Revoking a Proclamation Taking Land in Block XI, Pirongia Survey District, Otorohanga County

A PROCLAMATION

PURSUANT to the Public Works Act 1928, I, Brigadier Sir Bernard Edward Fergusson, the Governor-General of New Zealand, hereby revoke the Proclamation dated the 21st day of August 1964, published in Gazette, 10 September 1964, Volume III, at page 1517, taking land for the purposes of subsection 6, of section 29, of the Public Works Amendment Act 1948, in Block XI, Pirongia Survey District, Otorohanga County.

Given under the hand of His Excellency the Governor-General, and issued under the Seal of New Zealand, this 24th day of November 1964.

Lands in Otago and Westland Land Districts Declared to be a National Park

HIS EXCELLENCY THE GOVERNOR-GENERAL IN COUNCIL

PURSUANT to section 10 of the National Parks Act 1952, His Excellency the Governor-General, acting by and with the advice and consent of the Executive Council, hereby declares that the lands described in the First and Second Schedules hereto shall be a national park under and subject to the provisions of the said Act, and shall be known as the Mount Aspiring National Park.


FIRST SCHEDULE

OTAGO LAND DISTRICT

PART I

Scenic Reserves Subject to the Provisions of the Reserves and Domains Act 1953

FIRSTLY, all that area situated in Vincent County, and Young, Wilkin, Haast, McKerrow, and Hunter Survey Districts, containing 62,200 acres, more or less, bounded by a line commencing at Mount Brewster in the Southern Alps and proceeding generally south-westerly along the watershed of the Young Range to the northernmost corner of Run 710; thence generally south-westerly and northerly along the north-western and eastern boundaries of that run to the eastern boundary of Run 99; thence generally northerly and south-westerly along the eastern and north-western boundaries of that run to the southernmost corner of Section 7698, Block V, McKerrow Survey District; thence north-easterly and north-westerly along the south-eastern and north-eastern boundaries of that section to the southernmost corner of Section 4690, Block I, McKerrow Survey District; thence north-easterly along the south-eastern boundary of that section and its production to the north-eastern side of a legal road; thence north-westerly along the north-eastern side of that road and north-easterly and north-westerly along the south-eastern and north-eastern boundaries of Section 23871, Block I, aforesaid to the southernmost corner of Section 23870, Block I, aforesaid; thence north-easterly along the south-eastern boundary of that section and its production to the south-western boundary of Section 21037, Block I, aforesaid; thence south-easterly, north-easterly, and north-westerly along the south-western, south-eastern, and north-eastern boundaries of that section, and north-easterly along the south-eastern boundary of Section 21028, Block I, aforesaid to its easternmost corner; thence south-easterly along the south-western side of a legal road to a point in line with the south-eastern boundary of Section 2247, Block XI, Haast Survey District and north-easterly to and along that boundary to the south-western boundary of Section 34695, Block XI, aforesaid; thence north-westerly along that south-western boundary and its production to the left bank of the Makarora River and generally north-easterly along that left bank to a point in line with right bank of the Blue River; thence generally north-westerly to and along that right bank to the northernmost corner of the State Forest; thence south-easterly, north-westerly, and south-easterly along the south-western, north-eastern, and south-western boundaries of the State forest to the north-western boundary of Run 98, and south-westerly along that north-western boundary to the north-eastern boundary of the State forest; thence north-westerly and south-easterly along the north-eastern and south-western boundaries of the State forest to the north-western boundary of Run 98 and south-westerly along that boundary to the north-eastern boundary of the State forest, Young Survey District; thence north-westerly and south-easterly along the north-eastern and south-western boundaries of the State forest to the north-western boundary of Run 98 and south-westerly along that boundary to the north-eastern boundary of the State forest; thence generally north-westerly, south-easterly, westerly, and south-easterly along the north-eastern, south-western, northern, and south-western boundaries of the State forest to the north-western

boundary of Run 98 and generally south-westerly along that north-western boundary to the generally eastern boundary of the State forest, Wilkin Survey District; thence generally northerly along that eastern boundary to the north-eastern boundary of Run 97A and north-westerly along that boundary to the north-western boundary of the Otago Land District on the summit of the Southern Alps; thence generally north-easterly along that boundary to the point of commencement.

