Special Order Made by Grey County Council Altering Riding Boundaries


PURSUANT to section 88 of the Counties Act 1956, the Secretary for Internal Affairs hereby publishes the following special order made by Grey County Council.

Dated at Wellington this 10th day of August 1965.

SPECIAL ORDER

“IN exercise of the powers conferred on it by sections 35 and 36 of the Counties Act 1956 and of every other power enabling it in that behalf, the Grey County Council hereby resolves by way of special order as follows:

  1. That the Grey County Council shall consist of nine members who shall be elected by the electors of each of the North, East, and South Ridings, each electing three councillors.

  2. That the built-up areas of Omoto and Kaiata and that portion of the East Riding more or less west of a line south from Camp Point, Lake Brunner, to the Taramakau River, in which is situated the settlements of Mitchells and Taramakau, be transferred from the East Riding to the South Riding, and that the boundaries of the said South and East Ridings shall be so altered as are more particularly described in the Schedule hereto.

  3. The alteration hereby made shall take effect on and after the next general election of councillors on the 9th day of October 1965, or such other date as the Minister of Internal Affairs shall decide.”


SCHEDULE

NORTH RIDING

FIRSTLY, all that area in the Westland Land District, County of Grey, bounded by a line commencing at a point in the middle of the mouth of the Punakaiki River and proceeding south-easterly generally along the boundary of the County of Grey, as described in the Gazette, 1960, page 989, to the confluence of the Otututu and Grey Rivers in Block X, Mawheraiti Survey District; thence south-westerly generally down the middle of the Grey River to the eastern boundary of the Borough of Brunner as described in Gazette, 1887, page 1392; thence northerly, westerly, and southerly along the eastern, northern, and western boundaries of that borough to the middle of the Grey River; thence westerly generally down the middle of that river to the eastern boundary of the Borough of Greymouth as described in Gazette, 1934, pages 2998 and 3325; thence northerly and westerly generally along the eastern and northern boundaries of that borough to the sea coast, thence northerly generally along the sea coast to the point of commencement.

Secondly, all that area in the Westland Land District, County of Grey, bounded by a line commencing at a point on the sea coast in Block IV, Cobden Survey District, at the northernmost corner of Reserve 1428 and proceeding south-easterly generally along the north-eastern boundary of that reserve to its north-eastern corner; thence easterly along a right line to a point on the right bank of the Grey River, 10 ft west of the middle line of the Cobden Traffic Bridge; thence southerly, along a line parallel to and distant 10 ft from the middle line of that bridge to the left bank of the Grey River; thence westerly along that left bank to the western boundary of the Borough of Greymouth as described in Gazette, 1934, pages 2998 and 3325; thence southerly along the western boundary of the said borough to the sea coast (across the South Mole); thence north-easterly generally along the sea coast to the point of commencement.

EAST RIDING

ALL that area in the Westland Land District, County of Grey, bounded by a line commencing at a point in the middle of the Taramakau River, in Block IV, Turiwhate Survey District, in line with the eastern boundary of Rural Section 2397 and proceeding northerly to and along the eastern boundaries of Rural Section 2397, Reserve 1603, and Reserve 1665, to the northernmost corner of the last-mentioned reserve; thence northerly along a right line across a public road, Lake Brunner, and another public road to the easternmost corner of part Lot 1, D.P. 53, in Block VIII, Hohonu Survey District; thence northerly and westerly along the eastern and northern boundaries of that part lot to the eastern side of Dobsons Road, along the production of the last-mentioned boundary across that road, and again along the northern boundary of that part lot aforesaid to the eastern side of a public road; thence northerly generally along the eastern side of that public road, the eastern boundaries of part Reserve 1605, Reserve 1946, and again part Reserve 1605, to the northern boundary of that part reserve; thence westerly along that boundary to the right bank of Stillwater Creek; thence northerly generally along that bank to the southern boundary of the Borough of Brunner as described in Gazette, 1887, page 1392; thence easterly and northerly along the southern and eastern boundaries of that borough to the middle of the Grey River; thence north-easterly generally up the middle of the Grey River to the boundary of the County of Grey as described in Gazette, 1960, page 989; thence easterly, south-westerly, and westerly generally along that boundary to the point of commencement.

SOUTH RIDING

ALL that area in the Westland Land District, County of Grey, bounded by a line commencing at a point in the middle of the Taramakau River, in Block IV, Turiwhate Survey District, in line with the eastern boundary of Rural Section 2397 and proceeding northerly generally along the western boundary of the East Riding hereinbefore described to the southern boundary of the Borough of Brunner as described in Gazette, 1887, page 1392; thence westerly and northerly along the southern and western boundaries of that borough to the middle of the Grey River; thence easterly generally down the middle of that river to the eastern boundary of the Borough of Greymouth as described in Gazette, 1934, pages 2998 and 3325; thence southerly generally and north-westerly along the eastern and south-western boundaries of that borough to the sea coast; thence southerly along the sea coast to the middle of the Taramakau River; thence south-easterly generally up the middle of that river to the point of commencement.

Special Order Made by Patangata County Council Altering Riding Boundaries


PURSUANT to section 88 of the Counties Act 1956, the Secretary for Internal Affairs hereby publishes the following special order made by Patangata County Council.

SPECIAL ORDER

NOTICE is hereby given that at a special meeting of the Patangata County Council, held on Wednesday, 21 April 1965, at 10.30 a.m., a resolution by way of special order was passed, the purport of the resolution being:

“That, pursuant to the provisions of section 43 of the Counties Act 1956 and amendments thereto, Council do hereby make, by way of special order, adjustment to the Boundaries of the Eparaima and Porangahau Ridings of the County of Patangata as set out in the Schedule attached hereto.

“Such alteration to become effective as from 1 August 1965.”


SCHEDULE 1

AREA TO BE DELETED FROM THE EPARAIMA RIDING AND ADDED TO THE PORANGAHAU RIDING

ALL that area in the Patangata County, Eparaima Riding, bounded by a line commencing at a point on the right bank of the Mangaorapa Stream in line with the northern boundary of Te Aurere No. 1, and proceeding westerly generally along that right bank and the right bank of the Tangaruha Stream to the south-eastern boundary of Section 3, Block VIII, Mangatoro Survey District; thence north-easterly along that boundary to the north-easternmost corner of the said Section 3; thence easterly generally along the northern, eastern, and northern boundaries of Section 1 and the northern boundaries of Section 2, Block V, Porangahau Survey District, Section 1, Block VI, Porangahau Survey District, Sections 4 and 5, Block X, Porangahau Survey District, and Te Aurere No. 1, and the production of the last-mentioned boundary to the point of commencement.
