ordinary meeting held on 19 May 1965, except in so far as
the special order renaming the ridings was adopted at a
meeting held on 19 May 1965 and confirmed 21 June 1965.

SPECIAL ORDER
CHANGE OF RIDING NAMES
RESOLVED (Councillors Linnell and Skelton):
That, in pursuance and exercise of the powers conferred on
it by sections 23 and 87 of the Counties Act 1956, the Otamatea
County Council hereby resolves by way of special order to
change the names of the ridings affected by a previous special
order confirmed on 19 May 1965 altering riding boundaries
and combining ridings as follows:
Ruawai and Tokatoka Ridings: To be named as before
the inclusion of a portion of the Ruawai Riding (in the
south) in the Tokatoka Riding (in the north).
Matakohe and Hukatere: To be renamed the Matakohe
Riding.
Paparoa and Mareretu: To be renamed the Paparoa-
Mareretu Riding.
Whakapirau and Maungatu roto: To be renamed Whaka-
pirau-Maungatu roto Riding.
I, Winfrid John McBurney, County Clerk to the Otamatea
County Council, hereby certify that the above resolution is a
true record of that adopted at a special meeting of the
Council held on 19 May 1965 and confirmed at a subsequent
ordinary meeting held on 21 June 1965.

Special Order Made by Otorohanga County Council Altering
Riding Boundaries

PURSUANT to section 88 of the Counties Act 1956, the Secretary
for Internal Affairs hereby publishes the following special
order made by Otorohanga County Council.

SPECIAL ORDER
IN exercise of the powers conferred on it by sections 23 and
36 of the Counties Act 1956, and amendments thereto, the
Otorohanga County Council resolves by way of special order
as follows:

  1. The present division of the County of Otorohanga into
    six ridings is revoked and in lieu thereof the said county
    shall be divided into eight ridings to be called Te Rauamoa
    Riding, Honikiwi Riding, Korakonui Riding, Ngaroma Riding,
    Kiokio Riding, Paewhenua Riding, Waipa Riding, and Kawhia
    North Riding, which said ridings are respectively described
    in the Schedule hereto.
  2. The said Otorohanga County Council shall consist of eight
    members who shall be elected as follows:
    (a) The electors of the Te Rauamoa Riding, Honikiwi
    Riding, Korakonui Riding, Ngaroma Riding, Kiokio
    Riding, Paewhenua Riding, Waipa Riding, and
    Kawhia North Riding shall each elect one councillor.
  3. The alterations hereby made shall come into full force
    on and after the general election of the Council on the
    9th day of October 1965, except in so far and to such extent
    as may be necessary for preparing any roll or otherwise
    providing for such election.

SCHEDULE
KORAKONUI RIDING
All that area in the South Auckland Land District, Otoro-
hanga County, bounded by a line commencing at the western-
most corner of Lot 3, D.P. 22045, situated in Block XIII,
Puniu Survey District, being a point on the generally south-
eastern side of the Auckland-Wellington Railway, and
proceeding generally north-easterly along that side of the
aforesaid railway, to and generally easterly and generally
south-easterly along the boundary of the Otorohanga County
as described in the New Zealand Gazette 1956, page 422, to
a point in line with the north-western boundary of Lot 1,
D.P. 27307, situated in Block I, Wharepapa Survey District;
thence south-westerly along a right line to and along that
boundary, crossing the intervening Wharepapa Road, to and
along the north-western boundaries of part Section 1, Block I
aforesaid, Lot 2, D.P. S. 6897, along a right line across Adams
Road, to and along the north-western boundaries of Sections
2 and 4, Block I aforesaid, to the westernmost corner of
the last-mentioned section; thence again south-westerly along
a right line to the northernmost corner of Section 28, Block
VIII, Mangaorongo Survey District; thence south-westerly
along the north-western boundaries of Section 28 aforesaid,
Section 26, part Section 25, along a right line across a public
road, to and along the northern boundaries of Sections 30
and 15, all the above-mentioned sections situated in Block
VIII aforesaid, to and generally westerly along the generally
northern boundaries of part Rangitoto A 24B No. 2 Block,
Section 44 and part Section 43, to and north-westerly along

