Alteration and Redefinition of Boundaries of Saddle Hill Rabbit District (Notice No. Ag. 8249)

HIS EXCELLENCY THE GOVERNOR-GENERAL IN COUNCIL
PURSUANT to the Rabbits Act 1955, His Excellency the Governor-General, acting by and with the advice and consent of the Executive Council, hereby makes the following order.

ORDER

  1. (1) This order may be cited as the Saddle Hill Rabbit District Order 1965.
    (2) This order shall come into force on the day after the date of its notification in the Gazette.

  2. The boundaries of the Saddle Hill Rabbit District, which was constituted by Order in Council on the 27th day of March 1961,* are hereby altered and redefined and, as from the commencement of this order, the boundaries of the said district shall be those specified in the Schedule hereto.

SCHEDULE

BOUNDARIES OF THE SADDLE HILL RABBIT DISTRICT

ALL that area in the Otago Land District, Counties of Bruce, Taieri, Tuapeka, Peninsula, Boroughs of Mosgiel, Green Island, St. Kilda, and City of Dunedin, containing 177,640 acres, more or less, bounded by a line commencing at a point on the north-eastern boundary of Clarendon Survey District at the mouth of the Taieri River and proceeding generally north-westerly along the generally north-eastern boundary of Clarendon Survey District and westerly along the southern boundary of Maungatua Survey District to the north-western boundary of Block XXI, Waihola Survey District; thence generally south-westerly along that boundary to the south-eastern shore of Lake Waihola; thence generally south-westerly along that shore to the southernmost corner of Block X, Waihola Survey District; thence north-westerly along the south-western boundary of Block X aforesaid to the north-western side of Clarendon Berwick Road; thence south-westerly along that side of that road to the north-eastern side of Clarendon-Circle Hill Road; thence generally north-westerly along that side of that road to the western boundary of Block VIII, Clarendon Survey District; thence northerly along that boundary of Block VIII and the western boundaries of Sections 57, 56, and 47, Block IX, Clarendon Survey District, to the southern boundary of Section 14, Block IX, aforesaid; thence westerly along that boundary and its production to and along the southern boundary of Section 6, Block IX, aforesaid to the eastern boundary of the Table Hill Survey District; thence northerly and westerly along the eastern and northern boundaries of that Survey District to the western boundary of Block X, Waipori Survey District; thence northerly and easterly along the western and northern boundaries of that Block to the middle of the Waipori River; thence generally south-easterly down the middle of that river to a point in line with the south-eastern boundary of Run 51A, Waipori Survey District; thence north-easterly along a right line to Trig. Station “Maungatua”, in Block XIV, Maungatua Survey District; thence due east along a right line to the western boundary of Section 12, Block XIV, aforesaid; thence generally north-easterly along the north-western boundaries of that Section 12 and Section 24, Block XI, Maungatua Survey District, to the northernmost corner of that Section 24; thence north-easterly along a right line to Trig. Station “O”, in Section 22, Block XI, aforesaid; thence due north along a right line to the southern side of McHendry Road; thence generally easterly along the southern side of that road and its production to the north-western corner of Section 14, Block IX, Maungatua Survey District; thence north-westerly along a right line to the south-western corner of Section 12, Block IX, aforesaid; thence generally north-westerly along the north-eastern side of No. 87 State Highway (Mosgiel-Kyeburn) to the south-eastern boundary of Section 10, Block IX, aforesaid; thence generally north-easterly along that south-eastern boundary and its production to the middle of Traquair Burn; thence generally easterly and southerly down the middle of that burn and its production to the middle of the Taieri River; thence generally north-easterly up the middle of that river to a point in line with the north-eastern boundary of Crown land north of Mullochy Creek, Block I, Silver Peak Survey District; thence north-easterly to and along the north-western boundary of that Crown land and its production to the south-western corner of Section 1, Block I, aforesaid; thence generally south-easterly and south-westerly along the north-eastern and south-eastern boundaries of the Otago Central Railway to the north-western corner of the land shown on D.P. 