Boundaries of County of Amuri, County of Awatere, County of Marlborough, and Hanmer Riding of County of Amuri, Upper Awatere Riding of County of Awatere, and the Croisilles - French Pass, Kenepuru, Pelorus, Spring Creek - Picton, and Wairau Ridings of the County of Marlborough Defined


PURSUANT to section 16 of the Counties Act 1956, the Secretary for Internal Affairs hereby defines as set out in the Schedule hereto the boundaries of the County of Amuri, the County of Awatere, the County of Marlborough, the Hanmer Riding of the County of Amuri, the Upper Awatere Riding of the County of Awatere, and the Croisilles - French Pass, Kenepuru, Pelorus, Spring Creek - Picton, and Wairau Ridings of the County of Marlborough, the boundaries having previously been altered by Orders in Council made on 4 August 1965 and published in Gazette, 5 August 1965, No. 43, p. 1252; and on 4 March 1968 and published in Gazette, 7 March 1968, No. 13, p. 360.


SCHEDULE

BOUNDARIES OF THE COUNTY OF AMURI

ALL that area in the Canterbury and Marlborough Land Districts containing 1,062,029 acres, more or less, bounded by a line commencing at Trig. Mount Parnassus in Block XV, Waiau Survey District, and proceeding due west to the summit of the Lowry Peaks Range; then south-westerly generally along the summit of that range to the foot of the main spur on the left bank of the Hurunui River, approximately 1½ miles downstream from the confluence of the Pahau and Hurunui Rivers; then due west to the middle of the Hurunui River; then westerly generally up the middle of that river to a point in line with the south-western boundary of Lot 2, D.P. 6080, Block XV, Mytholm Survey District; then north-westerly to and along that boundary and north-easterly generally along the general north-western boundary of that lot to a point 5 chains south of the westernmost corner of Lot 1, D.P. 6080; then south-westerly along a right line to Trig. Ben Cliberick; then north-westerly along a right line to a point 3 miles and 20 chains due east of the confluence of Lake Sumner and the Hurunui River; then due west to the said confluence; then north-westerly along the north-eastern shore of Lake Sumner
to the middle of the Marion Stream; then north-easterly up the middle of that stream to Lake Marion, and continuing north-easterly along the south-eastern shore of that lake to the northernmost point of Lake Marion; then north-westerly along a right line to Trig. H, Niggerhead; then north-easterly along a right line to the Hope River, approximately 40 chains west of the Kiwi River; then north-westerly along a right line to the Hope Pass on the summit of the Main Divide, Block X, Marion Survey District; then north-easterly generally along the summit of the Main Divide and the Spenser Mountains to Trig. Z, Belvedere Peak, Block IV, Humboldt Survey District; then southerly along the eastern boundary of Run 16A and its production to the eastern shore of Lake Tennyson, Block IV, Maling Survey District; then southerly generally along the eastern shore of that lake to the middle of the Clarence River; then southerly and easterly generally down the middle of the Clarence River to a point due west of Trig. Mount Ross, Block X, Acheron Survey District; then due east to Trig. Mount Ross; then south-easterly along a right line to the source of the Conway River; then southerly generally down the middle of the Conway River to the confluence of the Gelt River; then south-westerly along a right line to the point of commencement.


COUNTY OF AWATERE

ALL that area in the Marlborough, Nelson, and Canterbury Land Districts bounded by a line commencing at the middle of the mouth of the Awatere River and proceeding generally south-westerly up the middle of that river to a point in line with the south-western boundary of Section 30, Wakefield Downs Registration District, in Block VIII, Clifford Bay Survey District; then north-westerly to and along that boundary and its production to the middle line of the Redwood Pass Road; then south-westerly along that middle line to the intersection with the middle line of the unformed legal road forming the south-west boundary of Section 29, Wakefield Downs Registration District; then north-westerly along the middle line of the said unformed road and the south-west boundary of part Lot 8, D.P. 620, and its productions across the South Island Main Trunk Railway and the south-west boundary of part Section 2, Block V, Clifford Bay Survey District, and its production across State Highway No. 1 to the south-east boundary of Lot 1, D.P. 1688; then north-easterly along a right line to and along the south-east boundary of part Lot 1, D.P. 953, and north-westerly along the north-eastern boundary to the northern corner of the said Lot 1; then south-westerly along the north-west boundary of the said Lot 1 and its production to and along the north-west boundary of Lot 1, D.P. 1688, and its production to the middle of Boundary Stream in Block IV, Clifford Bay Survey District; then north-westerly along the said middle line to Maxwell Pass, and westerly and southerly along the middle of a tributary of the Taylor River to its confluence with the Taylor River in Block IX, Taylor Pass Survey District; then due south to the south-western side of Taylor Pass Road and southerly generally along that roadside to a point due north of the confluence of the Taylor Pass Creek with the Taylor River in Block XIII, Taylor Pass Survey District; then due south to the middle of the Taylor River; then south-westerly generally up the said middle line to a point in line with the south-west boundary of Section 44, Omaka Registration District, in Block XII, Taylor Pass Survey District; then north-westerly to and south-westerly generally along the watershed between the Wairau and Awatere Rivers to its junction in Block I, Upcot Survey District, with the eastern boundary of Run 220; then generally northerly, westerly, and south-westerly along the eastern, northern, and north-western boundaries of the said Run 220 (Richmondale) to the Saxton Saddle in Block V, Molesworth Survey District; then generally south-westerly and southerly along the north-western and western boundaries of Run 226 (Molesworth) to a point in Block IV, Wairau Survey District, bearing 100° true, distant approximately 1 mile from Trig. Station BW; then generally south-westerly along the south-eastern watershed of the Wairau River, through Trig. Station F, to Mount Tarndale in Block XVI, Rainbow Survey District; then generally westerly along the southern watershed of the said Wairau River, through Mount Balaclava and Island Pass to Mount Maling in Block XIII, Rainbow Survey District; then north-westerly along the watershed between the Wairau and Clarence Rivers to the north-western boundary of the Tarndale Run in Block IV, Maling Survey District; then south-westerly along the said boundary and its production to the eastern shore of Lake Tennyson; then generally southerly along the said eastern shore to the middle of the Clarence River; then generally southerly and north-easterly down the middle of the Clarence River to a point in Block XI, Tone Survey District, in line with the western boundary of part Run 121 (being the left bank of the Red Hill Stream); then generally northerly to and along the said western boundary to the summit of the watershed between the Clarence and Awatere Rivers; then generally north-easterly along the said watershed to Trig. Station F in Block VII, Tapuaenuku Survey District; then generally westerly, northerly, easterly, and south-easterly along the western, northern, and north-eastern boundaries of Run 121A to the easternmost corner of that run; then north-easterly along the north-western boundaries of part Section 1, Block VIII, Tapuaenuku Survey District, and part Section 1, Block VI, Whernside Survey District; then generally easterly along the northern boundary of part Section 1, Block VI, aforesaid, and continuing easterly to and along the northern
