Rights Conferred on the Minister of Electricity to Dam, Use, Discharge, and Divert Waters of, or into, Lakes Tekapo, Pukaki, and Ohau

His Excellency the Governor-General in Council
Whereas by Order in Council dated the 11th day of November 1968, published in the Gazette of 1968, Volume III, page 2071, the waters of the Fork Stream, Lake Tekapo, Lake Pukaki, and Lake Ohau and the waters flowing from Lake Tekapo, Lake Pukaki, and Lake Ohau, whether in their natural channels or in artificial channels, to the points where they discharge into Lake Benmore were declared to be of national importance;
And whereas the Minister of Electricity has applied for the right to dam, use, discharge, divert, and take the said waters for the purpose of generating electricity:
Now therefore, pursuant to section 23 of the Water and Soil Conservation Act 1967, His Excellency the Governor-General, acting by and with the advice and consent of the Executive Council, hereby grants to the Minister of Electricity the right to dam, use, discharge, divert, and take the said waters, as set forth in the First Schedule hereto, for the period set forth in the Second Schedule hereto, and subject to the conditions set forth in the Third Schedule hereto.
FIRST SCHEDULE
The rights so granted comprise the rights:

1. To dam the waters of the Fork Stream in the vicinity of the place marked "A" on the plan marked M.O.W. 23405 and deposited in the office of the Minister of Works at Wellington.
