Special Order Made by Waitotara County Council Altering Riding Boundaries and Riding Representation

PURSUANT to section 88 of the Counties Act 1956, I hereby publish the following special order made by Waitotara County Council.

SPECIAL ORDER

In exercise of the powers conferred by sections 23 and 35 of the Counties Act 1956, the Waitotara County Council resolves by way of Special Order to alter the riding boundaries and riding representation as follows:

Firstly—The present division of the County into four ridings is revoked and the County shall be divided into four ridings to be named respectively:

(a) Otamatea
(b) Brunswick-Westmere
(c) Waitotara
(d) Raorikia.

Secondly—That the said County of Waitotara shall consist of nine (9) members who shall be elected as follows:

(a) The electors of the Otamatea Riding, being all of the land within the Otamatea County Town, shall elect one (1) councillor.

(b) The electors of the Brunswick-Westmere Riding shall elect four (4) councillors.

(c) The electors of the Waitotara Riding (boundary unchanged) shall elect three (3) councillors.

(d) The electors of the Raorikia Riding (boundary unchanged) shall elect one (1) councillor.

Thirdly—That the alteration hereby made shall take effect on the 1st day of September 1968. This Schedule, a plan of the proposed riding boundaries, and a copy of the special order will be available for inspection at the Council Chambers, 331 Victoria Avenue, Wanganui, during normal office hours until the 15th day of May 1968.

The Mosston Riding is to be abolished and the area comprising the Mosston Riding will be added to the Brunswick-Westmere Riding. A new riding is constituted, this being the Otamatea Riding, the land in this area being formerly portion of the Brunswick-Westmere Riding. Waitotara Riding and Raorikia Riding boundaries will remain unchanged. The boundaries of the above ridings shall be as described in Appendix A.

The above resolution was passed at a special meeting of the Council held on Thursday, 21 March 1968, and was submitted for confirmation at the ordinary meeting of the Council held at 10 a.m. on 16 May 1968.

APPENDIX A
OTAMATEA RIDING

ALL that area in the Wellington Land District being portion of the County of Waitotara bounded by a line commencing at the southernmost corner of Lot 2, D.P. 27442, and proceeding westerly along the northern side of Babbage Place to the road angle distant 75.4 links west of the north-western boundary of Lot 1, D.P. 8151; thence generally southerly along a right line to the road angle distant 84.5 links north of the southern boundary of Lot 1, D.P. 14305, and along the eastern boundaries of Lots 1 and 2, D.P. 14305, to the southernmost corner of the said Lot 2; thence generally north-westerly along the northern side of Montgomery Road, the southern boundary of Lot 30, D.P. 25009, the south-eastern boundary of Lot 2, D.P. 2540, to a line 900 links distant from and parallel to the south-western side of No. 3 State Highway, along that line to the south-eastern boundary of Lot 1, D.P. 25019, along the south-eastern and south-western boundaries of that lot, the south-western boundary of Lot 7, D.P. 1251, the south-eastern boundary of Lot 5, D.P. 1251, for a distance of 660 links, along a right line bearing 315° 45′ to the north-western boundary of Lot 5, D.P. 1251, along that boundary to and along the south-western boundaries of Lots 4 and 3, D.P. 16151, and their production to the north-western boundary of Lot 5, D.P. 16151, along that boundary to a point in line with the south-western boundary of Lot 2, D.P. 15290, along a right line to and along that boundary, along a right line bearing 0° 21′ distance 34.2 links to and along the southern boundary of Lot 1, D.P. 15290, along a right line to the easternmost corner of Lot 7, D.P. 25264, along the south-eastern boundaries of that lot and Lot 1, D.P. 1251, to a point in line with the south-western boundary of Lot 4, D.P. 25264, along a right line to and along that boundary and its production across Tirimohana Place to and along the south-western boundary of Lot 3, D.P. 25264, the north-western boundaries of Lots 3, 2, and 1, D.P. 25264, the south-western boundary of Lot 1, D.P. 15286, along a right line to a point on the south-eastern boundary of Lot 6, D.P. 5824, 300 links distant from the south-western side of No. 3 State Highway, along the south-eastern and south-western boundaries of part Lot 6, D.P. 5824, comprised in C.T. 527-137, along the south-eastern and south-western boundaries of Lot 3, D.P. 17556, the south-western and north-western boundaries of Lot 1, D.P. 17556, to a line 500 links distant from and parallel to the south-western side of No. 3 State Highway, along that line to the north-western boundary of Lot 3, D.P. 5824, and along that boundary to the south-western side of No. 3 State Highway; thence generally south-easterly along that side to a point in line with the south-eastern side of Pickwick Road, to and along that side, the southern boundaries of Lot 5, D.P. 1442, the western and southern boundaries of Lot 1, D.P. 15625, to a point distant 600 links east of the western boundary of Lot 5, D.P. 27595, along a right line bearing 192° 41′ 20″ to the northern boundary of Lot 1, D.P. 23195, along that boundary and along a right line 550 links distant from and parallel to the northern side of Virginia Road to the western boundary of Lot 1, D.P. 26502, and along that boundary and the generally north-eastern boundaries of Lot 1, D.P. 26502, and Lots 1 and 2, D.P. 24662, to the northern side of Virginia Road; thence westerly along that side to a point in line with the eastern boundary of Lot 13, D.P. 258; thence generally southerly to and along that boundary, the south-western boundaries of Lot 16, D.P. 258, and Lot 17, D.P. 543, and the south-eastern boundaries of Lots 1 and 2, D.P. 27442, to the point of commencement.

BRUNSWICK-WESTMERE RIDING

ALL that area in the Wellington Land District being portion of the County of Waitotara bounded by a line commencing at a point in the middle of the mouth of the Kai-iwi Stream in Block XIV, Nukumaru S.D., and proceeding generally north-easterly up the middle of that stream to the southern boundary of Kai-iwi 6r 6A; thence westerly along that boundary to the south-eastern side of the Marton-New Plymouth Railway; thence generally north-easterly along that side to and up the middle of the Kai-iwi Stream to its confluence with the Karemu Stream; thence generally northerly up the middle of that stream to a point in line with the northern boundary of Rangitatau 1B, to and along that boundary and its production to the middle of the Mangaone Stream, up the middle of that stream to a point in line with the generally eastern boundary of Section 1, Block VIII, Nukumaru S.D., to and along that boundary and the eastern boundaries of Section 2, Block VIII, Nukumaru S.D., and the said Section 1, to the generally south-eastern boundary of Lot 2, D.P. 4790; thence generally north-easterly along that boundary, the southern boundaries of Lots 3 and 6, D.P. 4790, and the production of the last-mentioned boundary to the middle of the Kai-iwi Stream in Block IV, Nukumaru S.D.; thence generally north-westerly up the middle of that stream to a point in line with the generally western boundary of Lot 1, D.P. 4471, to and generally northerly along that boundary and the western boundary of Kauarapaoa Block, crossing a road to the northernmost corner of that block; thence generally easterly along the north-eastern boundary of the said block and its production to the middle of the Otohia Stream, down the middle of that stream and the Kauarapaoa Stream to a point in line with the northern boundary of Kauarapaoa Block, to and along that boundary and its production to the middle of the Otaumangopari Stream; thence generally south-easterly down the middle of that stream and the Whakangaromanga
