Appointment of Wharves in New Zealand

Pursuant to section 28 of the Customs Act 1966, the Controller of Customs hereby appoints the places described in the Schedule hereto to be wharves for the lading and unloading of goods, and hereby revokes all existing appointments of wharves made pursuant to section 19 of the Customs Act 1913.

SCHEDULE

PLACES appointed as wharves:

AUCKLAND

Wynard Wharf, a structure east of Brigham Street extending seaward, of length 1,600 ft and width 120 ft, with landward limit at the shore line and the junction with Brigham Street.

Hobson Wharf, a rectangular wharf extending seaward, of length 500 ft and width 100 ft, with landward limit at the shore line where the wharf abuts the Eastern Viaduct.

Princess Wharf, a rectangular wharf extending seaward, of length 1,200 ft and width 280 ft, with landward limits at the securing fence on the boundary with Quay Street.

Queens Wharf and Captain Cook Wharf: two wharves connected to and extending seawards from, the Quay Street landing; Queens Wharf of length 1,150 ft and width 280 ft, Captain Cook Wharf of length 800 ft and width 240 ft, the wharves having their landward limits on the west at the Ferry Building, on the south at the securing fence on the boundary with Quay Street, and on the east at the fence east of Captain Cook Wharf.

Marsden Wharf, a rectangular wharf extending seaward from, and including, a rectangular landing area 370 ft by 110 ft, with landward limits on the west at the fence east of Captain Cook Wharf, on the south by the fence on the boundary with Quay Street, and on the east by a fence on the boundary of the Kings Wharf approach.

Kings Wharf, a wharf extending seaward from the landward limit at the securing fence at the northern end of the Kings Wharf approach, 350 ft by average width 200 ft; then angled to the north-east, 820 ft by 250 ft wide.

Landing South-west Bledisloe, an angled quay extending 130 ft south-west of the fence at the south-west corner of Bledisloe Wharf, 20 ft in width; then extending west for a length of 100 ft, 40 ft in width.

Bledisloe Wharf, a rectangular wharf extending seaward north of Tinley Street, of length 700 ft and width 200 ft, with landward limits at the securing fence to the south and south-west.

Jellicoe Wharf, a rectangular wharf extending north-west of French Street, of length 1,100 ft and width 310 ft, and including an irregular-shaped area of the foreshore within the securing fence; with landward limits at the securing fence to the south-west, south, and south-east.

Freyberg Wharf, a triangular-shaped structure seaward, north-east of Monash Street, and including an irregular-shaped area of the foreshore within the securing fence, with landward limits at the securing fence to the west, south, and east.

Eastern Oil Tanker Berth, a piled structure contained in an area measuring 240 ft by 90 ft, situated north of the south-east corner of the northern part of the eastern tide deflector, and abutting the deflector.

Onehunga Wharf, those portions of the foreshore and harbour works within the Manukau Harbour within the area marked in red on the plan marked M.D. 12443, deposited in the office of the Marine Department, Wellington.

Chelsea Wharf, a 734-ft long off-shore structure of irregular shape, under control of the New Zealand Sugar Co. Ltd.

CHRISTCHURCH

Those portions of the foreshore and harbour works within the Port of Lyttelton which are to the seaward side of the red line, as delineated on plan marked M.D. 12441, deposited by the Lyttelton Harbour Board in the office of the Marine Department at Wellington.

DUNEDIN

Kitchener Street Wharf, a wharf of length 650 ft, bounded on the landward side by Kitchener Street.

Birch Street Wharf, a wharf of length 1,130 ft, and bounded on the landward side by Birch Street.

Cross Wharf, a wharf of length 600 ft, bounded on the landward side by Wharf Street.

Rattray Wharf, a wharf of length 1,420 ft, and bounded on the landward side by Fryatt Street.

Victoria Wharf, a wharf of length 1,970 ft, bounded on the landward side by Fryatt Street.

Ravensbourne Wharf, a wharf of length 384 ft, bounded on the landward side by the Ravensbourne Endowment.

