Revocation of Order in Council Setting Apart Maori Freehold Land as a Maori Reservation

At the Government House at Wellington this 16th day of December 1968
Present:

HIS EXCELLENCY THE GOVERNOR-GENERAL IN COUNCIL
PURSUANT to section 439 (5) of the Maori Affairs Act 1953, His Excellency the Governor-General, acting by and with the advice and consent of the Executive Council, hereby revokes the Order in Council made on 19 December 1951 and published in Gazette, 20 December 1951, No. 92, p. 1862, setting apart and reserving the Maori freehold land described in the Schedule hereto as a Maori reservation for the common use of the descendants of Panapa Tuari as a meeting place and marae site.

HIS EXCELLENCY THE GOVERNOR-GENERAL IN COUNCIL
PURSUANT to section 11 of the Tourist Hotel Corporation Act 1956, His Excellency the Governor-General, acting by and with the advice and consent of the Executive Council, hereby declares that the land described in the Schedule hereto shall be administered by the Tourist Hotel Corporation of New Zealand for the purposes of the said Act.

WELLINGTON LAND DISTRICT—TAUMARUNUI COUNTY
ALL that area containing 17 acres 2 roods, more or less, known as the airstrip site, being part Okahukura 8, situated in Block III, Ruapehu Survey District, and being also part of the areas numbered 1 and 6 on S.O. Plans 18700 and 18819. As shown on the plan marked L. and S. 4/362F deposited in the Head Office, Department of Lands and Survey at Wellington, and thereon edged red.

The Newman Cemetery Closing (Variation) Order 1968

PURSUANT to the Burial and Cremation Act 1964, His Excellency the Governor-General, acting by and with the advice and consent of the Executive Council, hereby makes the following order.

ORDER

  1. This order may be cited as the Newman Cemetery Closing (Variation) Order 1968.
  2. The Newman Cemetery Closing Order 1968 is hereby varied by adding to clause 2 the words “except that upon the death of Alice Dowsett, widow, of Newman in the County of Ekatahuna, the body of the said Alice Dowsett may be buried in the said cemetery”.

Appointing a Member of the Engineers’ Registration Board

WHEREAS, by a warrant dated the 10th day of April 1967, Lester Frank Withers, electrical engineer, of Christchurch, was appointed a member of the Engineers’ Registration Board; and whereas the said Lester Frank Withers has resigned his position as a member of such board; now, therefore, pursuant to section 3 of the Engineers’ Registration Act 1924, I do hereby appoint
Philip William Blakeley, Esquire, electrical engineer, of Wellington,
to be a member of the Engineers’ Registration Board for the balance of the term for which the said Lester Frank Withers was appointed.
As witness my hand at Wellington this 28th day of November 1968.

Appointments in the Royal New Zealand Navy

PURSUANT to the Navy Act 1954, His Excellency the Governor-General has approved the following appointments, promotions, and terminations of appointments in the Royal New Zealand Navy.
Captain E. C. Thorne, to be granted the acting rank of Commodore from 4 December 1968, and to be granted the temporary rank of Commodore from 8 December 1968.
Lieutenant Commander S. W. Hicks, VRD, to be released (engagement completed), to date 31 December 1968, and to be placed on the Retired List, to date 1 January 1969.
Temporary Lieutenant Commander D. J. Collins, reverted to rank of Lieutenant, to date 2 December 1968.
Lieutenant C. J. Niven, RN, entered in rank of Lieutenant under 8-year short-service commission, to date 20 November 1968, with seniority of 22 October 1966.
Sub Lieutenants L. A. Mangos, M. R. M. Mason, and E. R. E. Sawyers, promoted to rank of Lieutenant, and re-appointed, to date 17 November 1968.
Third Officer S. C. Willard, WRNZNS, service in the Royal New Zealand Navy extended to 14 April 1970.
Third Officer A. J. Stubbs, WRNZNS, to be released (on marriage), to date 31 December 1968.
Pamela Olive Rita Miller, promoted to rank of Fourth Officer, WRNZNS, to date 31 October 1968, and granted temporary rank of Third Officer, WRNZNS, whilst holding present post, to date 2 December 1968.
