Reservation of Land
Pursuant to the Land Act 1948, the Minister of Lands hereby sets apart the land described in the Schedule hereto as a reserve for recreation purposes.

Import Control Exemption Notice (No. 9) 1978
Pursuant to regulation 16 of the Import Control Regulations 1964*, the Minister of Customs hereby gives notice as follows:
(1) (a) This notice may be cited as the Import Control Exemption Notice (No. 9) 1970.
(b) This notice shall come into force on 1 July 1970.
(2) Goods of the classes specified and for the purposes of the Customs Tariff falling within the Tariff items in the Schedule hereto, imported from and being the produce or manufacture of any country, are hereby exempted from the requirements of a licence under the said regulations.

Amendment to Rules of Bay of Islands Acclimatisation Society
Pursuant to section 29 of the Wildlife Act 1953, the Minister of Internal Affairs hereby gives notice that he has approved the following new rule made by the Bay of Islands Acclimatisation Society to stand in place of rule 9 as originally approved by the Minister of Internal Affairs on 22 January 1957 and as amended on 29 July 1964:

Rule 9 (1) The Society shall be governed by a Council consisting of 22 councillors (hereinafter referred to as councillors) one of whom shall be elected President and one of whom shall be elected Vice-President in accordance with subclauses (3) and (4) of this rule. Such councillors shall be elected from and by the general membership in accordance with the provisions of subclause (2) of this rule and shall not be eligible for election unless they have their permanent and principal or only place of residence within the district.
(2) At least three of the councillors shall be resident within the subdistrict comprising the regions including and adjoining Kawakawa and Moerewa; at least two of the councillors shall be resident within the subdistrict comprising the region including and adjoining Kaikohe; at least one shall be resident within the subdistrict comprising the region including and adjoining Ohaeawai; at least one shall be resident within the subdistrict comprising the region including and adjoining Okaihau; at least one shall be resident within the subdistrict comprising the region including and adjoining Kerikeri; at least one councillor shall be resident within the subdistrict of Ruapekapeka, Towai, Maromaku; at least three councillors shall be resident within the subdistrict comprising the Hokianga County. The remaining nine councillors may reside in any part of the district.
(3) The President shall, so long as he continues to be a member of the Society, hold office for a term of 3 years. He shall be eligible for re-election, subject to his term of office as councillor not having expired; or, if that term of office has expired, subject to his re-election as councillor by ballot of the general membership.
(4) The Vice-President shall, so long as he continues to be a member of the Society, hold office for 1 year. He shall be eligible for re-election, subject to his term of office as councillor not having expired; or, if that term of office has expired, subject to his re-election as a councillor by ballot of the general membership.
(5) In those years when the term of office of the President expires, immediately following upon the declaration of the result of the election of members of the Council the President shall vacate office and an elected Chairman shall call for nominations for the office of President. Nominations shall be confined to members of the newly elected Council.
(6) Each year when the term of office of Vice-President expires, immediately following upon the declaring the result of the election of members of the Council the Chairman shall call for nominations for the office of Vice-President. Such nominations shall be confined to members of the newly elected Council.
(7) In the event of only one nomination for each office of President and Vice-President, the Chairman shall declare each nominee duly elected to office but if there be more than one nomination for either office a secret ballot of members present at the meeting shall be taken.
(8) (a) At the annual general meeting held in 1971 seven councillors, including one from Hokianga, shall retire, but shall be eligible for re-election. The councillors may agree among themselves as to who shall retire, but failing agreement the matter shall be determined by lot.
(b) At the annual general meeting held in 1972, seven of the councillors who did not retire in 1971, including one from Hokianga, shall retire, but shall be eligible for re-election. The councillors may agree among themselves as to who shall retire, but failing agreement the matter shall be determined by lot.
(c) At each subsequent general meeting the councillors who have been longest on the Council without being re-elected shall retire, but shall be eligible for re-election. The vacancies created under this subclause of this rule shall be filled by ballot as provided in rule 10 hereof.
(9) Vacancies on the Council caused by the retirement of members shall be filled from such members as will maintain the subdistrict representation as set out in subclause (2) of this rule.
(10) Where any member of the Council ceases to have his permanent and principal or only place of residence within the district, he shall cease to be a member of the Council from the commencement of the next annual general meeting.
(11) In the event of any member of the Council dying, resigning, or vacating his office, the Council may appoint to the vacancy any member of the Society who is available and eligible. Such appointee shall hold office for the balance of the term of his predecessor. Any such appointment shall maintain the proportional or district representation as set out in subclause (2) of this rule.
(12) A member of the Council shall vacate his office if he has absented himself from three consecutive meetings of the Council without leave of absence having been granted by the Council.
