heretaunga Riding of Hawke’s Bay County; the boundaries having previously been altered by Order in Council made on 26 January 1970, published in Gazette, 29 January 1970, No. 4, page 98.
