THE RIGHT HON. KEITH HOLYOAKE, C.H., PRESIDING IN COUNCIL PURSUANT to the Public Works Act 1928 and the Electric Power Boards Act 1925, His Excellency the Governor-General, acting by and with the advice and consent of the Executive Council, hereby consents to the assignment to the Amethyst Electric Power Board by Amethyst Power Ltd. of its rights, powers, and privileges under an Order in Council dated the 12th day of May 1954, and published in the Gazette on the 13th day of the same month at page 826, as amended by the Order in Council dated the 13th day of April 1959, and published in the Gazette on the 23rd day of the same month at page 520, and as further amended by the Order in Council dated the 14th day of August 1963, and published in the Gazette on the 15th day of the same month at page 1157.

Setting Apart Maori Freehold Land as a Maori Reservation BERNARD FERGUSSON, Governor-General ORDER IN COUNCIL

At the Government Buildings at Wellington this 26th day of April 1965 Present:

THE RIGHT HON. KEITH HOLYOAKE, C.H., PRESIDING IN COUNCIL PURSUANT to section 439 of the Maori Affairs Act 1953, His Excellency the Governor-General, acting by and with the advice and consent of the Executive Council, hereby sets apart the Maori freehold land described as Maraetai 3A Block as a Maori reservation for the purpose of a burial ground for the common use and benefit of the Maori people of the Maraetai district generally.

Appointing a Commission to Inquire into Explosion and Fire at Masterton

To all unto whom these presents shall come, and to:

The Honourable SIR ARTHUR TYNDALE, C.M.G., of Wellington, retired Judge of the Court of Arbitration;

JOSEPH IVON GRAHAM, Esquire, of Picton, retired Professor of Coalmining; and

THOMAS HAGYARD, Esquire, of Christchurch, Reader in chemical engineering.

GREETING:

WHEREAS it is deemed expedient that inquiry should be made into the cause of the explosion and fire which occurred at the premises of General Plastics (N.Z.) Ltd. at Masterton on the 13th day of April 1965 and matters incidental thereto:

Now therefore, pursuant to the Commissions of Inquiry Act 1908, I, Brigadier Sir Bernard Edward Fergusson, the Governor-General of New Zealand, acting by and with the advice and consent of the Executive Council, hereby appoint you, the said the Honourable Sir Arthur Tyndale, Joseph Ivon Graham, and Thomas Hagyard, to be a Commission to inquire into and report upon the following matters:

(a) The cause of the explosion and fire:

(b) Suggestions for the prevention of similar explosions and fires in the future:

(c) The necessity or expediency of any legislation for the prevention of this type of explosion and fire:

(d) Such other matters as may be brought to the notice of the Commission or initiated by it and as may be deemed by it to be relevant to its functions as defined in paragraphs (a), (b), and (c) above:

And with the like advice and consent I do further appoint you, the said the Honourable Sir Arthur Tyndale, to be Chairman of the said Commission:

And for the better enabling you to carry these presents into effect you are hereby authorised and empowered to make and conduct any inquiry under these presents, in accordance with the Commissions of Inquiry Act 1908, at such times and places as you deem expedient, with power to adjourn from time to time and place to place as you think fit, and so that these presents shall continue in force and the inquiry may at any time and place be resumed although not regularly adjourned from time to time or place to place:

And you are hereby strictly charged and directed that you shall not at any time publish or otherwise disclose, save to me in pursuance of these presents or by my direction, the contents or purport of any report so made or to be made by you or any evidence or information obtained by you in exercise of the powers hereby conferred upon you except such evidence or information as is received in the course of a sitting open to the public:

And it is hereby declared that the powers hereby conferred shall be exercisable notwithstanding the absence at any time of any one of the members hereby appointed:

And it is hereby further declared that you have liberty to report your proceedings and recommendations under this Commission from time to time if you shall judge it expedient so to do:

And, using all due diligence, you are required to report to me in writing under your hands not later than the 30th day of June 1965 your findings and opinions on the matters aforesaid, together with such recommendations as you think fit to make in respect thereof.

The Otago Electric Power District Boundary Order 1965

At the Government Buildings at Wellington this 26th day of April 1965 Present:

THE RIGHT HON. KEITH HOLYOAKE, C.H., PRESIDING IN COUNCIL PURSUANT to section 5A of the Electric Power Boards Act 1925 (as inserted by section 3 of the Electric Power Boards Amendment Act 1963), His Excellency the Governor-General, acting by and with the advice and consent of the Executive Council, hereby makes the following order.

ORDER

  1. This order may be cited as the Otago Electric Power District Boundary Order 1965.

  2. The boundaries of the Otago Electric Power District are hereby altered so as to include therein the area described in the Schedule hereto.

SCHEDULE

ALL that area in the Otago Land District, Clutha County, bounded by a line commencing at the south-western corner of Section 24, Block XII, Tautuku Survey District, and proceeding northerly along the western boundary of that section and its production to a point due east of Trig. Station "V" (Black Horn) in Block XIV, Waikawa Survey District; thence due east to the middle of the Chasland or Waipati River; thence generally south-easterly down the middle of that river to the sea coast; thence generally westerly along the sea coast to the middle of the mouth of the Longbeach Creek; thence generally north-westerly up the middle of that creek to a point in line with the western boundary of Section 44, Block XII, Tautuku Survey District; thence northerly to and along that boundary and its production to the point of commencement. As the said area is shown on the plan marked N.Z.E.D. 657 deposited in the office of the New Zealand Electricity Department at Wellington, and thereon coloured red.

Authorising the Auckland Harbour Board to Reclaim Land at Onehunga, Manukau Harbour

At the Government Buildings at Wellington this 20th day of April 1965 Present:

THE RIGHT HON. KEITH HOLYOAKE, C.H., PRESIDING IN COUNCIL PURSUANT to section 175 of the Harbours Act 1950, His Excellency the Governor-General, acting by and with the advice and consent of the Executive Council, hereby authorises the Auckland Harbour Board to reclaim from Manukau Harbour at Onehunga an area of 3 roods 7 perches, more or less, as shown coloured yellow on plan marked M.D. 11986, and deposited in the office of the Marine Department at Wellington.
