Merger of the Electric Supply Districts of the King Country
Electric Power Board and the Ohakune Borough Council
Exempting Land in the Nelson Land District from the Operation of Part III of the Coal Mines Act 1925

PURSUANT to the Electricity Distribution Commission Act
1967, His Excellency the Governor-General, acting by and
with the advice and consent of the Executive Council, hereby
makes the following order.
ORDER
- MERGER OF DISTRICT
The licensed area of supply of the Ohakune Borough
Council, as defined in an Order in Council dated 8 August
1955 and published in the New Zealand Gazette on 18
August 1955, shall be merged for electrical purposes in the
King Country Electric Power Board. - RIGHTS AND OBLIGATIONS OF SUPPLY AUTHORITY
Pursuant to section 34 of the Electricity Distribution Commission Act 1967, the King Country Electric Power Board
shall exercise all rights and undertake all obligations previously exercised by the Ohakune Borough Council in carrying-on its electricity undertaking. - REPRESENTATION
These provisions shall take effect on the 1st day of April - The Borough of Ohakune and that part of Waimarino
County formerly supplied by the Ohakune Borough Council's
electricity undertaking shall be a combined district of the
King Country Electric Power Board and shall elect one
member to the Board.
The Order in Council dated 16 September 1959, apportioning representation on the King Country Electric Power Board,
and published in the New Zealand Gazette on 17 September
1959, got p. 1298, is hereby amended by including in the
Schedule thereto:

The first Representative of the combined district shall be
appointed by the Ohakune Borough Council and shall hold
office until the next general election of local body members.
4. STAFF
The King Country Electric Power Board will continue to
employ in its electricity undertaking the persons hitherto
employed in the Ohakune Borough Council's electricity
undertaking, consisting of an overseer, an electrical inspector,
and a lineman, at not less than the salaries or wages received by them on 1 April 1969. Such employment by the
Board shall nevertheless be subject to the satisfactory discharge of their duties by these officers.
5. DATE OF MERGER
The merger shall come into force on 1 April 1969.

Governor-General, acting by and with the advice and consent
of the Executive Council, hereby authorises the Whakatane

to the Coal Mines Act 1925, His Excellency the
Governor-General hereby gives the following notice.

The land described in the Schedule hereto is exempted from
the operation of Part III of the Coal Mines Act 1925.

All that area of land containing 1 rood 33.2 perches, more
or less, being Sections 655, 656, 657, 694, 695, and 696, Town
of Reefton, and being the balance of the land in certificate
of title, Volume 37, folio 184; as is more particularly delineated, in red, on a plan held in the Head Office of the
Mines Department, Wellington.
