Open Season for Game (Canada Goose) in North
Canterbury Acclimatisation District
Pursuant to the Wildlife Act 1953, the Minister of Internal
Affairs declares an open season for Canada geese only within
that portion of the North Canterbury Acclimatiser District
described in the First Schedule hereto, during the period and
subject to the conditions specified in the Second Schedule
hereto.
FIRST SCHEDULE
AREA FOR AN OPEN SEASON FOR CANADA GEESE
ALL that area in the Canterbury Land District bounded by a
line commencing at a point on the sea coast in line with
the middle of Beach Road, near Poranui, Block VIII, Elles-
mere Survey District, and proceeding north-westerly gener-
ally to and along the middle lines of that road and the
Christchurch-Akaroa No. 75 State Highway to a point in
line with the middle of Duck Pond Road at Motukarara;
thence south-westerly to and along the middle of that road,
the crossing of the channel of the Halswell River, to a point
in line with the middle of Ridge Road; thence north-westerly
generally along the middle lines of Ridge Road, Neills Road,
Davidsons Road, and Pannetts Road to the right bank of
the Selwyn River at Coes Ford; thence north-westerly gener-
ally along that river bank to the middle of Leeston-Christ-
church road, thence south-westerly along the middle lines
of Leeston-Christchurch road, High Street, Feredays Road,
and Wabys Road to the middle of North Rakaia Road;
thence south-easterly along the middle of that road and its
production to the sea coast; thence easterly along the sea
coast to the point of commencement.
SECOND SCHEDULE
CONDITIONS TO APPLY DURING OPEN SEASON FOR CANADA
GEESE
Duration of season: Midnight 24 January to 8 March at
midnight.
Shooting hours: 24 hours per day.
Daily bag limit: No limit.

Amendments to the Scheme for the Control of the Whangarei
High School
Pursuant to section 92 of the Education Act 1914, the
Minister of Education hereby approves of the scheme for the
control of the Whangarei High School, published in the
Gazette of 15 July 1915, Volume II, page 2453, being
amended as follows:

  1. By omitting from subclause (8) of clause 2 the word
    "tenth", and substituting the word “fourteenth”.
  2. By omitting from subclause (9) of clause 2 the words
    "signed by the voter and enclosed in a sealed envelope,
    bearing on the outside thereof the words ‘Voting-paper’",
    and substituting the words "enclosed in a sealed envelope
    bearing on the outside the words 'Voting-paper', and on
    the inside of the flap of the envelope the signature of the
    voter".
  3. By adding to clause 2 the following subclause:
    “(9A) When posting any voting-paper the Returning Officer
    shall enclose for the return of the voting-paper an
    envelope addressed to himself with a place inside
    the flap for the signature of the voter.”
  4. By deleting paragraph (a) of subclause (11) of clause
    2, and substituting the following paragraph:
    “(a) If the voter fails to place his signature on the inside
    of the flap of the envelope; or ...”
  5. By adding the following clause:
    “9. Every provision of this scheme applying to the Whangarei
    High School be deemed to apply to the Whangarei
    Boys' High School, the Whangarei Girls' High School,
    and any other school for the time being under the
    control of the Whangarei High School Board.”

    Plants Declared Noxious Weeds in the County of Franklin
    (Notice No. Ag. 7900)
    Pursuant to section 3 of the Noxious Weeds Act 1950 and
    to a delegation from the Minister of Agriculture under
    section 9 of the Department of Agriculture Act 1953 for
    the purposes of the said section, the following special orders,
    made by the Franklin County Council on the 27th day of
    November 1963, are hereby published.
    SPECIAL ORDERS
    THAT in exercise of powers conferred on it by the Noxious
    Weeds Act 1950, the Franklin County Council hereby resolves
    and declares by way of special order that nodding thistle
    (Carduus nutans), being a plant mentioned in the First
    Schedule to the Noxious Weeds Act 1950, is a noxious
    weed within the County of Franklin.
    THAT in exercise of the powers conferred on it by the Noxious
    Weeds Act 1950, the Franklin County Council hereby resolves
    and declares by way of special order that Barberry (Berberis
    darwinii and Berberis vulgaris), being plants mentioned in the
    Final Schedule to the Noxious Weeds Act 1950, are noxious
    weeds within the County of Franklin.
