SCHEDULE
STATE HIGHWAYS CLASSIFIED IN CLASS ONE
The State highways described as follows but exclusive of any portion of the State highways within the boundaries of a borough.
No. 1 State Highway (Awanui-Bluff) (from the No. 8 State Highway (Timaru-Milton) at Clarksville to the north-eastern boundary of Gore Borough).
No. 6 State Highway (Blenheim-Invercargill via Nelson and Greymouth) (from the Kingston Road to the northern boundary of Lumsden Town District).
No. 8 State Highway (Timaru-Milton) (from the eastern boundary of Cromwell Borough to Roxburgh Hydro).

Land Surveyors’ Examination, August 1964—Australia and New Zealand
It is hereby notified for general information that the Survey Board, in conjunction with the Australian Surveyors’ Boards, will conduct an examination of candidates for registration as surveyors, commencing at 9 a.m. on Monday, 17 August 1964.
Candidates are notified that their applications, on the proper form, must reach the Secretary of the Board not later than Monday, 20 July 1964, and that the examination fee must be paid at the same time to the Secretary, from whom application forms and other particulars may be obtained.
Candidates presenting themselves for examination in any written subject or subjects may present themselves for examination at any Chief Surveyor’s office, or at the office of the District Surveyor at Rotorua or Whangarei.
Candidates for the oral and practical portion of the examination must sit in Wellington. Plans for this portion of the examination, the certificate, and other evidence required by regulation No. 24 of the Survey Examination Regulations 1962, must be forwarded not later than 14 September 1964.
The fees for examination are as follows:

Tariff and Development Board Notice No. 22—Public Inquiry Into Import Duties on Heavy Duty Trailer Axle Assemblies
- The Tariff and Development Board proposes to inquire into and report on the question of what rates of import duty should be imposed on heavy duty trailer axle assemblies (not including driven axles), comprising shaft, casing, hubs, and brake drums. These goods are included in the following Tariff item:
Vehicles n.e.i. (including trailers), not mechanically propelled, and parts thereof:
Item No. 733.300.5 Axles and axle boxes.
The present rates of import duty in respect of these goods are:
British Preferential: Free.
Most Favoured Nation: 20 per cent.
General Tariff: 25 per cent.

For the purpose of taking evidence on this subject the Board will hold a public inquiry commencing on Tuesday, 25 August 1964, at 10 a.m., in the Boardroom, First Floor, New Zealand Law Society Building, Waring Taylor Street, Wellington.

Any person who intends to tender evidence should comply with the “Notes for the Guidance of Witnesses”, which have been prepared by the Board. A copy of these notes may be obtained from the under-named.

Twelve copies of a typewritten statement of the evidence to be tendered, compiled in accordance with these notes, should be lodged with the under-named not later than Tuesday, 11 August 1964. Each statement will need to be presented under oath at the public inquiry by the person tendering it.

Tariff and Development Board Notice No. 23—Public Inquiry Into Import Duties and Import Licensing Affecting Battery-illuminated 35 mm Transparency Slide Viewers
- The Tariff and Development Board proposes to inquire into and report on the question of what rates of import duty should be imposed on battery-illuminated 35 mm transparency slide viewers, also import licensing as affecting such articles. These goods are included in the following tariff item:
Item No. 861.390.9 Optical appliances and instruments (but not including lighting appliances), n.e.i.
The present rates of import duty in respect of this item are:
British Preferential: Free.
Most Favoured Nation: 20 per cent.
General Tariff: 25 per cent.

Tariff and Development Board Notice No. 24—Public Inquiry Into Certain Types of Paper and Paperboard
- The Tariff and Development Board has been requested by the Minister of Customs to inquire into and report to him on certain types of paper and paperboard in accordance with the following order of reference:
(i) Whether a determination should be made in respect of all or any of the goods covered by the inquiry;
(ii) If so, the rates of duty which should be applied;
(iii) The basis which should be adopted for the issue of import licences, if any, for the goods;
(iv) Methods of distribution adopted by the manufacturers of the goods and prices charged by them;
(v) Whether, from the point of view of practical administration, the description of the goods for which determination has been requested is adequate;
(vi) Any other matters which the Board may consider relevant.
A list of the types of paper and paperboard covered by the inquiry, and the tariff items involved, may be obtained on request from the under-named.

For the purpose of taking evidence on this subject the Board will hold a public inquiry commencing on Monday, 12 October 1964, at 10.30 a.m., in the Boardroom, First Floor, New Zealand Law Society Building, Waring Taylor Street, Wellington.

Any person who intends to tender evidence should comply with the “Notes for the Guidance of Witnesses”, which have been prepared by the Board. A copy of these notes may be obtained from the under-named.

Twelve copies of a typewritten statement of the evidence to be tendered, compiled in accordance with these notes, should be lodged with the under-named not later than Monday, 28 September 1964. Each statement will need to be presented under oath at the public inquiry by the person tendering it. Submissions regarding paper should be made separate from those regarding paperboard.
