RESOLUTION MAKING SPECIAL RATE

Tiwait Peninsula (Smelter Site) Access Loan 1968—$500,000

PURSUANT to the Local Authorities Loans Act 1956, the Southland County Council hereby resolves as follows:

That, for the purpose of providing the annual charges on a loan of five hundred thousand dollars ($500,000), known as the Tiwai Peninsula (Smelter Site) Access Loan 1968, authorised to be raised by the Southland County Council under the above-mentioned Act for the purpose of providing part of the cost of constructing a road, bridge, and causeways giving access to the proposed aluminium smelter at Tiwai Peninsula, Awarua Bay, the Southland County Council hereby makes a special rate of 0.033c in the $1 upon the rateable value of all rateable property of the County of Southland; and that the special rate shall be an annual-recurring rate during the currency of the loan and be payable yearly on the 1st day of August in each and every year during the currency of the loan, being a period of 30 years, or until the loan is fully paid off.

NOTICE is hereby given that application has been made by John Craig Hislop, of Henderson, wrought-iron manufacturer, for consent to a specified departure as to the land hereinafter described, to enable the same to be used by the applicant for the purpose of wrought-iron manufacture.

The property is situated on the southerly corner of the junction of Woodruffe Avenue with George Street, Borough of Henderson, and is located in an industrial B. 2 Zone (deferred use zone).

The legal description of the land is 1 rood, more or less, being Lot No. 10 on Deposited Plan No. 19746, part Allotment 2, Parish of Waikomiti; all the land in certificate of title, Volume 1014, folio 62, North Auckland Land Registry.

The application may be examined at the office of the Henderson Borough Council, Thomas Street, Henderson, during normal office hours; and any person or body affected may object to the application by notice in writing delivered to the Town Clerk, Henderson Borough Council, Henderson, not later than 4 p.m. on the 20th day of January 1969. Every objector shall state the grounds of the objection and whether the objector wishes to be heard by the Council in support of his objection.