Secondly, all that area situated in Lake County and Dart and Humboldt Survey Districts containing 27,747 acres, more or less, bounded by a line commencing at the north-western corner of Run 716 at Upper Peak and proceeding westerly along the southern boundary of the Routeburn Scenic Reserve to the eastern boundary of Fiordland National Park at Ocean Peak; thence generally northerly along that eastern boundary to the north-eastern boundary of the Routeburn Scenic Reserve and generally south-easterly along that north-eastern boundary to the north-western boundary of Section 2, Block XII, Dart Survey District; thence north-easterly along that north-western boundary and its production to the right bank of the Dart River; thence generally southerly along that right bank to a point in line with the north-western boundary of Section 1, Block I, Dart Survey District; thence generally westerly to and along that boundary and the southern boundary of Scenic Reserve A to the eastern boundary of the Routeburn Scenic Reserve; thence southerly and westerly along the eastern and southern boundaries of the Routeburn Scenic Reserve to the point of commencement. And including the beds and waters of all internal rivers, streams, lakes, and Crown land reserved from sale pursuant to section 58, Land Act 1948, but excluding all public roads, also Section 2248, Block VIII, Haast Survey District known as Kiwi Flat, and Section 1 and Crown land Block XII, Haast Survey District, known as Cameron’s Flat.

As shown on the plan marked L. and S. 4/1068 and 4/1068A, deposited in the Head Office, Department of Lands and Survey at Wellington, under No. 3125, and thereon coloured blue and edged blue.

PART II

Crown Land Subject to the Provisions of the Land Act 1948

FIRSTLY, all that area in Vincent County and Haast and Hunter Survey Districts containing 11,800 acres, more or less, bounded by a line commencing at Mount Brewster in the Southern Alps and proceeding south-easterly along a right line to the northernmost corner of the State forest situated on the south-western side of Long Flat Creek, Hunter Survey District; thence generally southerly along the western boundary of the State forest to the northern boundary of Run 710; thence generally westerly along the northern boundary of that run to its northernmost corner; thence generally north-easterly along the watershed of the Young Range to the point of commencement.

Secondly, all that area in Lake County and Dart, Humboldt, Humboldtside, Forbes, Forbeside, Cascade, and Matukituki Survey Districts containing 168,800 acres, more or less, bounded by a line commencing at the summit of Mount Aspiring at the north-western corner of the Matukituki Survey District and proceeding generally easterly along the northern boundary of the Matukituki Survey District to its intersection with the north-western boundary of the provisional State forest; thence south-westerly along that north-western boundary to the north-eastern boundary of Run 715, and generally south-westerly along the north-western boundary of that run to the generally eastern boundary of the provisional State forest; thence generally northerly and southerly along the eastern and western boundaries of the provisional State forest to the north-eastern boundary of Run 715; thence north-westerly and south-westerly along the north-eastern and north-western boundaries of that run to the generally eastern boundary of the provincial State forest; thence generally northerly, southerly, easterly, and again northerly along several boundaries of that provisional State forest to the south-western boundary of Run 715; thence south-easterly along that south-western boundary and generally westerly along the northern boundaries of Runs 715, 20, and 19 to the southernmost corner of Run 522 at Head Peak; thence north-westerly along the south-western boundary of Run 522 to the south-eastern boundary of the provisional State forest; thence generally north-easterly and westerly along the south-eastern and northern boundaries of the provisional State forest to the western boundary of Run 522; thence generally south-westerly, northerly, and southerly along the north-western, eastern, and western boundaries of the provisional State forest to a line bearing 139° 45′ from Trig. Y, Humboldt Survey District; thence north-westerly along that right line to its intersection with the generally eastern boundary of the Fiordland National Park; thence generally northerly along the watershed between the Hollyford and Dart Rivers, through Niobe Peak, Tantalus Peak, and Fohn Saddle to Brenda Peak, Humboldt Survey District; thence north-easterly along a right line between Brenda Peak and McCliment Peak to and along the south-eastern boundary of the provisional State forest to its easternmost corner; thence north-westerly and south-westerly along the north-eastern and north-western boundaries of the provisional State forest to the intersection of the last-mentioned boundary with the right line between Brenda Peak and McCliment Peak, and along that right line to McCliment Peak; thence north-easterly along a right line to Farrell Peak; thence north-easterly again along a right line to the intersection of the northern boundary of the Otago Land District with the western boundary of the provisional State forest in Forbeside Survey District; thence generally south-westerly, easterly, again south-westerly and north-easterly along the north-western, southern, north-western, and south-eastern boundaries of that provisional State forest to the northern boundary of the Otago Land District and along that boundary to the point of
