Revision of District Valuation Rolls

Pursuant to the Valuation of Land Act 1951, the Valuer-General has revised, as at 1 March 1970, the district valuation rolls for the districts named in the following Schedule.

Temporary Protection of Industry

Notice is hereby given that the Emergency Protection Authority has been requested to undertake an inquiry, in terms of the Tariff and Development Board Amendment Act 1967, and to report, in terms of section 10D of that Act, concerning the following goods:

Crayons, falling within Tariff item 98.05.08.

Tariff and Development Board Notice No. 160—Public Inquiry

—New Zealand - Australia Free Trade Agreement—Elimination of Margins—Certain Machinery and Mechanical Appliances (Tariff Headings 84.12, ex 84.22 and ex 84.56)

  1. Tariff and Development Board Notice No. 137 (New Zealand Gazette of Thursday, 30 October 1969) gave notice of the Board's intention to recommend, in respect of the goods listed in the Schedule to that notice, reduction of the rates of duty applicable to imports of Australian origin to the levels of the British Preferential Tariff or such lower rates as were indicated in the notes to the Schedule.

  2. Objections, supported by statements of evidence, have been lodged in respect of the goods set out in the following Schedule, and the Board will, in accordance with its normal procedures, conduct a public inquiry in the Boardroom, First Floor, Law Society Building, 26 Waring Taylor Street, Wellington, on Thursday, 14 May 1970, commencing at 10.30 a.m.

  3. The purpose of the inquiry will be to hear evidence (including any further evidence submitted pursuant to this notice) on the proposed action as it affects these goods. The Board will also consider evidence placed before it regarding any of the rates of duty applicable to these goods and import licensing as it affects them.

  4. Twelve copies of a typewritten statement of the evidence, to be presented under oath at the public inquiry by the person tendering it, should reach the Board's office no later than Thursday, 30 April 1970. In preparing this evidence the 'Notes for Guidance of Witnesses', prepared by the Board may be of assistance. Copies of these notes may be obtained from the Board's office.
