Special Order Made by Patea County Council Altering Riding Boundaries

PURSUANT to section 88 of the Counties Act 1956, the Secretary for Internal Affairs hereby publishes the following special order made by Patea County Council.

SPECIAL ORDER

IN exercise of the powers conferred on it by section 23 Counties Act 1956, the Patea County Council resolves by way of special order as follows:

  1. That the present division of the County of Patea into four ridings be revoked, and in lieu thereof the said county shall be divided into nine ridings, to be called respectively:

Kapara Riding,
Omahine Riding,
Moumahaki Riding,
Waverley Riding,
Kohi Riding,
Whenuakura Riding,
Patea Riding,
Manutahi Riding, and
Hurleyville Riding.

which said ridings are respectively described in the Schedule hereto.

  1. The said Patea County Council shall consist of nine members who shall be elected by the electors of the said ridings one member for each riding.

  2. The alteration hereby made shall take effect on and after the 9th day of October 1965.


SCHEDULE

KAPARA RIDING

ALL that area in the Taranaki and Wellington Land Districts, comprising a portion of the Patea County, bounded by a line commencing at Trig. Station Rimunui, being the eastern-most corner of the Rotorangi Block in Block VII, Opaku Survey District, and proceeding north-westerly and northerly along the north-eastern and eastern boundaries of Rotorangi Block, to its northernmost corner, being a point on the boundary of the Patea County; thence generally north-easterly, easterly, and southerly along the boundary of the Patea County to the middle of the Waitotara River; thence generally northerly up the middle of that river to a point in line with the south-western boundary of Piraunui 1B 1; thence north-westerly to and along the south-western boundaries of Piraunui 1B 1 and 1B 2B, Te Ngaue B, and Sections 6 and 5, Block IX, Moumahaki Survey District, to the westernmost corner of the last-mentioned section; thence north-westerly along a right line to and along the confiscation line to the point of commencement.

OMAHINE RIDING

ALL that area in the Wellington Land District, comprising portion of the Patea County, bounded by a line commencing at a point in the middle of the Waitotara River at its mouth and proceeding up the middle of that river to the boundary of the Kapara Riding hereinbefore described; thence generally south-westerly along the boundaries of the Kapara, Waverley, and Moumahaki Ridings, hereinbefore described, to the sea coast; thence generally south-westerly along the sea coast to the point of commencement.

MOUMAHAKI RIDING

ALL that area in the Wellington Land District, comprising portion of the Patea County, bounded by a line commencing at the northern extremity of Block IV, Omahine Survey District, being a point on the boundary between the Taranaki and Wellington Land Districts, and proceeding generally southerly along the eastern boundary of the said block and Block III, Wairoa Survey District, to the northern boundary of Section 3, Block IV, Wairoa Survey District, along the northern, eastern, and southern boundaries of that section, the western and southern boundary of part Section 2, Block IV, aforesaid, and its production to the middle of Mangawhio Road; thence southerly along the middle of Ridge Road to the middle of the Moumahaki Stream and down the middle of that stream to a point in line with the south-eastern boundary of part Lot 1, D.P. 3765; thence generally south-westerly to and along that boundary and the western boundary of Lot 2, D.P. 3765, and its production to the middle of Matthew Road; thence westerly along the centre of Matthew and Moumahaki Road to a point in line with the western boundary of Lot 2, D.P. 10291; thence southerly to and along that boundary and its western boundary of part Section 398, Block VIII, Wairoa Survey District, and the production of the last-mentioned boundary to the middle of No. 3 State Highway; thence westerly along the middle of that highway and southerly generally along the middle of Okotuku and Ihupuku Roads to a point in line with the western boundary of Section 408, Okotuku District, to and along that boundary and by right line across Tuke Road to and along the eastern boundary of Section 412, Okotuku District, and its production to the middle of Lennox Road and along the middle of that road and its continuation to the sea coast; thence north-westerly generally along the sea coast to the boundary of the Waverley Riding as hereinbefore described; thence northerly generally along that boundary to the point of commencement.

WAVERLEY RIDING

ALL that area in the Taranaki and Wellington Land Districts, comprising portion of the Patea County, bounded by a line commencing at a point in the middle of the Wairoa Stream at its mouth and proceeding up the middle of that stream to a point in line with the southern boundary of Lot 13, D.P. 6306; thence westerly and northerly to and along the southern and western boundaries of Lot 13, D.P. 6306, the production of the last-mentioned boundary across Waipipi Road to the southern boundary of Lot 14, D.P. 6306; thence northerly generally along the southern boundary of Lot 14, D.P. 6306, and the eastern boundaries of Lots 12 and 11, D.P. 6306, the south-western boundary of Lot 10, D.P. 6306, and its production to the middle of Stewart Road; thence easterly along the middle of Stewart and Tuke Roads to a point in line with the north-western boundary of Section 244, Okotuku District; thence north-easterly to and along that boundary and the north-western boundary of Section 243, Okotuku District, and its production to the middle of Ihupuku Road; thence generally north-easterly along the middle of Ihupuku and Herengawe Roads to a point in line with the southern boundary of Lot 27, D.P. 5291; thence easterly and northerly along the southern and eastern boundaries of that lot and its production across the Foxton - New Plymouth Railway and Lot 26, D.P. 5291, to the middle of No. 3 State Highway; thence easterly along the middle of that highway and northerly along the middle of Waiau Road to a point in line with the western boundary of Section 53, Okotuku District; thence northerly to and along that boundary and its production to the middle of Waitangi Road; thence south-westerly along the middle of that road to a point in line with the south-western boundary of Section 68, Okotuku District; thence generally northerly to and along that boundary and the south-western boundary of Section 69, Okotuku District, and its production across Okotuku Road to and along the southern and western boundaries of Section 71, Okotuku District, and the southern boundary of Section 5, Block II, Wairoa Survey District, and its production to the centre of the Moumahaki Stream; thence generally northerly up the middle of that stream to a point in line with the southern boundary of Section 6, Block II, aforesaid; thence easterly to and along that boundary and generally northerly along the eastern boundary of the said Section 6, the eastern and generally northern boundaries of Section 7, Block II, aforesaid, to and along the generally eastern boundary of Section 1, Block III, Wairoa Survey District, and the eastern boundaries of Lots 2 and 1, D.P. 11964, to the boundary between the Taranaki and Wellington Land Districts; thence north-easterly along that boundary to the confiscation line; thence north-westerly along that line to the middle of the Omahine Stream and generally southerly down the middle of that stream to a point in line with the northern boundary of Section 5, Block XVI, Opaku Survey District; thence westerly to and along that boundary and its production to the middle of Moturoa Road; thence generally south-westerly along the middle of Moturoa and Okahutiria Roads to a point in line with the south-western boundary of Lot 1, D.P. 7241; thence generally southerly to and along that boundary and the boundary between the Taranaki and Wellington Land Districts to the middle of Kohi Road, and along the middle of that road to a point in line with the eastern boundary of Section 426, Okotuku District; thence generally south-westerly to and along the eastern and southern boundaries of the said Section 426 and the eastern boundary of Section 196, Okotuku District, and its production to the centre of Ngamotu Road, along the middle of Ngamotu and
