Abolishing and Reconstituting North Shore United Urban
Fire District

ORDER IN COUNCIL
At the Government House at Wellington this 23rd day
of March 1970
Present:

HIS EXCELLENCY THE GOVERNOR-GENERAL IN COUNCIL
PURSUANT to the Fire Services Act 1949, His Excellency the
Governor-General, acting by and with the advice and consent
of the Executive Council, hereby makes the following order.


ORDER

  1. This order shall come into force on the 1st day of April

  2. The North Shore United Urban Fire District is hereby
    abolished.

  3. The areas comprising the City of Takapuna, the Boroughs
    of Birkenhead, Devonport, East Coast Bays, and Northcote,
    and the Glenfield County Town of the County of Waitemata
    are hereby constituted a united urban fire district, to be known
    as the North Shore United Urban Fire District.

  4. The number of members to be elected to represent the
    Council of the City of Takapuna, the Councils of the Boroughs
    of Birkenhead, Devonport, East Coast Bays, and Northcote,
    and the Council of the County of Waitemata on the Board of
    the district hereby constituted shall be four, who shall be
    elected in the following manner:

(a) One member by resolution of the Devonport Borough
Council to represent that Council;

(b) One member by resolution of the Takapuna City Council
to represent that Council;

(c) One member to represent the Birkenhead Borough
Council and the Northcote Borough Council;

(d) One member to represent the East Coast Bays Borough
Council and the Waitemata County Council.

  1. The member to represent the Birkenhead Borough Council
    and the Northcote Borough Council shall be elected by resolu-
    tion of a selection committee of four persons, two of whom
    shall be members of the Birkenhead Borough Council,
    nominated by that Council, and two of whom shall be mem-
    bers of the Northcote Borough Council, nominated by that
    Council:

Provided that in the event of the said selection committee
failing to reach a majority decision, the Birkenhead Borough
Council and the Northcote Borough Council shall each submit
a nomination of one person to the Minister of Internal Affairs,
who shall thereupon appoint one of such persons to represent
the said Councils of the Boroughs of Birkenhead and
Northcote.

  1. The member to represent the East Coast Bays Borough
    Council and the Waitemata County Council:

(a) For the 3-year term of office commencing on the 1st
day of January 1972, and for each alternate 3-year
term of office thereafter, shall be elected by resolution
of the Waitemata County Council and shall be a
member of the Waitemata County Council represent-
ing the riding in which the Glenfield County Town is
situated; and

(b) For the 3-year term of office commencing on the 1st day
of January 1975, and for each alternate 3-year period
of office thereafter, shall be elected by resolution of
the East Coast Bays Borough Council.

  1. Until the members of the North Shore Fire Board come
    into office, on the 1st day of January 1972, the members of the
    North Shore Fire Board in office immediately prior to the
    1st day of April 1970 shall be members of the Board of North
    Shore United Urban Fire District hereby constituted.

  2. Until the members of the North Shore Fire Board come
    into office on the 1st day of January 1972, the member of the
    Board in office immediately prior to the 1st day of April 1970
    who was elected by resolution of the East Coast Bays Borough
    Council shall represent both that Council and the Waitemata
    County Council.

to be United to Form the Taupo Pest Destruction District

HIS EXCELLENCY THE GOVERNOR-GENERAL IN COUNCIL
PURSUANT to the Agricultural Pests Destruction Act 1967, His
Excellency the Governor-General, acting by and with the advice
and consent of the Executive Council, hereby makes the
following declaration.


DECLARATION

  1. (1) This declaration may be cited as the Taupo and East
    Taupo Pest Destruction District Declaration 1970.

(2) This declaration shall come into force on the 1st day of
April 1970.

  1. The Taupo Pest Destruction District, which was constituted
    by Order in Council on the 21st day of October 1953*, and
    the East Taupo Pest Destruction District, which was constituted
    by Order in Council on the 8th day of May 1957†, are hereby
    united to form one district having the name of the Taupo Pest
    Destruction District, the boundaries of which shall be those
    specified in the Schedule hereto; and it is hereby further
    declared that the basis on which the Pest Destruction Board
    for the said district shall first levy its general rate shall be
    an acreage basis.

SCHEDULE

BOUNDARIES OF THE TAUPO PEST DESTRUCTION DISTRICT

ALL that area in the South Auckland, Hawke’s Bay, and
Wellington Land Districts, Otorohanga, Taumarunui, Taupo,
Rotorua, and Whakatane Counties, and Taupo Borough, con-
taining 1,366,400 acres, more or less, bounded by a line
commencing at the confluence of the Waipapa and Waikato
Rivers in Block XVI, Wharepapa Survey District, and
proceeding south-easterly generally up the middle of the
Waikato River to and up the middle of the Paetataromoa
Stream to and along the south-western boundary of part Lot 3,
D.P. S. 7273, to its southernmost point in Block II, Otukotara
Survey District; thence north-easterly along the south-eastern
boundaries of part Lot 3 and Lot 2, D.P. S. 7273, Lot 2, D.P.
S. 7274, Lot 2, D.P. S. 7085, Lots 5 and 4, D.P. S. 4985, Lots
5, 4 and 3, D.P. 19572, Lots 2 and 1, D.P. 30838, Sections 6, 5,
and 4, Block III, Takapau Survey District, and Lot 1, D.P.
30839, to the easternmost corner of the last-named lot; thence
south-easterly along the south-western boundaries of Paeroa
East 3A and 3C, as shown on M.L. 4440, to the eastern bound-
ary of 3C, aforesaid; thence northerly along the eastern
boundaries of Paeroa East 3C, 3A, and 4A (M.L. 4440) to and
westerly along the northern boundaries of 4A, aforesaid, and
Sections 8 and 7, Block XV, Paeroa Survey District, to and
northerly along the eastern boundaries of Section 29, Block
XV, aforesaid, and Section 20, Block XI, Paeroa Survey
District, the eastern end of a public road, the eastern bound-
aries of Section 19, Block XI, aforesaid, and Sections 29 and
19, Block VII, Paeroa Survey District, to the northern boundary
of that last-named section; thence westerly along the northern
boundaries of Sections 19, 20, 21, 30, and 23, Block VII,
aforesaid, and a quarry reserve to the eastern side of a public
road; thence northerly generally along that roadside, the south-
western boundary of part Paeroa East 4B 1A, the south-eastern
and north-eastern boundaries of part Section 5, Block VII,
aforesaid, the generally north-eastern boundary of Section 8,
Block VII, aforesaid, and its production to and up the middle
of the Waiotapu Stream to a point in line with the north-eastern
side of a public road forming the north-eastern boundary of
Section 7, Block VII, aforesaid; thence northerly generally to
and along that roadside, along a right line to and along the
north-eastern boundary of Section 9, Block VII, aforesaid, and
the north-eastern side of Waiotapu Loop Road to and along
the north-western boundary of part Paeroa East 1A West to
and northerly along the western side of a public road to the
northern boundary of part Rotomahana Parekarangi 3A 1A;
thence westerly along that boundary and its production to the
north-western side of No. 5 State Highway; thence north-
easterly along that roadside to the south-western boundary of
part Rotomahana Parekarangi 6P 2B; thence south-easterly
along a right line to and along that boundary to and north-
easterly along the south-eastern boundary of part 6P 2B,
aforesaid, and its production to a point in line with the
