Roads Excluded from Speed Limitation and Limited Speed Zones Declared

PURSUANT to the Transport Act 1962, the Minister of Transport hereby gives notice as follows:

1. That the Warrant under section 36 of the Transport Act 1949 dated the 12th day of June 1958* which relates to Murupara Borough, formerly known as Murupara Town District, is hereby revoked.

2. The roads specified in the First Schedule hereto are hereby excluded from the limitation as to speed imposed by section 52 of the Transport Act 1962.

3. The road specified in the Second Schedule hereto is hereby declared to be a limited speed zone for the purposes of the Traffic Regulations 1956†.

FIRST SCHEDULE

SITUATED within Murupara Borough:

No. 38 State Highway (Waiotapu-Wairoa via Waikaremoana).

Te Teko-Murupara road.

The public road forming part of the eastern boundary of Murupara Borough commencing at the junction of the said road with the No. 38 State Highway (Waiotapu-Wairoa via Waikaremoana) and terminating at a point where the said road leaves the said eastern boundary adjacent to the Rangitaiki River.

The public road connecting Kiorenuí Village with the No. 38 State Highway (Waiotapu-Wairoa via Waikaremoana).

SECOND SCHEDULE

SITUATED within Murupara Borough:

No. 38 State Highway (Waiotapu-Wairoa via Waikaremoana) (from the bridge over the Rangitaiki River to a point 3 chains measured south-easterly generally along the said State highway from Kowhai Avenue).

PURSUANT to the Transport Act 1962, the Minister of Transport hereby gives notice as follows:

1. That so much of the Warrant under section 52 of the Transport Act 1962 and regulation 27 of the Traffic Regulations 1956* dated the 24th day of June 1963† as relates to the No. 1 State Highway (Awanui-Bluff) at Waikanae in Horowhenua County is hereby revoked.

2. The road specified in the First Schedule hereto is hereby declared to be a closely populated locality for the purposes of section 52 of the Transport Act 1962.

3. The roads specified in the Second Schedule hereto are hereby declared to be limited speed zones for the purposes of the Traffic Regulations 1956.*

No. 1 State Highway (Awanui-Bluff) (from a point 3 chains measured southerly generally along the said State highway from Te Moana Road to a point 5 chains measured northerly generally along the said State highway from Ngaio Road).

SITUATED within Horowhenua County at Waikanae:

No. 1 State Highway (Awanui-Bluff) (from a point 16 chains measured southerly generally along the said State highway from Te Moana Road to a point 3 chains measured southerly generally along the said State highway from the said road; and from Hemi Street to a point 5 chains measured northerly generally along the said State highway from Ngaio Road).

Exemption Order Under the Motor Drivers Regulations 1940

———

PURSUANT to the Motor Drivers Regulations 1940,* the Minister of Transport hereby orders and declares that the provisions of clause (1) of regulation 7 of the said regulations so far as they relate to the driving of heavy trade motors shall not apply to the person hereinafter mentioned, but in lieu thereof the following provision shall apply:

A motor driver’s licence issued under the Motor Drivers Regulations 1940* to the person described in column 1 of the Schedule hereunder may authorise him to drive a heavy trade motor in the course of his employment for the employer described in column 2 of the said Schedule, but shall not authorise him, while he is under the age of 18 years, to drive a heavy trade motor for any other purpose.
