No. 73
- Nothing herein contained shall authorise the board to remove or cause to be removed any stones, sand, shingle, or shells without the consent of the Minister being first obtained.
- Subject to the provisions of section 8A of the Act, the board for and within the area of the waters described in the First Schedule hereto—
(a) May, by bylaw, do anything which a harbour board may do by bylaw under section 232 of the Act;
(b) May appoint harbourmasters and or officers and define or limit their powers or duties;
(c) Shall have all the powers, functions, duties, and authorities of a harbour board under the Act as if it were constituted a harbour board;
(d) May expend money out of its general fund or account for the purpose of exercising and performing the control, powers, functions, duties, and authorities conferred by this Order in Council. - Bylaws made by the board under the authority of this Order in Council shall not come into force until they have been approved by the Minister, by notice in the Gazette.
- No authority conferred by this Order in Council shall be exercised by the council in respect of waters or lake bed now or hereafter used for hydro-electric installations, except with the approval of the New Zealand Electricity Department.
- The rights, powers, privileges, control, functions, duties, and authorities conferred by or under this Order in Council shall continue to be in force for 21 years from the day following the date of its notification in the Gazette, unless in the meantime such rights, powers, privileges, control, functions, duties, and authorities shall be altered, modified, or revoked by competent authority.
- The said rights, powers, privileges, control, functions, duties, and authorities may be at any time resumed by the Governor-General, without payment of any compensation whatever, on giving to the board six calendar months’ notice in writing. Any such notice shall be sufficient if given by the Minister and delivered at or posted to the last known address of the council in New Zealand.

Extending Time for Holding Inquiry on Petition Under the Local Elections and Polls Act 1953

Present:
HIS EXCELLENCY THE GOVERNOR-GENERAL IN COUNCIL
WHEREAS a petition under section 66 of the Local Elections and Polls Act 1953 was filed in the Magistrate’s Court at Kaitaia requesting an inquiry into the conduct of an election in the Ahipara Riding of the Mangonui County;
And whereas the inquiry was commenced within the period of 14 days after the filing of the petition specified in section 69 of the Local Elections and Polls Act 1953, before Mr John Reginald Herd, s.m.;
And whereas the said Mr Herd died on the 24th day of November 1965 and it is expedient that the inquiry be recommenced before another stipendiary magistrate;
Now therefore
Pursuant to section 100 of the Local Elections and Polls Act 1953, His Excellency the Governor-General, acting by and with the advice and consent of the Executive Council, hereby authorises and directs that the inquiry shall be commenced within 14 days after the date of the notification of this Order in Council in the Gazette.

Abolition of the Kaitaia Rural Fire District

PURSUANT to the Forest and Rural Fires Act 1955, His Excellency the Governor-General, acting by and with the advice and consent of the Executive Council, hereby abolishes the Kaitaia Rural Fire District and revokes the order constituting that district made on the 9th day of March 1949, and published in the Gazette in 1949, Volume I, page 723.

Revoking a Licence Authorising the Tuhoe Maori Trust Board to Use Water for the Purpose of Generating Electricity

HIS EXCELLENCY THE GOVERNOR-GENERAL IN COUNCIL
PURSUANT to the Public Works Act 1928, His Excellency the Governor-General, acting by and with the advice and consent of the Executive Council and with the consent of the licensee, hereby revokes the Order in Council, dated the 11th day of November 1953 and published in the Gazette on the 12th day of the same month, at page 1798, authorising Poronui Stations Ltd., to use water for the purpose of generating electricity, the rights, powers, and privileges under the Order in Council having been assigned to the Tuhoe Maori Trust Board by an Order in Council dated the 20th day of July 1960 and published in the Gazette on the 28th day of the same month, at page 1009.

Alteration and Redefinition of Boundaries of Te Kuiti Rabbit District (Notice No. Ag. 8297)

PURSUANT to the Rabbits Act 1955, His Excellency the Governor-General, acting by and with the advice and consent of the Executive Council, hereby makes the following order.
ORDER
- (1) This order may be cited as the Te Kuiti Rabbit District Order 1965.
(2) This order shall come into force on the day after the date of its notification in the Gazette. - The boundaries of the Te Kuiti Rabbit District, which was constituted by Order in Council on the 28th day of January 1942,* are hereby altered and redefined, and, as from the commencement of this order, the boundaries of the said district shall be those specified in the Schedule hereto.
SCHEDULE
BOUNDARIES OF THE TE KUITI RABBIT DISTRICT
ALL that area in the South Auckland and Taranaki Land Districts, Waitomo County and Te Kuiti Borough, containing 459,800 acres, more or less, bounded by a line commencing at Urawitiki Point on the southern entrance to the Kawhia Harbour in Block IX, Kawhia North Survey District, and proceeding generally south-easterly along the southern shores of the Kawhia Harbour and the southern boundary of the Otorohanga County as described in Gazette, 1956, page 422, to and down the middle of the Mangititi Stream, to and up the middle of the Moakurarua Stream, to and again along the aforesaid county boundary to its intersection with the middle of Tapuae Road; thence generally southerly along the middle of that road, the middle of Lemon Point-Caves Main Highway, the middle of Hangitiki-Caves Main Highway, and the middle of Fullertons Road to a point in line with the northern boundary of Section 9, Block XIV, Orahiri Survey District; thence easterly along a right line to and along that northern boundary and the northern boundaries of Sections 10 and 11 of the aforesaid survey district, crossing and recrossing the intervening Fullertons Road, to and along the northern and eastern boundaries of Section 14, Block XV, Orahiri Survey District; thence generally southerly along a right line bearing 92° 09′ distant 1673·3 links to and along another right line bearing 100° 43′ distant 50 links to and up the middle of the Mangapu Stream to a point in line with the south-western boundary of Kinohaku East 1F 29B 1; thence north-westerly along a right line to and along the aforesaid south-western boundary, the south-western boundary of Section 26, Block XV, Orahiri Survey District, and again along the south-western boundary of 1F 29B 1, aforesaid, to and along the eastern boundary of part Kinohaku East 1F 29D, and that boundary produced to and southerly along the middle of Fullertons Road, the middle of the Te Kumi-Te Anga Main Highway, the middle of the Hamilton-Te Kuiti State Highway, and along the middle of Somerville Road, to and up the middle of the Mangaokewa Stream, to and along the western boundary of Rangitoto Tuhua 68A 2B in Block VIII, Otanake Survey District; thence generally southerly along that western boundary and its production to and along the middle of the North Island Main Trunk Railway to its intersection with the middle line of the Mokau River in Block II, Mapara Survey District;