the south-western boundaries of the Pukemapou Settlement,
Rangitoto A 2A 3 Block, along a right line across a public
road, to and along the south-western boundary of part Rangi-
toto A 2A Block, to the westernmost corner of that block,
situated in Block III of the aforesaid survey district; thence
south-westerly along the south-eastern boundary of part
Rangitoto A 1B 1 Block, to its intersection with the eastern
boundary of Block II, Mangaorongo Survey District; thence
due north along the aforesaid eastern boundary, to its inter-
section with the southern boundary of Lot 2, D.P. S. 7424;
thence westerly along a right line to the northernmost corner
of Lot 2, D.P. 11766; thence generally north-easterly along
the generally north-western boundary of part Rangitoto A
(1A and 1B 2) Section 7 Block, to its north-westernmost
corner; thence northerly along a right line to the southernmost
corner of Puketarata Settlement situated in Block XIV,
Puniu Survey District, crossing the intervening public road,
to and generally westerly and northerly along the generally
southern and western boundaries of that settlement to and
along a right line across a public road, to and again northerly
and generally westerly along the western and generally
southern boundaries of Lots 8, 7, and 6, D.P. 15235, to the
south-western corner of the last-mentioned lot; thence westerly
along a right line to the southernmost corner of Lot 3,
D.P. 22045; thence westerly along the southern boundary of
that lot to the point of commencement.

NGAROMA RIDING
All that area in the South Auckland Land District, Otoro-
hanga County, bounded by a line commencing at the inter-
section of the middle line of the Puniu River with the
production north-easterly of the north-western boundary of
Lot 1, D.P. 27307, situated in Block I, Wharepapa Survey
District, being a point on the boundary of the Otorohanga
County as described in New Zealand Gazette 1956, page 422,
and proceeding generally easterly and generally southerly
along that county boundary aforesaid, to and south-westerly
along the north-western boundary of part Maraeroa A 3B
2 Block, situated in Block XV, Ranginui Survey District,
to its intersection with the production south-easterly of the
south-western boundary of Wharepuhunga No. 6 Block,
thence north-westerly to and along that boundary to Trig-
Station 1567 (Pukeokahu), situated in Block VI of the afore-
said survey district, to and north-westerly along the south-
western boundaries of Wharepuhunga No. 17 Block and
Section 6, Block I, of the aforesaid survey district, to the
westernmost corner of that last-mentioned section; thence
westerly along a right line to the south-eastern corner of
part Rangitoto A 24B Block, to and generally northerly
along the generally eastern boundary of that block to its
northernmost corner; thence easterly along the northern
boundary of part Rangitoto A 24A Block and southerly along
its eastern boundary to a point 20 chains distant from the
northernmost corner of that last-mentioned Block, situated
in Block XIII, Wharepapa Survey District; thence north-
easterly along a right line parallel to and 27.5 chains north-
westerly from the south-eastern boundary of part Rangitoto
A 27B Block; to a point due west from the intersection of
the generally eastern side of a public road with the northern
boundary of Section 7, Block XIII aforesaid, thence due east
along a right line, to that intersection, and easterly along that
northern boundary and its production to the middle of the
Mangatutu River; thence generally northerly down the middle
of that river to a point in line with the southern boundary
of Section 44, Block V, of the aforesaid survey district;
thence westerly along a right line to and along that boundary,
to and again westerly along a right line to and along the
northern boundaries of Sections 36 and 29, Block V afore-
said, along a right line across a public road, to and along
the southern boundary of Section 22, Block VIII, Manga-
rongo Survey District; thence north-westerly along the south-
western boundaries of Section 22 aforesaid, and Sections 23
and part 25; along a right line across a public road, to and
along the south-western boundary of Section 30, the last-
mentioned sections all being situated in Block VIII aforesaid,
to the westernmost corner of those last-mentioned sections,
being a point on the generally south-eastern boundary of the
Korakonui Riding as hereinafter described; thence generally
north-easterly along that boundary to the point of commence-
ment.

KIOKIO RIDING
All that area in the South Auckland Land District, Otoro-
hanga County, bounded by a line commencing at the western-
most corner of Lot 3, D.P. 22045, situated in Block XIII,
Puniu Survey District, being a point on the generally south-
western boundary of the Korakonui Riding as hereinbefore
described, and proceeding generally south-easterly along that
boundary, to the intersection of the south-eastern boundary
of part Rangitoto A 1B 1 Block with the eastern boundary
of Block II, Mangaorongo Survey District; thence south-
westerly along that south-eastern boundary to and south-
easterly along the north-eastern boundary of Ngahape A
No. 1 Block, to and generally south-westerly along the
generally south-eastern boundaries of the last-mentioned block
and Rangitoto Tuhua 29A 1 Block, to and due south along a
right line to the middle line of the Mangaorongo Stream;
thence generally south-westerly down the middle line of that
stream to a point in line with the generally south-western
boundary of part Section 12, Block II aforesaid; thence south-
easterly to and along that boundary to and generally south-
westerly along the generally north-western boundary of Lot 1,
