The Cook Islands Act 1915—Persons Qualified for Appointment as Assessors in Criminal Trials
H. E. BARROWCLOUGH, Administrator of the Government
PURSUANT to the Cook Islands Act 1915, I, Major-General the Right Honourable Sir Harold Eric Barrowclough, the Administrator of the Government of New Zealand, hereby revoke the nomination of persons qualified for appointment as assessors in criminal trials in the High Court of the Cook Islands, made by Warrant dated the 15th day of August 1961,* and in lieu thereof I hereby nominate the persons named in the Schedule hereto as persons qualified for appointment as assessors under the said Act generally in criminal trials in the High Court of the Cook Islands in the Island of Niue.

PURSUANT to the Navy Act 1954, His Excellency the Administrator of the Government has approved the following appointments and promotions in the Royal New Zealand Navy.
Acting Lieutenant B. Craig, confirmed in the rank of Lieutenant with original seniority of 31 December 1963.
Sub-Lieutenant J. A. Westphall, promoted to the rank of Lieutenant and reappointed, to date 1 May 1965.
Temporary Sub-Lieutenant H. B. Louth, promoted to the rank of Temporary Acting Lieutenant and reappointed, to date 20 May 1965.
Acting Sub-Lieutenants J. K. Lowerson and D. W. Morgan, confirmed in the rank of Sub-Lieutenant, with seniority of 8 June 1964, and reappointed.

PURSUANT to section 15 of the Royal New Zealand Air Force Act 1950, His Excellency the Administrator of the Government has been pleased to approve the following appointments, promotions, extensions of dates of retirement, transfers, terminations of commissions, and retirements of officers of the Royal New Zealand Air Force.

Appointment
Officer Cadet Mark Anthony Easson (82028) is granted a short-service commission in the General Duties Branch, Regular Air Force, for a period ending 11 January 1971, to be followed by four years in the Reserve of Air Force Officers. He is appointed in the rank of Acting Pilot Officer, with seniority and effect from 25 June 1965.
Forfeiture of Seniority
The seniority of Rex Joseph Lorigan (80415) in the rank of Flying Officer is to date from 24 September 1963 instead of 24 May 1963.
TECHNICAL BRANCH
Transfer to Retired List
Engineer Division
Squadron Leader Wilfred Gordon Anstis (73635) is transferred to the Retired List “A”, with effect from 23 July 1965.

Exempting Land in the Nelson Land District From the Operation of Part III of the Coal Mines Act 1925

PURSUANT to the Coal Mines Act 1925, His Excellency the Administrator of the Government hereby gives the following notice.
NOTICE
THE land described in the Schedule hereto is hereby exempted from the operation of Part III of the Coal Mines Act 1925.
SCHEDULE
ALL that area of land containing 4 acres 3 roods and 9 perches, more or less, being part of Section 189, Square 131, situated in Block IX, Reefton Survey District, and being more particularly delineated on a plan deposited in the Head Office of Mines Department, Wellington, under No. 11/22/5 and thereon edged red.
As witness the hand of His Excellency the Administrator of the Government this 16th day of July 1965.
