NOTICE

  1. This notice may be cited as the Maori Land Development Notice Gisborne 1968, No. 2.

  2. The land described in the Second Schedule hereto is hereby declared to be subject to Part XXIV of the Maori Affairs Act 1953.

  3. This notice is issued in replacement of the notice referred to in the First Schedule hereto, which is hereby revoked.

Insurance Companies' Deposits Act 1953

THE Firemans Fund Insurance Co. (incorporated in America) has given notice to the Public Trustee that it has ceased to carry on insurance business in New Zealand in respect of all classes of insurance business, and that it proposes to withdraw all its deposits which have been made by it with the Public Trustee pursuant to section 19 of the above-mentioned Act.

The Public Trustee therefore gives notice, pursuant to section 19 (3) of the above-mentioned Act, that, subject to his being satisfied that all of the liabilities of the said company in New Zealand in respect of all classes of insurance business previously carried on by the said company have been fully liquidated or provided for, he proposes to release to the company, on or after 30 November 1968, the amounts deposited with him by the said company.

Any objection to the release of the amounts deposited should be lodged with the Public Trustee at the Public Trust Office, Lambton Quay, Wellington C. 1, on or before the 31st day of October 1968.

(incorporated in America) has given notice to the Public Trustee that it has ceased to carry on insurance business in New Zealand in respect of all classes of insurance business, and that it proposes to withdraw all its deposits which have been made by it with the Public Trustee pursuant to section 19 of the above-mentioned Act.

Boundaries of the County of Ashley Defined

PURSUANT to section 16 of the Counties Act 1956, the Secretary for Internal Affairs hereby defines, as set out in the Schedule hereto, the boundaries of the County of Ashley; the boundaries having previously been altered by Order in Council made on 22 April 1968 and published in Gazette, 2 May 1968, No. 26, p. 704.

SCHEDULE

BOUNDARIES OF THE COUNTY OF ASHLEY

ALL that area in the Canterbury Land District containing 298,624 acres, more or less, bounded by a line commencing on the mean high-water mark of the sea in the middle of the Ashley River, Block VIII, Rangiora Survey District, and proceeding westerly and northerly generally up the middle of that river to Ashley Head, Block XII, Esk Survey District; thence south-easterly along a right line to Trig. L. Block Hill, south-easterly along a right line to the source of the Waipara River (South Branch), Block XI, Okuku Survey District, and south-easterly generally down the middle of that river and the middle of the Waipara River to the mean high-water mark of the sea, Block X, Teviotdale Survey District; thence south-westerly along that mean high-water mark to the point of commencement.

Boundaries of the County of Ashburton, South Rakaia Riding of the County of Ashburton, County of Ellesmere, Southbridge and Rakaia Ridings of the County of Ellesmere, County of Malvern, and Selwyn Riding of the County of Malvern Defined

PURSUANT to section 16 of the Counties Act 1956, the Secretary for Internal Affairs hereby defines, as set out in the Schedule hereto, the boundaries of the County of Ashburton, South Rakaia Riding of the County of Ashburton, County of Ellesmere, Southbridge and Rakaia Ridings of the County of Ellesmere, County of Malvern, and Selwyn Riding of the County of Malvern; the boundaries having previously been altered by Orders in Council made on 23 January 1968 and published in Gazette, 25 January 1968, No. 4, p. 74 and p. 75, and on 27 May 1968 and published in Gazette, 30 May 1968, No. 33, p. 910.

SCHEDULE

BOUNDARIES OF THE COUNTY OF ASHBURTON

ALL that area in the Canterbury Land District containing 1,503,990 acres, more or less, bounded by a line commencing at Mathias Pass in the Main Divide and proceeding south-easterly generally to and down the middle of the Mathias River and the middle of the Rakaia River to the south-eastern side of Main South Road (No. 1 State Highway); thence south-westerly along that roadside to the north-eastern boundary of Reserve 786; thence south-easterly along that boundary and the right bank of the Rakaia River and its production to the mean high-water mark of the sea; thence south-westerly along that high-water mark to the middle of the Rangitata River; thence north-westerly generally up the middle of that river, the middle of the Havelock River, the middle of the Forbes River, and the northern boundary of Run 110B to the summit of the Two Thumb Range; thence north-easterly along the summit of that range and the Main Divide to the point of commencement; excluding therefrom the Borough of Ashburton, as described in Gazette, 1967, p. 595.

BOUNDARIES OF THE SOUTH RAKAIA RIDING OF COUNTY OF ASHBURTON

ALL that area in the Ashburton County, Canterbury Land District, bounded by a line commencing at a point in the middle of the Rakaia River in line with the middle of Lauriston-Barrhill Road and proceeding south-easterly generally down the middle of that river to the south-western side of Main South Road (No. 1 State Highway); thence south-westerly along that roadside to the north-eastern boundary of Reserve 786; thence south-easterly along that boundary and the right bank of the Rakaia River and its production to the mean high-water mark of the sea; thence south-westerly along that high-water mark to a point in line with the middle of Chertsey-Kyle Road; thence north-westerly generally to and along the middle of that road, Main South Road (No. 1 State Highway), and Mitcham-Chertsey Road to the middle of Dromore-Hatfield Road; thence south-westerly generally along the middle of that road and Main South Road (No. 1 State Highway) to the middle of Dromore-Methven Road; thence north-westerly along the middle of that road and north-easterly along the middle of Mitcham Road to a point in line with the south-western boundary of R.S. 27849; thence westerly generally to and along that boundary, the south-eastern and south-western boundaries of R.S. 37627, the south-western boundary of R.S. 37626, and the south-eastern boundary of R.S. 37628 and its production to the middle of Dromore-Methven Road; thence north-
