WHEREAS by virtue of the notice described in the First Schedule hereto the land described in the Second Schedule hereto is now subject to Part XXIV of the Maori Affairs Act 1953 and it is desired to vary the same:
Now, therefore, pursuant to section 332 of the Maori Affairs Act 1953, the Board of Maori Affairs hereby gives notice as follows:

NOTICE

1. This notice may be cited as the Kawhia Development Scheme Amending Notice 1968, No. 1.
2. The notice referred to in the First Schedule hereto is hereby revoked.
3. The land described in the Second Schedule hereto is hereby released from Part XXIV of the Maori Affairs Act 1953.

Decision of Indecent Publications Tribunal
In the matter of the Indecent Publications Act 1963 and in the matter of an application by the Comptroller of Customs for a decision in respect of The Girls from Whisper, No. 3 published by Kings Cross Whisper Pty. Ltd., Sydney.

DECISION OF THE TRIBUNAL
This magazine has been considered by the Tribunal upon the application of the Comptroller of Customs. No submissions were received from the Comptroller but submissions from the New Zealand distributor, Mr P. B. Fisher, bookseller, of Christchurch, were considered.
The magazine is priced at 40 cents and on the front cover are the words "Not for sale to children". Its content is almost wholly pictorial displaying nude or semi-nude females with indecently suggestive or vulgar captions in most cases. It contains no literary material and is therefore devoid of literary merit. The inside back cover contains an advertisement for the sale of sound recordings which seem to be both crude and sensual. The magazine would have no appeal except to the prurient minded and the Tribunal decides it to be indecent.

Decision and Report of Indecent Publications Tribunal
In the matter of the Indecent Publications Act 1963 and in the matter of a reference to the Tribunal under section 12 (1) of the said Act by the Magistrate's Court at Dunedin for a decision and report in terms of the said section in respect of the following books:
Young Aphrodites.
An Analysis of Human Sexual Response.
The Cradle of Erotica.
Eros Modern Style.

DECISION AND REPORT
The above books were seized under a search warrant issued under section 25 (1) of the Act and London Book Shop (N.Z.) Ltd. was summoned before the Magistrate's Court at Dunedin to show cause why the said books should not be destroyed. The question of their indecency having arisen in these proceedings the Tribunal is required to make a decision and report in terms of section 12 (1) in respect of each of the said books.
At the hearing before the Tribunal the Police were represented by Mr Savage and Mr Neazor of the Crown Law Office. In respect of the books Young Aphrodites, An Analysis of Human Sexual Response, and Eros Modern Style no submissions were made but in respect of The Cradle of Erotica Mr Savage submitted that it should be held indecent or alternatively classified as indecent in the hands of persons under 18 years of age. No submissions were received by the Tribunal by or on behalf of London Book Shop (N.Z.) Ltd.
In respect of each book the Tribunal decides and reports as follows:
Young Aphrodites—Nikos Koundouros. Text by Ulrich Bass. Luxor Press Ltd. $3.70.
The Greek film (distributed by Janus) on which this book is based has been distinguished by various international awards. The story of the film is neatly summarised and serves very well to sustain the series of photographs (either stills or specially taken) which are the main constituent of the book.