3342, Block II, Dunedin and East Taieri Survey District; thence generally easterly along the northern boundary of the land shown on D.P. 3342, Sections 1 of 28, 1136R and 38, Block II, aforesaid and the production of the northern boundary of the last-mentioned section to the westernmost corner of Section 6, Block III, Dunedin and East Taieri Survey District; thence generally north-easterly along the western boundaries of Sections 6, 7, 8, and 9, Block III, aforesaid to the northern boundary of that survey district; thence easterly along the northern boundary of that survey district to Trig. “S”, Swampy Hill; thence southerly along the eastern boundary of Section 3, Block V, Dunedin and East Taieri Survey District, to a road and along a right line across that road to the easternmost corner of Section 11, Block V, aforesaid; thence south-westerly along the eastern boundaries of that Section 11, Sections 10 and 9, Block V, aforesaid to the southernmost corner of that Section 9; thence north-westerly along the south-western boundary of that Section 9 to a point in line with the eastern boundary of Section 55, Block V, aforesaid; thence southerly to and along that boundary and the eastern boundary of Section 54, Block V, aforesaid to its southernmost corner; thence south-easterly along the north-eastern boundaries of Sections 53 and 45, Block V, aforesaid to the westernmost corner of Section 79, Block V, aforesaid; thence north-easterly along the north-western boundary of that Section 79 to the westernmost corner of Section 74, Block V, aforesaid; thence north-easterly and south-easterly along the north-western and north-eastern boundaries of that Section 74 to the southernmost corner of Section 73, Block V, aforesaid; thence due east along a right line to its intersection with the north-western side of Islay Street; thence generally south-westerly along the generally north-western side of that street and its production to the south-western side of Tanner Road; thence south-westerly along that side of that road to the generally western side of Wakari Road; thence generally southerly and westerly along the western and northern sides of Wakari Road to a point in line with the south-western side of Polwarth Road; thence generally south-easterly to and along the generally south-western sides of that road, Cannington Road, Lachlan Avenue, and Regent Road to a point in line with the south-eastern side of Warrender Street; thence north-easterly to and along that side of that street to the north-western side of Queen Street; thence south-westerly along that side of that street to a point in line with the south-western side of Dundas Street; thence south-easterly along that side of that street and its production to the middle of the Water of Leith; thence generally south-easterly down the middle of that stream and its production to a right line from a point bearing 163° 21′ 46″, distant 360 links from Trig. “EE”, Black Jacks Point to a point bearing 133° 48′ 10″, distant 530 links from the easternmost corner of Section 35 (D.P. 2973), Block LXXV, Town of Dunedin; thence south-westerly along that right line to that point bearing 133° 48′ 10″, distant 530 links from Section 35 aforesaid; thence again south-westerly along a right line to its intersection with a line bearing 158°, distant 379 links from the southernmost corner of Section 34 (D.P. 1992), Block LXI, Town of Dunedin; thence south-easterly along a line parallel to and distant 10 links on the seaward side of the middle of the retaining wall at the south-western end of the Otago Harbour to its intersection with a line parallel to and distant 100 links north-westerly from the middle of Portobello Road on the causeway across Andersons Bay; thence north-easterly along that line and its production to the mean high-water mark of the Otago Harbour; thence generally north-easterly along that mean high-water mark to Tairoa Head; thence generally southerly, westerly, and south-westerly along the mean high-water mark of the Pacific Ocean to the point of commencement.

Setting Apart Maori Freehold Land as a Maori Reservation

At the Government House at Wellington this 15th day of September 1965
Present:

HIS EXCELLENCY THE GOVERNOR-GENERAL IN COUNCIL
PURSUANT to section 439 of the Maori Affairs Act 1953, His Excellency the Governor-General, acting by and with the advice and consent of the Executive Council, hereby sets apart the Maori freehold land described in the Schedule hereto as a Maori reservation for the purpose of a meeting place for the common use and benefit of the Māori people generally.
