The Westland High School Board of Governors Order 1963

At the Government House at Wellington this 4th day of November 1963

Present:

HIS EXCELLENCY THE GOVERNOR-GENERAL IN COUNCIL

PURSUANT to section 90 of the Education Act 1914, as amended by section 10 of the Education Amendment Act 1952, His Excellency the Governor-General, acting by and with the advice and consent of the Executive Council, hereby makes the following order.

ORDER

  1. (1) This order may be cited as the Westland High School Board of Governors Order 1963.

(2) This order shall come into force on the 1st day of February 1964.

  1. (1) The constitution of the Board of Governors of the Westland High School prescribed by section 90 of the Education Act 1914 is hereby varied so that the school shall be controlled by a Board of Governors constituted as follows:

(a) One member appointed by the Canterbury Education Board;

(b) Five members elected by the parents of the pupils attending the school;

(c) One member appointed by the Hokitika Borough Council;

(d) One member appointed by the Westland County Council; and

(e) One member appointed by the Old Pupils’ Association of the school.

(2) Notwithstanding anything in subclause (1), the member to be appointed under paragraph (e) of that subclause shall, while there is no Old Pupils’ Association of the school, be appointed by the Board of Governors itself.

Boundaries of the County of Waitotara, the County of Wanganui, and the City of Wanganui Altered

HIS EXCELLENCY THE GOVERNOR-GENERAL IN COUNCIL

PURSUANT to the Local Government Commission Act 1961, His Excellency the Governor-General, acting by and with the advice and consent of the Executive Council, hereby makes the following order.

ORDER

  1. That on and from the 1st day of April 1964, the area described in the First Schedule hereto is hereby excluded from the County of Waitotara and included in the City of Wanganui.

  2. That on and from the date aforesaid the areas described in the Second and Third Schedules hereto are hereby excluded from the County of Wanganui and included in the City of Wanganui.

  3. That the alteration of the boundaries of the said counties and the said city hereinbefore made shall be deemed to have been effected under the Municipal Corporations Act 1954.

FIRST SCHEDULE

ALL that area in the Wellington Land District, Waitotara County, containing 610 acres, more or less, bounded by a line commencing at the south-eastern corner of Lot 2, D.P. 3855, being the easternmost point on the boundary of the City of Wanganui as described in Gazette, 1959, page 465, and proceeding southerly along the production of the eastern boundary of the said lot to the middle of the Wanganui River; thence generally south-westerly down the middle of that river to a point on a right line bearing 150° approximately from the intersection of the sea coast and the right bank of the Wanganui River (North Mole); thence north-westerly to that intersection being a point on the boundary of the City of Wanganui aforesaid; thence easterly and generally north-easterly along that boundary to the point of commencement, excluding therefrom those relevant portions of the City of Wanganui included in the wharf and bridge as defined in the Wanganui Bridge and Wharf Act 1872 and also the bridge defined in the Wanganui Bridge No. 2 Act 1911.

SECOND SCHEDULE

ALL that area in the Wellington Land District, Wanganui County, containing 128 acres, more or less, bounded by a line commencing at a point in line with the middle line of Pauls Road on the left bank of the Wanganui River, being a point on the boundary of the City of Wanganui as described in Gazette, 1959, page 465, and proceeding southerly along that bank to a point in line with the north-eastern boundary of Ngaparaoa 2; thence north-westerly along the production of that boundary to the middle of the Wanganui River; thence generally northerly up the middle of that river to a point in line with the middle line of Pauls Road aforesaid; thence south-westerly to the point of commencement, excluding therefrom part of the wharf as defined in the Wanganui Bridge and Wharf Act 1872 and also part of the bridge defined in the Wanganui Bridge No. 2 Act 1911.

THIRD SCHEDULE

ALL that area in the Wellington Land District, Wanganui County, containing 22 acres, more or less, bounded by a line commencing at a point in the middle of the Wanganui River in line with the western boundary of part Lot 1, D.P. 822, coloured yellow on S.O. Plan 21940, in Block V, Ikitara Survey District, and proceeding easterly up the middle of that river to a point in line with the western boundary of Section 454, Left Bank Wanganui River (Landguard Domain), situated in Block V, aforesaid; thence southerly towards that boundary to the left bank of the Wanganui River; thence westerly along that bank being the boundary of the City of Wanganui as described in Gazette, 1961, page 704, to the north-western corner of part Lot 1, D.P. 822, aforesaid; thence northerly along a right line to the point of commencement.
