Boundaries of Borough of Temuka Defined
PURSUANT to section 26 of the Municipal Corporations Act
1954, the Secretary for Internal Affairs hereby defines, as set
out in the Schedule hereto, the boundaries of the Borough of
Temuka, the previous boundaries having been altered by
Order in Council made on the 18th day of May 1966 and
published in the Gazette, 19 May 1966, No. 28, page 792.
SCHEDULE
BOUNDARIES OF THE BOROUGH OF TEMUKA
ALL that area in the Canterbury Land District, containing
977 acres, more or less, bounded by a line commencing at the
intersection of the left bank of the Temuka River, and the
northern side of Cass Street, and proceeding easterly along
that side of Cass Street to the middle of Wallingford Street;
thence northerly generally along the middle of that street,
Lachlan Street, and Grants Road to the middle of Donald
Street; thence easterly along the middle of that street and its
production to the eastern side of No. 1 National State High-
way; thence southerly along that eastern side to the northern
boundary of Lot 1, D.P. 19618; thence easterly along that boun-
dary, the abutment of Neal Street, and Lot 25, D.P. 741, to the
western boundary of Lot 42, D.P. 741; thence generally south-
erly along that boundary across Evans Street and along the
western and southern boundaries of Lot 37, D.P. 741, to the
middle of Levens Lane; thence southerly along the middle of
that lane to the middle of St. Leonards Street; thence easterly
along the middle of that street to the western boundary of the
South Island Main Trunk Railway; thence southerly along

1970 (Temuka District High School); thence northerly along
that boundary to the south-western boundary of Lot 1, D.P.
4894; thence south-easterly along that boundary and its
production to the middle of Guild Road; thence southerly
along the middle of that road to the middle of
North Town Belt; thence easterly along the middle of
that town belt to a point in line with the eastern side
of Murray Street; thence southerly to and along that side
of Murray Street to the Taumatakahu Stream; thence
easterly along a line at right angles to Murray Street
to the right bank of the said Taumatakahu Stream; thence
easterly generally along that bank to the western boun-
dary of Reserve 1067; thence southerly along that boundary
and its production to the southern side of Milford Clandeboye
Road; thence easterly generally along the southern side of that
road to the right bank of Taumatakahu Stream; thence south-
westerly generally along that bank to the general northern
boundary of Reserve 4908; thence westerly generally along
that boundary to the eastern boundary of the South Island
Main Trunk Railway; thence northerly along that boundary
to a point in line with the northern boundary of part Rural
section 2482, comprised in certificate of title, Volume 172,
folio 207; thence westerly to and along that boundary and its
production to the western side of King Street (No. 1 National
State Highway); thence northerly along that side of the high-
way to the northern boundary of Lot 5, D.P. 1682; thence
westerly along that boundary and northerly along the eastern
boundary of part Reserve 3546, to the western side of Fraser
Street; thence northerly along that side of Fraser Street and
westerly along the southern side of High Street to a point in

Tariff and Development Board Notice No. 50-Public Inquiry into
Question of Adding Beer to Schedule A of New Zealand-Australia
Free Trade Agreement
- At the request of the Minister of Overseas Trade, the Tariff and
Development Board proposes to inquire into and report on the
question of whether beer, made from malt, containing more than
2 percent of proof spirit, should be added to Schedule A of the New
Zealand-Australia Free Trade Agreement. - The rates of import duty at present payable on such goods are
as follows:

*Per gallon or for six reputed quart bottles or the reputed equivalent in bottles of a larger or smaller capacity.
- Beer made in New Zealand is subject to excise duty as follows:
(a) where the specific gravity of the worts used in the production of beer does not exceed 1036 .. 6s. per gallon of beer.
(b) where the specific gravity of the worts exceeds 1036 .. 6s. per gallon of beer plus 2d. per gallon for every unit of specific gravity above 1036.

Article 6 of the Agreement provides in effect that a Member State may levy revenue duties or taxes on scheduled goods imported from the territory of the other Member State provided that such duties or taxes do not exceed those imposed on such goods if produced in the first Member State.

In considering this matter the Board will have regard to all relevant provisions of the New Zealand-Australia Free Trade Agreement. It will take full account of the advantages and disadvantages to New Zealand industry concerned and to New Zealand as a whole of including the items in Schedule A.

For the purpose of taking evidence on this subject the Board will hold a public inquiry commencing on Wednesday, 31 May 1967, at 10.30 a.m., in the Board Room, First Floor, New Zealand Law Society Building, 26 Waring Taylor Street, Wellington.

Any person who intends to tender evidence will, on notifying the undersigned to that effect, be supplied with a form indicating the nature of the information which should be submitted in support of representations.

Twelve copies of a typewritten statement of the evidence to be tendered, compiled in accordance with the form and supported by any additional information, should be lodged with the undersigned not later than Wednesday, 24 May 1967. Each statement will need to be presented under oath at the public inquiry by the person tendering it.
