The Te Awamutu Rabbit District Order 1964 (Notice No. Ag. 7935)

PURSUANT to the Rabbits Act 1955, His Excellency the Governor-General, acting by and with the advice and consent of the Executive Council, hereby makes the following order.

O R D E R

  1. (1) This order may be cited as the Te Awamutu Rabbit District Order 1964.
    (2) This order shall come into force on the day after the date of its notification in the Gazette.
  2. The boundaries of the Te Awamutu Rabbit District, which was constituted by Order in Council on the 9th day of August 1961,* are hereby altered and redefined and, as from the commencement of this order, the boundaries of the said district shall be those specified in the Schedule hereto.

SCHEDULE

BOUNDARIES OF THE TE AWAMUTU RABBIT DISTRICT

ALL that area in the South Auckland Land District, Waipa, Otorohanga, Waitomo, and Matamata Counties, the Boroughs of Te Awamutu, Otorohanga, and that part of Cambridge south of the Waikato River, and Ohaupo and Kihikihi Town Districts, containing 486,200 acres, more or less, bounded by a line commencing at the confluence of the Mangakotukutu Stream and the Waikato River in Block III, Hamilton Survey District; thence easterly up the middle of that river and Arapuni Lake to and south-westerly up the middle of the Waipapa River and the Tongatongarerewa Stream to its intersection with the northern boundary of part Wharepuhanga 17A; thence westerly along that boundary and the northern boundary of part Wharepuhanga 17A (provisional State forest, Gazette, 1920, page 2119) to and southerly along the western boundary of the last-named part 17A and part Wharepuhanga 20 (provisional State forest, Gazette, 1920, page 2119), and that last-named boundary produced to the middle of a public road; thence westerly generally along the middle of that road forming the generally northern boundary of Sections 15, 12, and 9, to a point in line with the north-western boundary of Section 9; thence along a right line to and south-westerly and south-easterly along the aforesaid north-western boundary, and the north-western and south-western boundaries of Section 13, all the said sections being of Block II, Ranginui Survey District, to the intersection of the last-named boundary with the eastern boundary of Block I, Ranginui Survey District; thence southerly and westerly along the eastern and southern boundaries of the said block to the intersection of the middle of the Tunawaea Stream; thence south-westerly down the middle of that stream to its confluence with the Waipa River in Block VIII, Pakaumanu Survey District, and northerly generally along the middle of that river to a point in line with the production westerly of the southern boundary of part Allotment 122, Tuhikaramea Parish, in Block VIII, Alexandra Survey District; thence easterly along a right line to and along the southern boundaries of parts Allotments 122, 121A, 121, 120, 119, and 118, a right line crossing a public road, the southern boundaries of Lot 1, D.P. 29819, Lot 1, D.P. S. 4225, part Lots 7 and 13, D.P. 20493, a right line along the southern end of a public road, the southern boundary of Lot 18, D.P. 20493, a right line crossing a public road and along the southern boundary of part Lot 16, D.P. 20493, to the south-eastern corner of the said part Lot 16; thence generally easterly and generally northerly along the generally northern and generally western sides of a public road to the easternmost corner of Allotment 140, Tuhikaramea Parish, as shown on D.P. 11200; thence by a right line across a public road to the southernmost corner of Lot 2, D.P. S. 3429; thence generally northerly along the generally western side of a public road to the northernmost corner of part Lot 1, D.P. 12958, all in Block VIII, Alexandra Survey District; thence by a right line across a public road to the south-western corner of part Allotment 62, Tuhikaramea Parish, as on D.P. 3672; thence generally easterly along the generally northern side of a public road to the eastern side of the North Island Main Trunk Railway; thence generally south-easterly along the boundary of the City of Hamilton as described in the Gazette, 1962, page 884, to the point of commencement.

Directing the Revision of District Valuation Roll

PURSUANT to the Valuation of Land Act 1951, His Excellency the Governor-General, acting by and with the advice and consent of the Executive Council, hereby directs that the District Valuation Roll for Te Puke Borough shall be revised by the Valuer-General as at 1 March 1964.

Counties of Cook and Uawa United

THE HON. DEAN J. EYRE, PRESIDING IN COUNCIL

PURSUANT to the Local Government Commission Act 1961, His Excellency the Governor-General, acting by and with the advice and consent of the Executive Council hereby makes the following order.

O R D E R

  1. That on and from the 1st day of April 1964 the County of Cook and the County of Uawa are hereby united to form one county to be known as the County of Cook (hereinafter referred to as the united county).
  2. That until the date prescribed by law for the first triennial general election of members of county councils held after the 1st day of April 1985, the united county shall be divided into 14 ridings to be known as the Gisborne, Waimata, Whataupoko, Patutahi, Pouawa, Pakarae, Muriwai, Waingake, Taruheru, Tiniroto, Te Aroha, Ormond, Uawa, and Tauwhareparae Ridings.
  3. (a) That the Gisborne, Waimata, Whataupoko, Patutahi, Pouawa, Pakarae, Muriwai, Waingake, Taruheru, Tiniroto, Te Aroha, and Ormond Ridings of the united county shall comprise respectively the present Gisborne, Waimata, Whataupoko, Patutahi, Pouawa, Pakarae, Muriwai, Waingake, Taruheru, Tiniroto, Te Aroha, and Ormond Ridings of the present County of Cook.
    (b) That the Uawa and Tauwhareparae Ridings of the united county shall comprise the areas described under their respective headings in the Schedule hereto.
  4. That until the date prescribed by law for the first triennial general election of members of county councils held after the 1st day of April 1985, the number of members of the council of the united county shall be 15, to be elected as follows:

For the Gisborne Riding ....... One member.
For the Waimata Riding ....... One member.
For the Whataupoko Riding ....... One member.
For the Patutahi Riding ....... One member.
For the Pouawa Riding ....... One member.
For the Pakarae Riding ....... One member.
For the Muriwai Riding ....... One member.
For the Waingake Riding ....... One member.
For the Taruheru Riding ....... One member.
For the Tiniroto Riding ....... One member.
For the Te Aroha Riding ....... One member.
For the Ormond Riding ....... One member.
For the Uawa Riding ....... Two members.
For the Tauwhareparae Riding ....... One member.

  1. That the first election of members of the Council of the united county shall be held on the day fixed by law for the next triennial general election of members of county councils.
  2. That until the members elected as aforesaid come into office the Council of the united county shall comprise the 12 members of the present council of the County of Cook, together with three members of the present council of the County of Uawa to be chosen by that Council, and for the purpose of making that choice but for no other purpose the Uawa County Council may continue in office after the 31st day of March 1964.
  3. That Reginald Keith Gardiner, County Clerk of the present County of Cook, shall be the County Clerk and Returning Officer of the united county.
  4. That except as otherwise provided in this Order in Council the union of the County of Cook and the County of Uawa hereinbefore made shall be deemed to have been affected under the Counties Act 1956.

A. UAWA RIDINGโ€”COUNTY OF COOK

ALL that area in the Gisborne Land District, Uawa County, bounded by a line commencing at a point in the middle of the Pakarae River, being a point in line with the south-eastern boundary of Mangaheia 1F, Block XIV, Uawa Survey District, and being a point on the Cook County boundary as described in Gazette, 1956, page 410, and proceeding in a northerly direction generally to and along the said south-eastern and the north-eastern boundaries of Mangaheia 1F,
