Rotorua State Forest Conservancy-Sale of Annual Wood Supply
PROPOSALS are invited for the purchase and utilisation of twenty (20) million cu. ft. annually of wood from Kaingaroa Forest and other State forests in Rotorua Conservancy.
The material under offer will consist of both sawlogs and pulpwood in the approximate proportion of 40 per cent and 60 per cent. Most of the sawlogs will be radiata pine, which species will comprise 70 per cent of the total quantity. Approximately 60 per cent of the wood will come from clear fellings (to be carried out by the successful tenderer), and the remainder from thinnings (which the Forest Service will itself undertake). No consideration will be given to any proposal which fails to make provision for the full utilisation of all thinnings and of pulpwood; nor will any offer for part of the material be accepted.
The stumpages to be paid for sawlogs and pulpwood from both clear fellings and thinnings will be subject to negotiation. The purchaser will also be expected to negotiate with the Forest Service to pay for the out-of-pocket expenses incurred in departmental thinning operations.
The term of the sale will be for fifteen (15) years with rights of renewal subject to negotiation.
Full details of the species composition and the nature of the material available, and of all general terms and conditions of the sale, are available on application to the Conservator of Forests, Rotorua, or the Director-General of Forests, Wellington.
Proposals must reach the office of the Director-General of Forests, Wellington, by noon on 5 November 1965.
Dated at Wellington this 25th day of September 1965.
A. L. POOLE, Director-General of Forests.