George Street Pier, a wharf of length 1,090 ft, extending seawards from the shore line of the wharf access, Railway land, and Harbour Board reserve at Port Chalmers.

GISBORNE

Wharves No. 1 to 7, bounded on the landward side by the Turanganui River at No. 1 Wharf, the Esplanade, and Kaiti Beach Road to the Cook Memorial Reserve, the boundary with the Cook Memorial Reserve, and landward edge of Kaiti Beach at No. 7 Wharf.

GREYMOUTH

The Breastwork Wharf, abutting the Grey River extending from the eastward side of the entrance to the Tidal Dock, to a point opposite the end of Tainui Street and being of average width 25 ft.

INVERCARGILL

At the New or Island Harbour—

Wharf No. 1, on south side of smaller basin, being of length 525 ft and having a breadth of 130 ft from the wharf face.

Wharf No. 2, on north side of smaller basin, being of length 525 ft and having a breadth of 150 ft from the wharf face.

Wharf No. 3, on south side of larger basin of length 700 ft and having a breadth of 160 ft from the wharf face.

Wharf No. 3A, extending from the eastern end of No. 3 wharf to junction of the eastern end of No. 2 wharf, being of length 335 ft and having a breadth of 70 ft from the wharf face.

Wharf No. 4, on south side of larger basin and extending west from No. 3 wharf, being of length 700 ft and having a breadth of 160 ft from the wharf face.

Wharf No. 5, on north side of larger basin, being of length 700 ft and having a breadth of 180 ft from the wharf face.

Wharf No. 6, being the cross wall between wharves 4 and 5, having a length of 450 ft and a breadth of 180 ft from the wharf face.

At the Old or Eastern Harbour—

The Main Wharf, comprising berths 11, 12, and 14, on the north face, of total length of 1,800 ft and breadth of 40 ft. Berth 15, on the south side of the wharf, extending in length 450 ft from the western end and having a breadth of 42 ft 6 in. Berth 16, on the south side of the wharf, extending 450 ft from the eastern end and having a breadth of 26 ft. The Ferry Wharf, extending west from the shore line for 1,055 ft and having a breadth of 52 ft.

NAPIER

All those structures, erections, and parcels of land situated at Napier, being those portions of the Napier Harbour Board's property, shown coloured in red with limits delineated in blue, on the plan numbered 2446, deposited with the Controller of Customs at Wellington.

NELSON

All those structures, erections, and parcels of land situated at Port Nelson, being those portions of the Nelson Harbour Board's property, shown coloured in burnt sienna, with the limits delineated in red, on the plan marked M.D. 12749, deposited in the office of the Marine Department, Wellington.

NEW PLYMOUTH

Moturoa Wharf, at Port Taranaki, being a concrete wharf extending seaward and having its landward limit at the line of the mean high-water mark.

Newton King Wharf, at Port Taranaki, being a timber wharf extending seaward and having its landward limit at the line of the mean high-water mark.

TAURANGA

All those structures, erections, and parcels of land situated at Mount Maunganui and Tauranga, being those portions of the Tauranga Harbour Board's property, shown coloured in green, with limits delineated in red, on the plan numbered C. 9210, deposited in the office of the Marine Department, Wellington.

TIMARU

All those structures, erections, and parcels of land situated at Timaru Harbour, being those portions of the Timaru Harbour Board's property, shown coloured in red, with limits delineated in red on the plan marked M.D. 11709 (drawing No. 1135D), deposited in the office of the Marine Department at Wellington.

WAIRAU

Waitohi Wharf, Picton, a concrete wharf of length 792 ft, bounded on the landward side at the line of the high-water mark.

WAITANGI (CHATHAM ISLANDS)

The wharf at Waitangi.

WANGANUI

No. 1, 2, and 3 Wharves, abutting the Wanganui River, at Castlecliff, extending 2,000 ft from the tide gauge at the western end of No. 1 Wharf, and being 60 ft in breadth.

WELLINGTON

Those portions of the foreshore and harbour works within the Port of Wellington which are to the seaward side of the red line as delineated on the plan marked 5309 (T. 3132), deposited with the Comptroller of Customs at Wellington.
