Special Order Made by Hutt County Council Altering Riding
Boundaries, Riding Names, and Riding Representations
PURSUANT to section 88 of the Counties Act 1956, I hereby
publish the following special order made by Hutt County
Council.
Dated at Wellington this 28th day of August 1968.

SPECIAL ORDER
IN exercise of the powers conferred on it by the Counties Act
1956, the Hutt County Council resolves, by way of special
order, as follows:
- That, pursuant to section 23 of the Counties Act 1956,
the present division of the County of Hutt into 11 ridings
is revoked and in lieu thereof the said county shall be divided
into 10 ridings, to be called respectively
Epuni Riding
Heretaunga Riding
Horokiri Riding
Makara Riding
Paekakariki Riding
Paraparaumu Riding (formerly old Kapiti, Raumati, and
Whareroa Ridings)
Pukerua Bay Riding (formerly part of old Horokiri and
part of Taupo Ridings)
Rimutaka Riding
Taupo Riding
Wainuiomata Riding
which said ridings are respectively described in the Schedule
hereto.
- That, pursuant to section 36 of the Counties Act 1956, in
lieu of 12 members, the said Hutt County Council shall consist
of 14 members who shall be elected as follows:
(a) The electors of Epuni Riding, Heretaunga Riding, Horo-
kiri Riding, Makara Riding, Paekakariki Riding,
Pukerua Bay Riding, Rimutaka Riding, and Taupo
Riding shall each elect one councillor.
(b) The electors of Paraparaumu Riding and Wainuiomata
Riding shall each elect three Councillors.
- The alteration hereby made in the number of members
of the said Council and the boundaries of the said ridings
shall take effect at the general election of councillors to be
held in the year 1968, except in so far and to such extent as
may be necessary for preparing any roll or otherwise providing
for that election.
SCHEDULE
PUKERUA BAY RIDING
ALL that area in the Wellington Land District being portion
of the County of Hutt, bounded by a line commencing at a
point on the mean high-water mark of the sea due north-west
of the northernmost corner of Pukerua 3c 1A in Block III,
Paekakariki S.D., and proceeding generally easterly along a
right line to that corner and along the eastern boundary of
Pukerua 3c 1A, the north-eastern boundary of the land shown
on D.P. 7665, and the southern boundary of part Pukerua 2,
subdivision 2 (C.T. 370/176), to its south-eastern corner;
then generally southerly along the generally eastern bound-
aries of Pukerua 2, subdivisions 2, 3, 4, 5, and 6, and Hauko-
pua East Block to the south-eastern corner of Haukopua East
Block; thence westerly along the southern boundaries of
Haukopua East Block, crossing No. 1 State Highway, to the
western side of the North Island Main Trunk Railway, and
along that side to and along the northern side of Pukerua
Road and the southern boundary of Haukopua West Block
to the mean high-water mark of the sea; thence north-easterly
along that high-water mark to the point of commencement.
TAUPO RIDING
ALL that area in the Wellington Land District being portion
of the County of Hutt, bounded by a line commencing at the
south-western corner of Haukopua West Block in Block V,
Paekakariki S.D., and proceeding easterly along the southern
boundaries of Pukerua Bay Riding, hereinbefore described,
to the eastern side of No. 1 State Highway; thence southerly
along that side to a point in line with the south-western
boundary of Section 84, Porirua District; thence south-easterly
along a right line to and along that boundary to the mean
high-water mark of Porirua Harbour; thence south-westerly
and generally northerly along the mean high-water mark of
Porirua Harbour and of the sea to the point of commencement.
Also all that area in the Wellington Land District being
portion of the County of Hutt, bounded by a line commencing
at a point on the mean high-water mark of the southern shore
of Porirua Harbour in line with the western boundary of Lot
4, D.P. 3138, in Block VIII, Paekakariki S.D., and proceeding
southerly to and along that boundary to the south-western
corner of the said Lot 4; thence westerly along the northern
boundary of Lot 6, D.P. 3138, and a right line to and along
the southern boundary of Lot 2, D.P. 9341, and the north-
eastern boundary of Section 99, Porirua District, and its pro-
duction to the mean high-water mark of the south-eastern
shore of Porirua Harbour, such high-water mark being that
existing before any reclamation in connection with road and
railway construction work; thence generally easterly along that
high-water mark of Porirua Harbour to the point of com-
mencement.
HOROKIRI RIDING
ALL that area in the Wellington Land District being portion
of the County of Hutt, bounded by a line commencing at a
point on the mean high-water mark of the sea due north-west
of the northernmost corner of Pukerua 3c 1A in Block III,
Paekakariki S.D., and proceeding northerly along that high-
water mark to a point in line with northernmost boundary
of Lot 1, D.P. 4268; thence generally easterly along a right
line to and along the northern boundaries of Lot 1, D.P.
4268 to the north-western side of Paekakariki Hill Road;
thence south-westerly along that side to a point in line with
the northern boundary of Lot 1, D.P. 11960; thence easterly
to and along that boundary to the eastern boundary of
Section 50, Wainui District; thence generally southerly along
that boundary, the eastern boundary of Section 48, Horokiri
Valley District, the southern boundary of Lot 1, D.P. 4268,
and the western boundaries of Section 1, Titi District, to the
south-western corner of the said Section 1; thence easterly
and northerly along the southern and eastern boundaries of
the said Section 1 to the northernmost point of Section 1,
Block IX, Akatarawa S.D.; thence generally southerly along
the generally north-eastern boundary of that section to a point
in line with the northern boundary of Lot 1, D.P. 4705, to
and along that boundary, the eastern and southern boundaries
of that lot, the eastern and southern boundaries of Section 5,
Block XIII, Akatarawa S.D., to the southern point of the
said Section 5, and a right line to and along the western
boundary of Section 31, Block XIII, Akatarawa S.D., to a
point in line with the southern boundary of Section 6, Block
XIII, Akatarawa S.D.; thence generally south-westerly to and
along the southern boundaries of Sections 6, 36, and 35, Block
XIII, Akatarawa S.D., the eastern and south-western bound-
aries of Section 31, Block X, Paekakariki S.D., the north-
western boundary of Section 2, Block X, Paekakariki S.D.,
and its production to and along the south-eastern boundary of
Section 17, Block X, Paekakariki S.D., the north-eastern and
southern boundaries of that section, the western boundary
