Declaring Land to be Subject to the Provisions of Part XXIV of the Maori Affairs Act 1953 (Hokianga Development Scheme)

Pursuant to section 330 of the Maori Affairs Act 1953, the Board of Maori Affairs hereby declares that, on and from the date of the publication of this notice in the Gazette, the land described in the Schedule hereto shall be subject to the provisions of Part XXIV of the Maori Affairs Act 1953.

Tariff and Development Board Notice No. 37—Public Inquiry Into Import Duties and Import Licensing Affecting Printed Woven Furnishing Fabrics

  1. The Tariff and Development Board proposes to inquire into and report on the question of what rates of import duty should be imposed on printed woven furnishing fabrics and fabrics for household use, also import licensing as affecting such goods, included in the following tariff items:

The present rates of import duty in respect of these items are:

British Preferential: Free.
General Tariff: 15 per cent.

  1. In this inquiry the Board will pay particular attention to the administrative practicability of segregating, for purposes of tariff and import licensing, printed furnishing fabrics from printed fabrics suited for other uses.

  2. For the purpose of taking evidence on this subject the Board will hold a public inquiry commencing on Monday, 8 November 1965, at 10.30 a.m., in the Boardroom, First Floor, Law Society Building, 26 Waring Taylor Street, Wellington.

  3. Any person who intends to tender evidence should comply with the “Notes for the Guidance of Witnesses”, which have been prepared by the Board. A copy of these notes may be obtained from the under named.

  4. Twelve copies of a typewritten statement of the evidence to be tendered, compiled in accordance with these notes, should be lodged with the under named not later than Monday, 25 October 1965. Each statement will need to be presented under oath at the public inquiry by the person tendering it.

Exemption From Provision of Traffic Regulations to Permit Two Blue Lights on Omnibuses

Pursuant to subclause (1) of regulation 25A of the Traffic Regulations 1956,* the Commissioner of Transport hereby exempts omnibuses from the provisions of the said regulations which prohibit the display of a blue light, provided that the vehicles concerned display two blue lights, each having an effective lens area of not less than 3 sq. in. directed horizontally forward and fitted as high as is conveniently possible near the front of the body and as far apart transversely as is structurally convenient, but in no case closer than 40 in. from centre to centre.

Special Order Made by Opotiki County Council Altering Riding Boundaries

Pursuant to section 88 of the Counties Act 1956, the Secretary for Internal Affairs hereby publishes the following special order made by Opotiki County Council.

SPECIAL ORDER

In exercise of powers conferred upon it by section 23 of the Counties Act 1956, the Opotiki County Council hereby resolves by special order to alter the number of ridings within the county from five to six, the six ridings being named as follows: Cape Riding, Coast Riding, Ohiwa Riding, Otara Riding, Waioeka Riding, and Waiotahi Riding; that the boundaries of Ohiwa, Otara, Waioeka, and Waiotahi Ridings remain unchanged; that the boundaries of the Cape and Coast Ridings be as defined hereunder in the First and Second Schedules hereto; that the alteration hereby made in the number of ridings and boundaries of ridings within the Opotiki County shall take effect at the general election of councillors to be held on the 9th day of October 1965, except in so far and to such extent as may be necessary for preparing any roll, or otherwise providing for that election.

FIRST SCHEDULE

CAPE RIDING

ALL that area in the Gisborne Land District, Opotiki County, bounded by a line commencing at Potikirua on the sea coast, situated in Block III, Whangaparaoa North Survey District, and being also the north-eastern corner of part Whangaparaoa 2D and 2E 2B 1 Block; and proceeding southerly generally along the north-eastern boundary of the said block, and its production across State Highway No. 35 to and along the said north-eastern boundary, and its production across a public road to and along the said north-eastern boundary and the north-eastern boundary of Section 1, Block I, Matakaoa West Survey District, to the south-eastern corner of the last-mentioned section; thence westerly generally along the southern boundaries of Section 1, aforesaid, part Whangaparaoa 2D and 2E 2B 2, and the production of the last-mentioned boundary to the middle of the Whangaparaoa River, up the middle of that river to a point in line with the middle of the Mangapouri Stream, to and up the middle of that stream to a point in line with the eastern boundary of Lot 1, L.T. 10599 (AK); thence southerly generally to and along that boundary and the eastern boundaries of Lot 2, L.T. 10599 (AK), Lots 3 and 4, L.T. 10600 (AK), and the production of the last-mentioned boundary to the middle of the Waikura River, down the middle of that river to a point in line with the north-eastern boundary of Lot 1, L.T. 9472 (AK), to and along that boundary and the north-eastern boundary of Te Kumi No. 1 Block to Trigonometrical Station Pakira in Block VIII, Raukumara East Survey District, along the south-eastern boundary of the said Te Kumi No. 1 to Trigonometrical Station 1328 Honokawa in Block X, Raukumara East Survey District, along a right line to Trigonometrical Station Kapua in Block V, Hikurangi Survey District, along a right line in the direction of Trigonometrical Station Arowhana to the middle of the Ruatahunga Stream in Block IX, Hikurangi Survey District; thence north-westerly generally up the middle of the said stream to its junction with Mangawehi Stream, to and along the north-eastern boundary of Maungawaru No. 4, the north-eastern boundary of Maungawaru Nos. 2 and 3, and its production to the middle of the Te Kahika Stream, down the middle of that stream to the middle of the Motu River in Block VI, Maungawaru Survey District, down the middle of that river to a point
