Industrial Conciliation and Arbitration Act 1954—Cancellation of Registration of Industrial Union

Honours and Awards

THE Governor-General has announced that Her Majesty the Queen has been pleased to approve the award of the British Empire Medal (Civil Division) for Gallantry to Brian David Clark, 15 years of age, of Ngāio, Wellington, for his great courage in going to the assistance of a Detective Constable who had been attacked by a man armed with a knife at the Khandallah Domain on Sunday, 15 December 1968.

Revoking Declaration of State Highways and Declaring Public Highways to be State Highways

PURSUANT to section 11 of the National Roads Act 1953, the National Roads Board, acting with the written approval of the Minister of Works, hereby gives notice that the notice dated 9 March 1960, published in Gazette, 24 March 1960, Vol. I, p. 384, is hereby revoked in so far as it affects the State highways described in the First Schedule hereto; and that the public highways described in the Second Schedule hereto are declared to be State highways within the meaning and for the purposes of the National Roads Act 1953 as from and including the date of this notice.

FIRST SCHEDULE
STATE HIGHWAYS REVOKED

WHAKATANE:

No. 2 State Highway (from its junction with Eastern Boundary Road via Poroporo Corner, Whakatane River Bridge, Bridge Street, King Street, Domain Road, and Commerce Street to the southern boundary of the Borough of Whakatane).

No. 30 State Highway (from its junction with Eastern Boundary Road to Poroporo Corner).

SECOND SCHEDULE
DESCRIPTION OF STATE HIGHWAYS

WHAKATANE:

No. 2 State Highway (from its junction with Eastern Boundary Road via Marshalls Road, Landing Road Bridge, Landing Road, Domain Road, and Commerce Street to the southern boundary of the Borough of Whakatane).

No. 30 State Highway (from its junction with Eastern Boundary Road along Eastern Boundary Road to No. 2 State Highway at Marshalls Road).

NOTICE is hereby given that the Emergency Protection Authority has been requested to undertake an inquiry, in terms of the Tariff and Development Board Amendment Act 1967, and to report, in terms of section 10D of that Act, concerning the following goods:

Film packed in aluminium containers, falling within Tariff Item 37.02.09.

Dimensions of Passenger Service Vehicles

PURSUANT to regulation 106 (1) of the Passenger Service Vehicle Construction Regulations 1954*, the Secretary for Transport hereby exempts all passenger-service vehicles from the requirements of regulation 10 of the said regulations relating to dimensions, provided that:

(i) All dimensions, except that relating to the distance the vehicle or its load extends backward from the rear axle, comply with the dimensions prescribed by regulation 55 of the Traffic Regulations 1956†.

(ii) That part of the vehicle or its load which extends backward from the rear axle does not exceed 60 percent of the wheelbase of the vehicle or 9 ft 6 in., whichever is the greater.

(iii) Under all conditions of loading at least 20 percent of the weight of the laden vehicle falls on the front axle.
