Import Duties and Import Licensing Affecting Garden Trowels

1.In addition to the matters referred to in Schedule A to Tariff and Development Board Notice No. 88, published in the New Zealand Gazette on 27 March 1969, the Board has now had referred to it, by the Minister of Customs, the question of import licensing as affecting “all steel” garden trowels.

  1. The question of duty on these articles was covered by the reference in notice No. 88 to “garden trowels” but for import licensing purposes “all steel” trowels, unlike other garden trowels, are included in item code 73.375, which is a “D” item.

  2. Interested parties are requested to forward to the Board such evidence, prepared in the manner indicated in notice No. 88, as they would propose to tender during a public inquiry on the question of import licensing affecting “all steel” garden trowels. Such evidence may be forwarded whether or not the party concerned is also submitting evidence on the question of the duty on all garden trowels.

4.In order to allow time for the preparation of evidence on this additional matter the date for receipt of evidence has been altered from 30 May 1969 (as specified in notice No. 88) to 16 June 1969, and the public inquiry, if found to be necessary, will be on a date to be announced, but not earlier than 1 month from 16 June 1969.

Dated at Wellington this 13th day of May 1969.
